I resist the pressure by thinking ahead about how this plant will stress me out in my home and so ai just go to nurseries or botanical gardens gardens and enjoy them there without the work involved! I have my Mamei on a moss pole for the moment and so far it’s growing up it. But I know there will come a time when it will do its thing. And for this reason I have resisted the urge to buy any other crawlers….its not practical for me and my space 😊
ОтветитьI would really love to get any of these plants for my wife......
ОтветитьCrawlers are a hard no for me! Like you, I just don't have the space for them! Plus, I don't want to have plants crawling horizontally below knee height, they've got to go up and fill the space vertically.
I have some floor space that will be occupied by plants when I find the right one for the space, and for me!
As for peer pressure, no, it doesn't really affect me. It might get a plant onto my "to research" list, but if it ends up not fitting my requirements it will never make my wishlist.
How true, that we can be so influenced to buy the latest trendy plant only to be disappointed. The plants you have regretted buying in this video, though beautiful are all crawlers. Sometimes it takes the experience of owning a plant to fall out of love with it, regardless of trends. Gread video!!!!
Ответитьwow, if you won't grow them, I won't touch them with a 10 foot pole....my 3 happen to be: alocasias, calatheas, prayer plants.....tried it, failed & won't do it again
ОтветитьThis was a funny and informative video! Yes, right now you see anthuriums all over and I’m not sure I have right set up for them, so I’m trying, trying to be wise and not go down that rabbit hole!
ОтветитьI would love any plants you are willing to give away please we will love them
ОтветитьGreat advice
ОтветитьCan’t beat free!!
ОтветитьThank you Queen. An intelligent WAKE UP CALL. BLESSINGS!
ОтветитьThis is fabulous! I find it so hard to resist because crawlers are so cute when they are babies.
ОтветитьI've given away all but 3 of my crawlers which included some Gloriosums and a Mamei. Honestly I[m ready to get rid of my McDowell. I also find them to be be spider mite magnets.
ОтветитьJust know that I'll adopt whatever plant you no longer want 😊
ОтветитьMe, me, me. I want I want ❤❤
ОтветитьI love my Gloriosum. It is not potted in one large rectangluar pot, but in a bunch of small squared ones on my windowsill. When it grows out of its latest pot I just put a new pot next to it. And if its too big overall, I cut the oldest part off and have a fully rootet, perfectly fine plant in its own pot. I never repot the large one, I just cut one side and expand the other.
Crawlers are super easy if handled this way... it's the circle of potting. :D
I am getting addicted to philodendron recently , thanks for these tips 😀
ОтветитьSuper funny - but can't you just cut it back?
ОтветитьIt's how I felt about my Summer Glory! I loved her till it you realize no one makes good looking rectangle pots and it just keeps going.
ОтветитьI just finished going all out to fill some walls with plants. I asked 5 questions. Do i like it? How hard is it to keep alive? Is it expensive? Will i feel guilty if i kill it? Where will i put it in 6 months?
If i am still interested and not on a self-imposed plant ban then i can get the plant.
I love this! I, too, have decided when they require too much of my personal real estate, it's time for them to GO!!!!!! Someone else can have them until they decide they're eating up too much real estate in THEIR home. 😂
ОтветитьI would be delighted to take any...or all....of these three all of these plants....off your hands. They are beautiful and I am a glutton for punishment! Lol
ОтветитьI somehow dislike the strong midline of these pillowy type philodendrons. It's like the midline of abs! Mamei, dean mcdowell, gloriosum, pastazanum... Probably the weirdest reason anyone has ever given but it's a dealbreaker for me😅 Dean McDowell is the ugliest to me. It's very easy to resist the fomo when you are as judgemental as me in what is coming to plants😂 I just keep my head and not fall easily for plants that other people like. It helps my home not to fill up too quickly...
ОтветитьHi Nora, thanks for sharing your story, I bet there are a lot of people in the same situation but struggle to acknowledge it. Think of all the space you can free up for new, more desirable plants if you can bring yourself to getting rid of the crawlers.
ОтветитьAnother crawler is P. Dragons Tail, I’m tired to trying to keep it going up on a support stick,it just goes off sideways and there’s no way to train it up as it has super thick stems! Not happy Jan!😡😡 Natalie
ОтветитьI love your videos, on point, humorous and that chair would totally go with my headboard. Love it
ОтветитьI went crazy for plants spring 2019, I felt I > had to < get a pilea pepermiodes and a zz plant. Didn't really like them much, and proceeded to kill the ZZ. The pilea just would not die! So finally after 4 years, I started watering it in earnest. It's surprisingly still alive on a bottom dark shelf in too small of a pot. I wish I had someone to give plants to. I love my pasta and mamei. I would love to have a Dean McDowell, top category for me. But I have an approx. 12x12 ft office with upwards of 150? plants. I've got 6 more expected in about a week. I mainly buy because of what's available to me in rural Canada and the price. Glad prices are coming down!!
ОтветитьIf you are going to chop your Dean McDowell, I'd be willing to pay for a node + shipping :)
ОтветитьI want these. Please don't get rid of them.
This is my email.
I have plenty of space.
Ответить😂 Lets do it again Nora!!! I have the Mamei. If no one has claimed it. I have an idea how to solve the issue. Plus, I am finding my Gloriosum very enjoyable. Only this time, I do the brunch.
ОтветитьP.S... You are getting funnier and funnier. ❤
ОтветитьMY strategy for not falling for every plant I want is very simple... not having any money. It works wonders. 😂
ОтветитьNew Subscriber, just found you and like your style 😊
ОтветитьI bought one of them today 😅
ОтветитьI do my research before putting a plant on my “Grail” list it doesn’t always work, sometimes I just want to see if I can grow them too, I just picked up a gloriosum and sp Columbia to see what growing crawlers is like, it’s not necessarily going by trends, but to see if I can be successful with them. Plus, I stick to buying local, I don’t order plants online unless it’s a big deal to me, but most I can wait for them to become available here at home
ОтветитьI really really liked this video! The humor combined with the awareness of facing the fact that plants have the RIGHT to be what they are in nature! Enough with this anthropocentric attitude. It is wonderful to be surrounded by plants in our homes but we have to start asking ourselves where the boundary lies between our pleasure and the right thing to do for plants. Thank you
ОтветитьYup I feel you ! My Dean mcdowell is seriously taking one whole room for itself. I can not put it anywhere else ! And when I need to use that room, I have to move the whole plant to another room!! I love it so much I don’t want to kick it out of my collection :(
Ответить🤣 I've ended up with few baby crawlers and I've been having these exact concerns. Maybe I need to cut my losses before I put in all the effort and hearbreak lol.
ОтветитьI would love these plants. I want a crawler to span the length of a desk I have
ОтветитьThe solution to not becoming a plant hoarder is to have one piece husband who doesn't let you buy new plants because our house is not a botanical garden😁 .
The ones I have are already too much for him and when he sees a gnat flying by he is going crazy....that is why I am transferring plants into leca ( Amazonica is already suffering and some leaves are dying 😔) , perlite or vermiculite media. Hope I won't loose all of them. I am afraid about the Pilea Chinese money plant- already killed 2 last year with fertilizer granules.
Wow, when I started watching this video, I did not expect much but some unpopular facts about these plants. It turned out to be one of the most helpful and important plant videos I've watched in a while.
ОтветитьYou’re the Marie Kondo of plants
ОтветитьI’ll
Take that mamei!!!!
I do my best to remember that my little plants may not stay little and to take into account their size at maturity. I have limited room in my apartment. I also want to keep the total number of plants manable. For me that is between 100 and 120 plants depending on their eventual size.
ОтветитьMy strategy to resist: (and since I get stressed by too many plants), is I have a rule now - if I bring home a new plant, I have to get rid of one.
Ответить😂😂😂 love you, omg! I want the Mamei tho‼️
ОтветитьSo glad i saw this ❤
ОтветитьIf you still have any I'll take it
ОтветитьOh man these are my favourite, didn’t even know they were popular! Their leaves are so massive in my indoor jungle . Respect though for taking out what doesn’t bring you joy, I had to do that with most of my Alocasia’s . Great video!!!😊
