Blind Tik Toker Lucy Edwards Lets Guests Walk In Her Shoes In Sensory Wedding | Good Morning Britain

Blind BBC broadcaster, content creator, and disability activist Lucy Edwards began losing her sight at the age of 11 and six years later went completely blind. At 4 years old Lucy was diagnosed with incontinentia pigmenti, a rare genetic skin condition which can cause a person to lose their vision. She met her partner, Ollie Cave, in 2015 before losing her sight completely and the couple got engaged in June 2018. When planning their wedding, which was held at Kew Gardens at the end of August, Lucy wanted her husband-to-be and their guests to experience their ceremony in the same way she would - so blindfolded them all as she walked down the aisle. Lucy says her guests “were shocked at how sensory it was. By the end of the main ceremony, everyone's blindfolds were wet with tears”. Her partner Ollie added “The moment when we all blindfolded ourselves was one of the most emotional I've ever been. We really wanted to make this moment something that was equal for both of us and I wouldn't have ever changed the way we did it. For that brief moment, everyone was experiencing my Lucy's world.”
