Baskerville s all golds from nz took the game to Australia 1907 picked up messenger and others went to England poor buggef died on way back home so glad he did I love this game
ОтветитьGlad he got a team together not died jeez
ОтветитьBEST GAME
ОтветитьSuper League ruined the game and lost lots of fans and split friendships
ОтветитьIt's good to know the history behind the great game
ОтветитьLeague broke from Union so players could get some money.
What money?
It took nearly a hundred years.
Does anyone watch league anymore, i gave up on it after 95.
ОтветитьThis is really well done. I was worried that it would take a super league apologist stance but I'm glad to say tat it does not
Ответить2022 = Tackle Touch Footy!
ОтветитьMassive fan of butts son Isaac but I’m to young to remember or even know about Tony’s career after watching this I’ve got so so much more respect for him as member of a union myself butts and tutty are absolute hero’s if you have a job (maybe not as much the residential side of construction for example but still) then you need to be in a union
ОтветитьHonestly it’s a tragedy that I was born in Australia specifically Cronulla in sydney and have lived here my whole 22 years and followed footy (albeit loosely at times) since I’ve been old enough to remember and had not only never heard the story of Dennis tutty but didn’t know who he was before this he’s an absolute legend
ОтветитьI would have thought that this documentary would have paid more attention to the Super League War. The NRL only came about because of the Super League War. Also, it's important to remember that Super League came out at the same time Kerry Packer was trying to start World Rugby Corporation in Union, which led to professionalism and Super Rugby.
ОтветитьNot a huge fan of the very misleading intro which implies the game was 'born in Australia'. The creation of rugby league is very much the doing of northern England where the game should have stayed.
ОтветитьThis started out so well, but the last 20 or so was a bit of a drag along. Great sentiment, but it felt like virtue signalling by the end for the NRL
ОтветитьDennis Tutty , absolute legend and should be recognized for what he started. League players still being ripped off, not paid enough. Compare what other professional sportsman are earning in alpha sports? Shareholders, elite, still stealing from the skills of the working man. Look also at Womens League, absolute tragedy, not being paid enough and needing a full time employment. Also wish to note the sacrifices Tony Butterfield made to continue the fight for players.
ОтветитьThis was a brilliant presentation
Ответитьshould be titled evolution of RLPA.
ОтветитьTop bloke Mr. Tutty
ОтветитьNice
Ответитьrugby league started in england in 1895 NOT IN AUSSIE
ОтветитьNRL in AUS is the pinnacle of the sport ,in the UK and been a fan for a few years now with Penrith Panthers in AUS and St Helens in the UK my teams
Ответить❤RL❤
ОтветитьRussell Crowe - 'Dennis Tutty Story' GO!
ОтветитьThe amount of rugby league talent to come out of Australia is unbelievable
ОтветитьBravo à vous !! Super vidéo !! Un fan de NRL français !!🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵💪💪
ОтветитьRugby League split from Union so the players could get paid.
How'd that work out for ya?
Dennis tutty is a hero
I never new his story
A true blue fair dinkum dinky di Aussie battla
More like the devolution of rugby league, when you look at the tripe served up these days.
ОтветитьSouth Sydney 1925-32 winning six premierships in eight years. 1950-55 winning five premierships in six years and four premierships in five years between 1967-1971.
St. George winning eleven consecutive premierships 1956-66. Manly winning four times in the 1970s (1972, 1973, 1976, 1978)
Parramatta and Canterbury winning four times apiece in the 1980s. Canberra winning three times in six years between 1989-1994. Brisbane winning six premierships in 15 years (1992,1993,1997,1998,2000 and 2006)
Sydney Roosters playing in eight Grand Finals from 2000-2019 winning four premierships (2002, 2013, 2018, 2019).
The big bucks has achieved many things but it hasn't made the game any more entertaining. The ref made the odd mistake but not as many as they do today even with the new tech.
ОтветитьSo rugby league was born in northern England and raised in Australia
ОтветитьAll league players owe it to Dennis Tutty
ОтветитьBarney Dalton # 43 Easts
ОтветитьLeague has the best fights of any sport, including boxing.
ОтветитьUnsurpringly, the NRL have neglected to mention the contribution to Aussie RL by Māori/Pasifika and Australian indigenous people.
Their flair, speed, balance and sheer natural ability changed the game from the absolutely boring spectacle it was to exciting, unpredictable league it is now.
Credit where it's due.
How many of these migrants are skilled or are they non skilled ? How many speak English
ОтветитьMan I think all players should be made to watch this doco.
These blokes all played purely for the love!
I get times have changed, but so many players seem to want their cake and eat it to these days.
I love the NRL but the game began in 1895 in Huddersfield a great Australian once said ,"those that drink from the Well but always remember those who built the Well ".I'm paraphrasing the great Harry Bath .....🏉
ОтветитьIt wasn’t born in Australia though, was it?
ОтветитьFirst line - "Rugby League was born in Australia in 1908...."
Well, no point in watching further. They clearly don't know what they are talking about. 🤷♂️
This is both really interesting and really boring
ОтветитьNRL is a product, packaged & promoted by 9 and Foxtel. It died several years ago. Yet it boasts a world cup every 4 years. For a game played in NSW & QLD, plus a franchise in Melbourne, a few cities in northern England, a couple in Provence, that's hubris. And a lie.
ОтветитьIncredible video. Australia, you got yourself a new US fan. Go Cowboys!
ОтветитьRugby league was actually started in the town of Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England. NOT NSW Australia. Gert your facts right....
ОтветитьDon't want to be a killjoy but think rugby league has never been Australia's number one football code as claimed.
ОтветитьIt's amazing to see this kind of documentary. Still watching it in 2024.
ОтветитьRL was born in Australia? And what a great English game it is!
ОтветитьMate remember Aussies invented everything especially the mullet haircut, crying on camera and cheating at cricket😂😂😂
ОтветитьHopefully rugby league can rise to the level where they can get paid much more!
ОтветитьIronic that the causes of the great split in 1895 in England were not dissimilar to Tutty's fight within rugby league in Australia decades later. The 1895 split is seized upon by rugby league historians in England as being a class fight, which it was. But many of the old amateur rugby "principles" clearly carried through into rugby league in Australia at the governance level. It took players to do the same as the Packer cricketers did in order to change the game for all.
