I work in domestic violence space and we are trained by psychologists who say trauma affects the brain and rest of the body. Is this really not evidence based?

I appreciate your skepticism when calling out quacks and the like, but you sneering at someone's trauma because you don't think it's serious enough it's really unsympathetic to me... Are you a psychology expert now as well?
I know first hand what it's like to grow up having all needs but the emotional needs met, and it does leave scars. So this attitude seemed a bit arrogant to me. I would appreciate you staying clear of covering these issues that are unrelated to veganism if you can't suppress your judgemental attitude. That's just my two cents, you are free to do as you wish of course, but I will probably stop watching.

Gabor Mate is a very good (fully qualified medical doctor) to look into to read about the links between childhood trauma, mental illness, addiction and serious physical illness. There is a lot of actual evidence, but it doesn't involve "the soul" lol.

The expectations people have can definitely be weird. My brothers best friend and wife went on a "vegan" diet(diet for them because it was about weight loss for them) after a month they had only lost like 12 pounds between the 2 of them and quit because it wasn't getting them the results they expected and was to hard for the minor benefits(their words)

While I do agree this man is definitely a little loopy, I do think he makes a good point about stress affecting different body parts. I think if we already have an issue with a particular part of our body and we go through a particularly stressful period of time. It can definitely take a toll on that body part. But that’s just my opinion

science isn't cultural? THAT seems very, very superficial. What get's studied? Who's in the study? What results are highlighted? what results are ignored or buried? Science, as you are using it to talk about studies performed at a professional level that pass whatever your muster is, is profoundly culturally informed. On the whole I agree with your take, but you often tank yourself with this sort of 2002 style perspective about the magical objectivity and applicability of results from studies that vary widely in scope, execution, reception and presentation. You can do better. Come on.

That's the thing you don't get, trauma and psychological stuff doesn't fit in a neat box of hard scientific evidence and logic. Not everything does. I'm not saying he's right, but who are you to say his psychological issues didn't contribute to his physical issues? You should really stop dismissing people's experiences just because you don't understand emotions and things outside the realm of hard logic and fact.

I do believe you can have great parents, but still get "affected" since they themselves probably never learned how to work with us or teach us how to handle certain emotions. At the same time, our bodies change, our minds change, there's new experiences, and all those things also affect us, as well as genetics.

I go to a psychotherapist who specializes in trauma, and she does somatic work. She does believe we have emotions that we haven't been allowed to express in some way (or learned to express in a way it was hurting us) that needed to get out. It's a way to accept they exist, to experience them, and to learn how to soothe. Basically, becoming more resilient to any future change and such.

Compared to a previous therapist I had who specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic therapy has been more helpful to me.

We've also talked about medicine (I've only tried one and hated it). I'm open to it if I see therapy doesn't work at all. I'm also sure there will be moments where pain will be too hard to handle on my own, so medicine at such moments will help.

I also know that everything, and at the same time, nothing can work. Meaning, what works for me doesn't necessarily mean that works for someone else.

Hey UV, I appreciate a lot of your content, but I wanted to point out something incorrect in your video. You said there is no evidence or data to point to a correlation or cause between childhood trauma and physical health. There are actually quite a few studies about the impact of adverse childhood experiences on the health of adults. I work in public health at a government level and childhood adversity is recognized as a social determinant of health (just like housing status and food insecurity). Please look up the CDC-Kaiser ACE Study and similar ACES studies.

In 2018, Stacey Missmer, from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, conducted a study that found an association between endometriosis and childhood abuse.

While Western medicine often takes a biomedical approach that refutes any mind-body connection, it does sometimes acknowledge "stress" as a risk factor for certain health conditions.

Eastern folk/traditional Medicine doesn't have scientific evidence. But the culture that it creates, the literal vibes and placedo effect makes people feel better in the end. Body and mind connection really exists. Anxiety can come from the mind and from the stomach. Folk medicine is a different kind of therapy. The literal vibes end up helping the person. Although I don't personally prefer it, there are aspects in it that we could learn from. Having a closed mindset and believing that western therapy is the only way is quite flawed. Psychology can be so incredibly complicated. For a lot of people, a combination of spirituality and western medicine can be very helpful. But, we must always know to not take it too far. This guy, has taken it way too far. We embrace the things that help us, but we don't let them control us.
As for this case, this isn't eastern folk medicine, this is a religious thing. Hell I'm agnostic so idk maybe I'm not feeling the vibe of this divine truth thing. But we don't need religion to be healthy and functioning human beings, if it helps you, great, but don't let it control you.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you but I get the impression you think epigenetics are not real. People don't get mental illness or have a higher likelihood of addiction or higher likelihood of physical pain or other illness because of trauma but yet it's somewhat a relatively new science but it's in the mainstream understood by most in the field there's more to learn about it indeed but it's basically an accepted science now. I just looked up the Canadian studies on it it's funded by the government the US government's involved with it as well as a few other countries. No the person in the video is definitely putting a more spiritual twist on it and is not necessarily talking completely from a scientific perspective. And I don't think he has an actual diagnosis other than from these spiritual group gurus which is no diagnosis at all. I'd also like to point out that you said sex can't be an addiction or I don't know what you said but you're saying that you thought it would be like something legit like drugs but I think you need to do a little more research on addiction because you can be addicted to any behavior. It doesn't have to be drugs and this is also widely accepted in mental health and psychology. You said just because you went through hard things and you don't think it affected you that's actually an antidote you don't want people doing that with diet let's not do it with the subject of epigenetics either. Just because it doesn't affect everyone the same doesn't mean it isn't real. You got to understand that there are some genetics involved but the epi is on top of that specifically is what it means. You can have a predisposition for something whether it be mental illness and sometimes physical illness and if something in the butt in the environment triggers it the likelihood goes up. That's epigenetics. In fact there's plenty of evidence that someone with a predisposition for something in a healthier environment can actually have the genes not turned on at all it's like a switch and this can be things from the environment coming in such as food or even perceived experience yes trauma..

Not religion nor cult...🤷‍♀️
Animals and children are suffering the most atm. If you observe the world a bit more, you start to see how much children feel unloved and how much parents substitute love with material stuff and other conditioning ... So much toxic relationships out there too, children may not understand the words but they can feel everything for what it is. Many children are being born as an accident or are unwanted from day one.
Yes , children are resilient and come out the other side, because they automatically process emotions then and there but they come out scarred for life too.
Do some research on soul and soul condition , you'll understand a bit more.
Science is always behind ...
Best wishes and soul food to you ✌️

Just like nutrition is complex and personal, so is deciding to get an experimental vaccine. I'm one who didn't get it and looking back, with how it's caused serious permanent side effects for some people and only offers protection for 6 weeks- I'm not feeling like the "idiot" you called me. (I almost lost my life due to a hepatitis vaccine I got in 2019 after a kitchen worker exposed people. I'm not anti-vaccine, just anti-experimental vaccines without a long track record of safety after that. I probably would've gotten it if I'd not still been regretting getting one the year prior and still on 11 straight months of high dose antibiotics.)
