sadly bugthesda learned nothing from this game
ОтветитьThis suddenly popped up in my suggested videos, so here I am rewatching it for the 5th time or whatever throughout the years. Such a shame Durmin abandoned the channel. These Gothic reviews were fantastic.
ОтветитьWow, that was an amazing review! Really enjoyed it. One thing tho; if you played Gothic 1 back in the days once and gave up, why did you pick up the second game? ;-)
ОтветитьDude this video is the funniest shit ive seen <3
Ответитьawesome video man loved to watch this
ОтветитьBest review EVER! =)))
Ответитьreally nice video - wanted to watch just the start but it got me hooked although i just had played through gothic 1 a few days ago as a rerun ;)
ОтветитьIt was a time where game devs didn´t cared about the community too much, they just loved making games and created awesome stuff. I count Morrowind also to that time. It was hard to get into the games, but thats one aspect why I love them so much.
Ответитьi would love a elex review pls come back
ОтветитьWhats the Song in the beginning?
Ответитьin the end music from Darkstone when you finish it?
ОтветитьI love these games, they might be my favorite games of all time, and i do consider them masterpieces, but i just can't close my eyes about some things, that frustrate me about them...
My only few problems with the first two Gothic games are:
The balancing in G1, where it was too easy to gain experience, because you can just beat up everyone, with almost no consequences, once you get a bit stronger, and it was very easy to exploit that. I think the developers tried to convey that the Colony has no laws, and as long as you're stronger, you can beat up people and get away with it. You can achieve 100 strength and get the best one-handed sword and the second-best two-handed weapon in the game, while also be a master at both styles of melee combat and clear the entire overworld map, including the orc lands, and also beat up all people in the Old, Smap and New Camps (ask if you want to know how) all in Chapter 1 with zero consequence... that is of course, if you know how to progress to achieve all that. You also get filthy rich by doing that. I had 23k ore, and over 1000 unsold weapons and a ton of potions and other items before chapter 2. Of course, i don't recommend playing like that. I did it, just see how much i can abuse the game, and i also did it in my 6th or 7th playthrough of the game. Any new player of G1 should experience the game blind and face the difficulties we all did back in the day. Still, that doesn't change the fact that you cane easily break the balance if you put and two together and realize how the rules of the Colony work.
In Gothic 2, Piranha Bytes fixed most of these flaws, and these changes also made a lot of sense, because you're no longer in the lawless lands of the Colony, and you can no longer get away with crime (at least most crimes), if you have witnesses. Even more than that, if you beat up somebody, they might end up hating you and refusing to trade or talk to you for the rest of the game, unless you use an Oblivion spell on them. I think that's amazing and adds to the immersion a lot.
Still Gothic 2 wasn't without flaws, and here, my only problems with the game, is with the damage calculation, and the attribute balancing. I hate that you get diminishing returns for spending learning points in attributes, and you're forced to look for stone tablets and some rare plants that are almost impossible to find without a guide. Looking out for Dragonroot is a total BS and i hate it.
And because of it, you also need to spend at least 21 learning points for Alchemy and 35 points to learn how to read the stone tablets. It's a chore raising attributes in G2, period! They should've let the attribute gain to be 5 for 5 until you reach 100 of the attribute you're raising, then after that the training should be 5 for 10 (and just for the one you're raising, but for all of them). On top of that, almost all attribute plants and attribute stone tablets should be removed from the game, maybe leave just 2 of each type as a bonus if you find them. Also, Alchemy should be a general skill that requires maybe 20 points to master, i don't like that you have to spend points for individual recipes, and look for different trainers that can teach them.
The damage calculation in Gothic 1 was 100 times better than in Gothic 2. It's super frustrating that in G2, unless you hit with critical, you basically do lame damage. I had 110 strength, 30% One-Handed skill and an 80 damage sword with a 6% bonus to the one-handed skill.... and with all that it takes me 3-4 hits to kill a Scavanger, a Bloodfly or a Molerat, unless i perform a critical hit, which then kills them instantly... it basically makes no difference if i'm using my 80 damage sword or a f'n branch to fight these low-level enemies and that's once again, a total BS!
Fighting humans is unfair and unbalanced too. With 36% chance to crit, i almost never get the crits when i need them the most, but the enemies always crit me and kill me with one or two shots, before i can crit them, even though i already hit them 5-6 times in that same battle with a supposed 36% chance to hit... which makes the combat way too much luck based than it should be, and i hate that!
You ain't going to get far as a new player, unless you learn how to fight without getting hit.... and that takes some time and practice. While i love that the game requires actual skill and knowledge in that regard, the critical hits are just too overpowered, while the non-critical ones are just useless - the first needs nerfing and the second needs to be boosted to make the combat more enjoyable, while still keeping the challenge... otherwise, it's hard to have fun with it until you get 70%+ crit chance, which usually happens past the halfway point of the game.
Everything else about these games, screams - Masterpiece! They where super ahead of their time when it comes to the pure RPG element. There are no games even to this day, in which the player is so influential to the game world. And that's just a small part of the magic of Gothic 1 & 2. I'm not even gonna talk about the music the atmosphere, and the masterful open world building, exploration and enemy placement. They are brilliant in keeping they player curious and surprised all the time. Just compare that with the overrated boring trash world that Skyrim has.
Hey detailliebe, gutes Video letzten Samstag.
ОтветитьThink we are ready for Chronicles of Myrtana review
ОтветитьGreat videos, these are quiet entertaining. But in all the videos its quite obvious to see that he did not understand the story and the dialogs wich explain everything like whats about the gods and the ore....
ОтветитьI HATE WITCHER 3, AND MANY OTHER GAMES :) I LOVE GOTHIC 1 AND GOTHIC 2 THOUGH, I AM ON LEVEL 24 RIGHT NOW ON MY FIRST GOTHIC 2 PLAYTHOUGH RIGHT NOW! YES I AM YELLING! THATS WHY THERE IS CAPS BECAUSE I AM YELLING! LOL I AM EVEN YELLING WHILE LAUGHING, HENCE LOL AND NOT lol
ОтветитьIts a shame, more recent PB games lost most of the Gothics fantastic game mechanics :( It became somewhat nuttered and I never understand why they are still trying to compete with Elder Scrolls type of games. First Risen was pretty damn good, but it only changed for worse since...
ОтветитьTerrible game, except WoW everything that you put out of the box is better.
ОтветитьWatching this series like yearly has become a trandition of mine by now
ОтветитьThe best game RPG ini my life my childhood 2004
Ответитьthe opening was so low res, that to this day I wonder if Rhobars armor is glowing or its the pixels glitching out 🤣
ОтветитьVoice acting, gameplay, map, inventory, fighting, quests, factions, everything in gothic and gothic 2 is epic, legendary, most greatest rpg eveeer
ОтветитьDude, every once in a while I come back to your videos and I'm being reminded how awesome they are. I wish you would come back to do them, I think you would do much better nowadays than when you put them out to the world. There are even more monetisation options as well. If you have no intention of making videos anymore, at least let us know you are alive and well. All the best in whatever you are doing.
ОтветитьI love Gothic but I haven't played it for a while and I really loved your video here you have a new subscriber you're hilarious
ОтветитьBroooo!! Why you forgot bullet
ОтветитьWaiting on Dave to make Gothic remake review :(
ОтветитьI will recognize the Planescape credits tune everywhere. Good job you fellow man of culture you

ОтветитьTHE BEST GAME EVER
ОтветитьThis good old game, It opened my eyes.
ОтветитьMasterpiece.
Ответитьthis is how it looks when dumb jackass making videos
ОтветитьThis guy is so talented with his videos it's a shame he hasn't uploaded since :/
ОтветитьAlways come back to this series after a while or so. Can remember a time few years ago, pre-pandemic, watching the Gothic 3 part while on acid at 4:00 AM and slowly sipping smirnoff with orange juice. Too bad you didn't stick to YT Durmin but thanks for what you took the time to make. Gothic is one of my fav games, combat aged so badly you can't share it with everyone unless they're old, hardcore, sweaty cave nerds that played things like Crussaders of Might and Magic on PC/PSX It's like Johnny Walker's Blue Label, an elixir, un elissir. As this series. Im thinking on getting the Sleeper's mark inked, idk, maybe will update. Big love man.
Ответитьthe best rpg ever
Ответитьi watched this video like the 15th time now too bad his ravens cry video got taken down and he is not producing anymore content guy was so talented at what he did
ОтветитьThis is my best game ever. Gothic I and Gothic II
ОтветитьI suspected Diego was supposed to be Sean Connery from Highlander. Acts as your mentor similarily
ОтветитьEpisode 1 is the most fun where you can finish quests in anyway you perceive you want them done. You can maximize your XP gain, ore gain whichever side you want or take from the NPCs everything they have. Including their lives. I remember wiping out the entire Old Camp before proceeding to do the same with New Camp. Episode 2 and 3 kind of leaves the place almost the same except for new spawns and storyline but then it gets kind of linear RPGing.
ОтветитьCrazy cool shit about Gothic 1
1. When you take down a vendor/merchant everytyhing he is selling you can take off his body.
Another crazy cool shit about Gothic 1
If you get really good at the fighting system you can actually get some of the best weapons in the game early on just by beating really strong enemies. So it comes down to your gameplay levels and knowledge on how far you can get in the game early on.
Magic is incredibly powerful in Gothic 1 and 2 as magic should be. They are used as ways to get around challenges you normally couldn't get around. Scroll format is limited so you have to use them in the worst situations or to get past someone hard to beat.
ОтветитьLove how you made all the camps end up hating you. That's just how it is in Gothic
ОтветитьI'm not sure if this dialog appears only when you join a sect camp, but I remember when cor angar said to me I'm the most powerful man in the colony now. I was mind blown, it was the first time a game actually acknowledged that I really am the most powerful man in the entire game's world. In other games people are going to still treat you like shit despite you can kill them with one finger.
ОтветитьEvery year I watch your Gothic videos over and over again. Wherever you are and what ever you do, thank you for all the work you put into your Gothic videos. Thank you for the masterpieces. its 9 years now and I still think about you and your Gothic videos. We really miss you brother, I hope youre fine and again thank you for the Gothic videos. These videos helped me alot in darker times. Dave thank you for everything. I hope you are doing well and never forget "Everything will be fine"
ОтветитьYou need to return for the remake
Ответитьjust stopping by like always. my favorite gothic series. hope you dont delete ever this. its all masterpiece. love you and hope you are doing good
ОтветитьControl scheme resembles the one from old Tomb Raiders - they were still wildly popular when G1 was released.
Ответитьbinged all the vids years ago when i got a bad cold, fever and all, so now everytime that happens(once or twice a year lol) i just rewatch all of them. mf was getting 100k+ views on GOTHIC vids and still quit ytb smh.
