Tossed a whole dryer probably because of that switch. Never thought to check it!

The lid on the working one was a normal dryer, just with a coin box on top. Some idiot stole the coin box, and it was that day the hotel maintenance team realized the "lock" on the front of the dryer not only was able to be bypassed, but actually had nothing but the key hole 😂.
