Do you really have to limit to 16 notes of sampling for note lengths to be as long as this demo? Could you sample at say half the tempo so the notes would be long but still have 32 slots? I’m still learning Digitakt so maybe I’m missing an obvious limitation that would make this method fail. I do think 16 notes is enough especially considering you can do multiple layers but I’m thinking it would still be even better to have more control over the sample/sounds chosen. For example using different samples of more similar tones for certain ranges of notes, then it’ll be random but somewhat thoughtful in terms of orchestration.

Maybe you showed this and I just missed but it occurred to me that you could also set the trig condition to a percentage and then maybe even add some conditions where if the previous trig happens the next one doesn’t, for the sake of creating some space between notes. This video is super inspiring, can’t wait to try it.

I’m trying to figure out what is better for me. An Analog Rytm mkt 2 or the digitakt + the syntak.

I need one or the other to create my own drum samples in the studio.. I work a lot with sound design and in the DAW I usually use synth and sample layers to make my own drum sounds.

When I say digitakt + syntak it’s because I’m thinking about syncing the MIDI of the two devices and layering the synth (of syntak) with samples (of the digitakt). Example: in digitakt a clap sample and in the syntak a synth model clap.

I’m trying to figure out which choice has more sound design power.
In the Analog Rytm mkt 2 I can resample… but in the digitakt + syntak it looks like there is a bigger range of sounds for me to tweak and experiment with.

What would be your suggestion?

I'm not a big fan of using generative randomness in my music, especially with melodies, but this is a really cool workaround with Digitakt. But I could see a way to use this in my own way (if I had a DT). I'm not saying I'm against others using generative stuff, though haha.

I feel like Elektron gear is the only stuff that can do things that I can't do in Ableton. I honestly feel like the Ocratrack is still overprices though haha. So I've been flirting with getting a Digitakt for a good year now. I'm sort of over my SP 404 MK2.

Great video, but where is the random generator?

FYI LFO depth in the slice machine just corresponds to how far the polarity goes above/below the midpoint. So if you select slice 8/9, a depth of "8" would guarantee you hit all 16 slices. If you select slice 16/17 in a 32 slice division, a depth of "16" would do the same.

Bought a syntakt a couple months ago, sent it back cos I wasn’t a fan of the sounds it offered - but this is inspiring af and it makes it hard for me to resist the urge to go for the Digitakt 2 😅

Hello iam a huge fan of your videos. There is an easiest way to random. Use grid for a long sample then when you are on SRC click YES and a magical randomlock popup will appear😊 I JUST discover the tip so I SHARE IT😊.

Cool trick! Is it possible to restart LFO phase to repeat the sequence every bar or every 4 bars? The same way as a cycling lfo works on the octatrack

I was thinking of selling my sp404mk2. I need a device to make albums on and i thought the digitakt might be the best bet. I know people love the 404 but the workflow sucks ass through a coffee straw. What are your thoughts?

Sick technique, but for some reason step rec jump doesn't work for me. I have to advance the steps by pressing the arrow keys, it does not automatically advance... Anyone got the same issue?
