ОтветитьThe man. Rest In Peace Jay. Got to celebrate him at jayday this year on the north shore, great time
ОтветитьSuper styling in those tubes!!! Love watching this guy do what he does🎉 😎
ОтветитьDa dips…..so many great memories here. Miss home😢
ОтветитьSurf & Skate royalty, tho he never wanted to be. Much love & respect, Jay. RIP
ОтветитьNice grab rail down carve cutty. Guessing that’s over near Makaha???
ОтветитьYep, wish you were here.
He kinda reminds me a bit of Johnny Boy Gomes style.
Don't do drugs or they will do you!
ОтветитьCharthouse
ОтветитьI’m just a bit older than J and the dog town crew. I always wondered if they were just skating to kill time until the waves were ON. After 50 odd years this answers that question. Me too. Still doing it wish Jay was too. RIP. That style was a big gift from the universe that is so rare.
Ответитьshred in peace Jay boy , Great clip .
ОтветитьYoks
ОтветитьHe looked like a normal guy before going off the rails with face tats. He would probably be here if he took better care of himself. 🪦
ОтветитьI miss Jay. He was always an inspiration to us, growing up in Dogtown and Venice.
The Breakwater and the Pier lineups both miss his unique brand of ripping and regulating.
watch out for the dip in the road .........
ОтветитьRipping.
Ответить❤️🔥
ОтветитьPeople like to idolize someone they done know. Pretty sure this guy was a huge douchebag.
ОтветитьI ran into Jay in the parking lot at Salt Creek in South OC just a couple of months before he passed away. I had met him there before but on this day I was at my truck messing with my GoPro and he walked over to say "what's up?". He said that he also has a GoPro but he could never figure out the settings. So I briefly showed him what I knew and I remember saying "when the red light is flashing you know it's recording". So fast-forward to about a year after he passed away I was going thru random GoPro clips and it didn't occur to me that I had actually briefly video taped us talking at my truck - because the camera was facing us while I was talking. So that was pretty cool. And I also found a few short clips of him in the water that day, but the surf was pretty small.. BTW, nice footage.
ОтветитьJay followed a guy out of the water at Rocky Point who had dropped in on him. It was about this time period. The guy didn't want to fight. But Jay was almost apologetic, like "dude, you have no choice, you dropped in, now we have to fight, that's the rules". A couple of punches and it was over. The guy was kind of shocked, didn't realize where he was. 😂
ОтветитьKids these days will never understand how quickly skateboarding evolved due to Adams and Alva and their buddies. Yeah there are rad guys now but Jay Adams was one of the first rad guys. Certainly not a good role model as I’m a 60 year old drug addict who can barely surf anymore. Got hurt in a skatepark a couple years ago prolly too old for that. Nice footage of good surfing. Notice the grace and style.
Ответитьhow about no music just waves and life? would that be so frickin hard.
ОтветитьJay killing it at thirds.the man period
ОтветитьOmg!!!!! Fuck!!! My man J. Thank you who ever did this i love you
ОтветитьIs that Chicugua?
Ответитьso talented. example of someone who could excel at anything he tried, but he was born to surf.
ОтветитьI was friends with Jay on the North Shore at this time. Super cool and funny. Under rated as a surfer.
ОтветитьThat was fucking cool
ОтветитьRip Jay
ОтветитьRIP A LEGEND OF STYLE AND LIFESTYLE. SURF & SK8
ОтветитьDude was such a ripper!
ОтветитьAround 74-75 and before the whole Zboy thing blew up, I was lucky enough to hangout and skate around Santa Monica and Venice with Jay. He was a good guy but a little devious lol. I'll always remember those days with a smile.
Rip, Jay 🙏🏼
How did he pass away?
ОтветитьLove Jay. Nice edit, great song. Filmed by Derek Hoffmann of Nalu Films with a Sony Hi8 camera in a Taro Pascual Housing. We did an Instagram reel of this and that is why the quality is so-so here. We should make a longer version with better quality. Maybe credit where you get your footage in the future? Aloha
ОтветитьAmazing like PinkFloyd ❤
ОтветитьMoral story….don’t do crank.
ОтветитьThat one big barrel was sick
Ответитьan under rated surfer. that’s for sure RIP.
