We could have been best friends comforting each other...I too had a somewhat undesirable childhood marred by what I can never talk about...but it shaped the person I am today...a recluse with no trust of people...why? I ask myself frequently what did I ever do to deserve the life I had growing up...

A bit different mate. Still back in the day certain things were more common. After WW2 women didn't have much help and a rogue father could start a chain of events. Luckily you had a good dad. Mine ran away when I was about 4. But that's ok I lost 1 and gained 6. The main thing outside of the 6 boys and 3 girls in the family was a decent mate. But it can be hard to be tough enough to withstand the world because it's full of ass's. I don't know how but now I'm 76 and cruising. You'll do it too. Take care mate, your attitude is good. This hit harder than ever, having experienced some of this, bullying, beatings from my dad, neglect & starvation.

Mate I’ve just lost my fiance and I’m reeling with depression please don’t shut yourself off please talk to me and we can just shoot the shot so to speak and heal watch other, I can’t believe what happened to you my friend but I can do with a friend in you and I think vice versa, I’ve just lost my fiancé due to my alcohol abuse I’m not aggressive or anything she couldn’t watch me drink myself into an early grave, but please talk to me I’m new to this an I admire your openness to this you sweetheart, don’t suffer in silence ❤️

We come from very similar backgrounds, I was SA by my mothers boyfriends (she knew she saw she done nothing) It was such a toxic upbringing fulled by alcohol, drugs and many men coming into our home. I attended over 20 schools and moved over 30x just as a child! My mother is mentally unstable and we do not have a relationship (she lives in Scotland and I am now in Wales) She would rob from me and my husband, she would take advantage of us and tell lies! I eventually just said NO more because I deserve better.
I am a happily married woman with 9 children, I'm thankful for my inner strength and my ability to see through hard times.
Your story really hit my heart and I have to say it's nice to know I wasn't alone. I am sure many others who come across this video in the months/years to come (like me) will take comfort in your words and will feel less alone.
You are an amazing guy for all you've endured, never forget your strength❤

I lived an almost identical early life as you did. I have 4 sisters and a brother too. We’re all grown up now, but we all just had to live our lives in the shapeless and ridiculous way our moronic parents deemed good enough, till we were at school leaving age. That was the age we all split and went our own way. I have very little to thank my parents for and they have passed away now. We all carry the scars of the mistreatment we suffered at the hands of hopeless parents, but we must get on with our lives. It ain’t easy Adam, but we simply must do the best we can with our lives. Thanks for sharing your story with us, I feel like I could be a friend if we lived close by. That’s down to your genuine character coming through in your story. I’m not so sure I could be good enough though. You’re a star pal, good luck with your channel and your future.

Adam, I've been following you for a while now and infact you inspired me to start my own food channel a couple of months ago. I'm a bit older that you and I can very much see myself in you, I equally had an unhappy childhood and I understand the horrors you've been through. I just wanted to say, you should be very very proud of yourself and what you are doing. You are in insperation and as someone once said to me (which I've never forgot) you are "a breath of fresh air"...... Keep up the good work. Simon 👏

A few weeks back your channel appeared in my feed and I started watching it... and kept watching it. I really like it and your talent and humor. I have three adult kids currently living with me, and I'm retired. They are in their own transitions and it is likely that they will be out of the house in a year or so. I enjoy having them around, so I'm not bothered that they are here. However, being retired I don't have an endless supply of money and I'm now feeding 5 adults! I do a lot of the cooking and have returned to my childhood years where people made soups and casseroles due to there flavor and economy. It has worked out, but I'm always on the hunt for recipes which is likely how your channel popped up. I REALLY like the fact that you do amazing cooks in a basic environment using simple tools. So many people are afraid to cook because they think they don't have the right equipment or a fancy enough kitchen. Just think how you have changed their lives by showing them that it is possible to make great food even when using a hob that doesn't want to light half of the time. I think you are funny, organized, and creative... so if you still think that you are not good enough, you are completely wrong. You absolutely are a gifted cook, so good for you. I never expected to see today's video, but I'm so glad that I did. Adam, think about how resilient you are to have gone through all of that and still have the organization and creativity to put together all of these videos. They are entertaining, but also informative and useful. In fact, I'm likely to make a variation of your sausage stew for dinner sometime this week. I can't get British sausages, but I have some nice Italian ones... I think I'll alter the spices for the stew a bit to feed my hungry hoard. They say that they like my cooking, but hey it is possible that they saying that as they get to eat for free :). I only know you via your videos, but I would like to say that you are an amazing, and talented person. Thanks for sharing, and thanks loads for all of your cooking expertise.

Hi Adam, I am quite a bit older than you ( I had been out of the Army for 30 years as you joined ) our chilhoods could not have been more different, mine was stable, loving and very middle class, yours was pure chaos. I am full of admiration for you in that you have risen above it all and not allowed it to drag you down, like you, I love to cook and am enjoying your videos more than I can say. I wish you nothing but good luck for the future.
