Great tips on not taking too much stuff witch I am really bad at. I went on a road trip a few months ago and too much crap lol I learned that less is more fun and less is less to worry about

I ALWAYS carry too much- I'm a grandma and always feel obligated to carry the extra jackets, bug sprays, clothes and first aid stuff😂

Just remember there are places called stores that have pretty much anything you need. Instead of packing everything that you might need pack minimally and if you need it then get it later. That way you aren't carrying a bunch of junk. It's a learning process. If I look back at what I used to carry it's kind of funny.

Too much stuff lol.
I have 3 ground tents in my LC100!
Solo bivy, 3+ season 3 man and a big 6 person.
I use the 6 person for the wife and dogs when they come, I used to not carry it.
A couple months ago I was out in the CO. Rockies and got swarmed by flies and mosquitoes.
It was miserable, in the tent to get away from them if the sun was up, even the 2+/3 man was to small to be in after a couple hours.
I keep the 6 in the rig now lol.

I have yet to go on an overlanding trip. I don't think I'll have too much trouble with staying minimalist as all of my experience is in backwoods canoe camping. A week would involve a 60 lb pack and a 40 lb canoe. I still came home with uneaten food and items I never looked at.

I’ve been carrying enough tools to overhaul an engine on the trail for years. For 13 years my off-road vehicle was an XJ (Cherokee), which used SAE nuts & bolts on the engine, and metric everywhere else. So I packed it all! I recently realized that my Gladiator is all metric, except for a few added on accessories, so it’s time to unload some of that weight. Thanks for the reminder!

Kind’ve like a house….the bigger the house and more rooms….we fill it up! We have been “overlanding full time since 2016…in a 38 ft 5th wheel trailer! After downsiyfrom a 3500 sq ft home…we still carry too much stuff. Twice a year we go through and try to slim down…a never ending process!

It looks like you have the Expedition Essentials Maxtrax mount (very nice). Just curious how you mounted it. To a Sherpa window molle panel? Considering this same setup…

When I got out of the service way back when, I joined search and Rescue. I think that is what started me carring too much extra stuff. You can drop the SAE Crescent wrench, channel locks, and pliers too. Lol.

Hey, what’s a good place to get headlights for a 4Runner?
