Good morning Dana. Today we have an early bird deadline for OSS, AVID Impact Day, and a reminder about Dana Clubs.

Today is Thursday, August 29th, 2024.

For 6th graders, the last day of Early Bird Registration for OSS is tomorrow, Friday, August 30th. To take advantage of the discounted price, please bring a check or cash of $420 to the Dana office. Next week, the price goes up to $440!

And for 8th graders, the clock is ticking to sign up for your trip to Pali. Payments are due to Mrs. Tan in the office by September 16th. Paying for the camp automatically signs you up, and we’d love to see as many 8th graders there as possible. Late sign-ups can’t be accepted, so don’t miss the September 16th deadline.

Tomorrow is the first annual National AVID Impact Day. Take a moment and picture yourself at the end of this school year. When you look back on this year, what do you want to be proud of? What do you want your impact to be? And why? Tomorrow at lunch on the stage in the quad, there will be templates available to share your impact statement. Selfies with your statement are also encouraged!

There’s an opportunity for some 8th graders. AVID is looking for three 8th grade students who are interested in helping the AVID 7 class. Your week would be 2 days of working with the 7th graders, and 3 days of study hall. You also get to go on the exciting AVID field trips. This will mean changing your elective class, but taking zero period PE to keep an elective is an option. For more information or to register your interest, see Mrs. Hamblen in room 13, or email [email protected].

Dana Clubs are launching soon. If you’re interested in starting a lunchtime club, the deadline for club proposals is tomorrow, Friday August 30th. Mr Long sent an email to all student accounts with information about starting a lunchtime club along with a link to the club registration form. So check your inbox and be sure to get your proposal in before the end of the day tomorrow.

On Friday’s, Spirit and ASB play music in the quad for everyone to enjoy. QR codes are posted around the campus for you to suggest songs for the playlist. Please make sure that all the song suggestions are clean and school appropriate.

Hey Mariners, starting September 4th, every Wednesday the Ship Shop is open during lunch to sell Yo-dots and popsicles. Yo-dots are 4 dollars each, and popsicles are only 1 dollar each. Make sure to drop by for a sweet and refreshing treat!

Starting from September 9, that’s next Friday, ASB will start counting spirit points every Friday. To earn these points every Friday, wear red or wear your dana gear. Each house competes to get the most spirit points by the end of the semester. The house with the most points gets a prize.

That’s all the announcements for today. Have a great day.
