I have a child that is Autistic. I myself have had a big brain tumor/worm like water ballon thing/not a bug removed. So I myself am into how the brain works and what's the mind? I've come to the conclusion that there are different levels like: body, soul and spirit. Thank you for some validation I needed being screwy and all;).

I'd recommend The brain that changes itself by Norman Doidge, one basic book of neuroplasticity. It features some brand new ideas, and a new model of autism. (With a way to solve some of the main problems with autism, for example the social skills and communications.)

What do Damasio, Tononi, Harris, Dennett, Sacks, Pinker, Ledoux and types like this think about these ideas? I want to buy this book for my mom, but not if this is like Jeffery Schwartz The Mind and The Brain trying too hard to save free will...

Yes, this is a google tech talk, but it has nothing to do with programming; unless you want to program your own brain. I've actually developed a way to rewire or reprogram people's brain's. So I appreciate it on that level. Here's my first test for people: close your eyes and see the two hemispheres of your brain. Is one side bigger or brighter than the other? If you can notice a difference write back and I'll tell you what to do next.

Ответить
@rbzzzzzrb
@rbzzzzzrb - 13.06.2013 04:22

Perfect. If you can tell that- you can move to step 2 and bring your attention to the right side of your brain and light it up. Direct your attention there, that will energize it. Your intention is to have both sides lit up and balanced, harmonized. Now imagine what else you can do with this skill. Imagine what would happen to your brain if you never looked at it and consciously changed it. I've seen brains burnt out, red hot, swollen, collapsed, exhausted... Apply this using info in the video.

You just wait Mr. mindsight guy the bat man is going to show up and take you down just as soon as commissioner Gordon finds his fancy flashlight.

His definition of the mind is "a process that regulates the flow of energy and information". Is his definition intentionally very broad? By this definition the microprocessor in a computer has a mind, though the microprocessor itself is not a mind. This still seems an apt definition but it is certainly not limited to the human mind.

When group objective is 2 increase margins at all costs .Especially when every1 from d Monk 2 D Psychiatrist all on company payroll & friction is detrimental 2 group earnings, Then how? Hi, Daniel J Siegel.
                            I'm just a 'pore, iggerant bulldozer operator' BUT I have been as sure as I believe it is possible to be on this physical Earth for the last 30 plus years that 'brain' and 'mind' were NOT one and the same AND that 'mind' did not even reside in the brain but simply communicated VERY effectively with it.

Science keeps talking about 'mind' but I have yet to see or hear ANYONE, give definition of 'mind' that fits ALL of the things that I have seen various people's minds do in my lifetime. Nor have I seen or heard anyone state PROVE-ABLY where 'the mind' resides.

I live in hope.

Just my 0.02. Thank you for an interesting talk.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Ah yes, such an educated man, implying that they do now know what the mind is.......  They do not have a clue.  What that college educated idiot was first describing when calling it the mind, was actually meaning "Brain".  The mind is who we are as the entity, and while it has everything to do with our three dimensional presence in this reality, it is so far beyond psychiatry's ability to corner it, they will never GET who we are until they change their perspective of who and what we are !!!

We are multidimensional in nature living in a multidimensional soup, in which we move in an through what is known as the continuum.  Psychiatry likes to think of us as Flat Landers living in "Flat Land", and like to think of themselves as the three dimensional observer.  They are so arrogant, that it is said, they cannot see the forest for the trees !!!

It they would, just for a moment, step outside that box they live in, they'll see our grander nature and how all the other realities we live in influence each other through that continuum, including our future and past.  Theoretical physicist are just now beginning to see what we are involved within, so that old Freudian dialectic needs to be put away, such that they can start fresh investigations without all the baggage !!!

What if the 'mind' is actually that connective source; the soul, spirit or collective consciousness? Maybe our brain, habitual and automatic thinking due to physically formed circuitry of established neuron pathways gets in the way? 'Mindful' training helps push that aside and connect with 'mind' (soul?) instead of 'brain' while rewiring the brain for more connection with that source.

9 functions of mental health: 1. regulate the body 2. attuning to others 3. balance one's emotions 4. capacity to extinguish fear 5. ability to pause before acting 6. insight (self knowing awareness) 7. capacity for empathy (different than attunement) 8. capacity for morality (thinking about the larger social good and acting on those behaviors even when alone) 9. intuition (being in touch with the wisdom of the body)

To understand the world, we rely on external and internal input, which Siegel calls "energy and information" that navigate the brain's pathways. This input (energy and information) travels through our five senses and nervous system and reaches the prefrontal middle cortex, that the prefrontal middle cortex can utilize in 9 separate and integrated functions. Finally, this energy and information is sent back out through the brain's pathways, shaping our behavior.

Elegant proof of God. In the great question, "Are we flesh having a spiritual (mindful) experience or Spirits (mind) having a fleshly experience?" Siegel has now answered it. We are Spirits. Spirits that are having a fleshly experience before our flesh dies, and we return to God to share our experiences and be judged for the time He allocated to us. Amazing information.
