Hey Post you can use Chicken manurer too !

I have no clue about these watering pumps. But can you use cork or gasket maker for that? You can also buy a big piece of gasket and cut it to size. Then you have extra for years to come.

Instead of spending 50 on a kit can you get a sheet of gasket material for a few bucks for a more of a permanent fix? Love your work Post 10!

I would still by some gasket making material at the auto paots store for cheap and fix it right!

You can cut a new gasket if you can get a car tyer tub and cut it off

Be careful using cow manure. Hay is sprayed w roundup and it passes thru the cows system. Can end your garden if its sprayed. Make sure the manure sources dont spray

It was very cold in Ohio last week, glad I had nothing in the ground yet. I love hand watering you get to know you garden, plus plants like to be talked to and fussed over. If you are very alert you can see them move.

the other way to help reduce the slugs, is to get bird feeders, the birds will eat the slugs too. You'd might enjoy humming bird feeders, Several bird species are known to consume slugs and snails. These include thrushes, blackbirds, robins, starlings, gulls, jays, magpies, and owls. These birds often scratch at the ground or look for snails in their habitats, seeking these slow-moving creatures as a food source. so is up to you Post 10. Enjoy your garden.

50 bucks for a rubber gasket? You can put it in cooking water for a short while, it can regenerate it

Ghe silicone said it us a mastic, it never cures. Nit sure in the application but at some point it'll probably dry out and peel right off.

Gasket maker from auto zone. Cut to fit punch out your holes.

Here is some advice for your slugs, get a couple cans of beer, pour into a empty pie pan and put a stick by the pan and the slugs will crawl on the stick and start drinking the beer. The salt in the beer will dry them out. You can put the pans close to the outside of your garden or inside.

Water from those pumps always had an iron taste that i never cared for it was cold and quenched your thirst it just had an off taste

When i started having symptoms of kidney failure i pissed something similar to that oxidized water

Looks like you could use a bit of rubber matting on the top to protect the paintwork from being walloped constantly by the bolts/pin

Hi post10 the parts for those hand pump one way valves are under $10 at any hardware store, including both the flat check valve and the plunger cup (which will most likely be equally deteriorated but wasn't addressed here). Just ask for a 'Leather Pitcher Pump Repair Kit' and they are a fairly universal fit.
