Dark matter is just matter that does not emit light. That is all it is.

Maybe it is some sort of super liquid? And why is it assumed that gravity works the same everywhere, maybe different rules apply in different galaxies.

What is the correction ( constants and/or variables) needed for the math to match observations?

PI, Damian pope, I have not come across any rational scientist in field of space and matter. So I have to resort to common point of reference that every one can comprehend.
You Scientist have your head so far up each other’s back side that you can not see, hear or smell anything except each others crap.
Long before Vera Rubin. Kelvin, Poincare and Zwicky. Came up with idea of Dark matter due to their ignorant of solar and galaxy evolution. The rest of you just regurgitate the crap you are fed without any reflection of it’s correctness. So today trillions is spent in manpower and resources chasing your tails looking for non existent dark matter. The rest of your talk and logic is same as 73 years old kid in W H explaining bleach injection against covid-19. Trying to make it sound logical and scientific. Yours and other major governments know this and hope you come up with correct version. Due to my treatment here in England and lack of respect to me have refused to release the information unless I am asked officially. I think it would be improved if it was a bit more in the direction of the Royal Institute and PBS Space Time , Maybe focus on one person. Don't like the music. imagine if scientists could spend more time and energy on understanding the neolithic hunter-gatherer psyche of humans and how to get around all those obnoxious evolutionary traits expressing themselves as greed, entitlement, deceit, competitiveness, lust for power, ignorance, arrogance etc etc. We ve become so many individuals on this planet that these traits are becomming a threat to all our survival along with everything else living on this planet.

No mention of Fritz Zwicky, save for a quick photo. Zwicky discovered and predicted Dark Matter while studying the Coma Cluster. Vera Rubn's follow up and very important work took place some 30 years later.

If this is the math used, then I would say oops. A galaxy is not a solar system. In a solar system there is a central mass. In a galaxy there is not. In a galaxy the central mass is much more spread out and you would need to plot 1/r^2 for at least an average mass for each collection of stars in both the center and the outer rim. Not to mention Black holes and other non radiating mass floating around in one orbit or another. And lets not forget gravity assist, where a leg of the galaxy traveling away from us would slow the light further than the speed of the sun transmitting the light, and the opposite for legs towards us. The last one is unlikely but would give wider lines from a prism.

The DARK ENERGY curtain is opening, gentlemen. Without fear of simplicity, imagine such a blooming UNIVERSE:

If stars did not move in a near geosynchronous orbit to the galactic core then inevitable they would collide with the other stars in their galactic arms. Remember you have more than 1 gravity well involved .

Personally I am happy that Neil Turok is no longer running the show at the Perimeter Institute. The reason for this is that Neil had an affinity to reduce everything to a common denominator. Because he so reasoned the entire universe is simple and does not have the complexity that some theorist say it has.. Neil supposition is that the entire universe is what we can extrapolate from a time perspective... There are Huge problems with this so called simple universe... first is we don't know what the boundaries are or even if there are any boundaries. and if there are non than do the condition of physics remain the same and if the universe is limited in size then what conditions exist outside of our universe... And more over why is time and dimension a subjective element of gravity, inversely so it would seem... Many questions and Neil never produced a convincing argument other then oh look we did not find any other particles at the LHC. That of course could be because the collisions are not energetic enough.. Non is discussed.. So my take on all of this is that Simple minds can only produce simple answers.....

THE TOP DOWN UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT GALAXIES TRULY ARE AND REPRESENT (ON BALANCE):

A galaxy consists of invisible AND VISIBLE SPACE in fundamental equilibrium AND BALANCE. Importantly, a galaxy consists of stars together AND stars apart ON BALANCE. Galaxies are CLEARLY representative of what are gravity AND ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy in fundamental equilibrium AND BALANCE !!!! Indeed, stellar clustering ALSO proves ON BALANCE that ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity (ON/IN BALANCE) !!! GREAT. Consider what are Fermi bubbles !!! Obviously, this clearly constitutes a gigantic breakthrough in physics. A galaxy is consistent with F=ma AND E=mc2 ON BALANCE !! Dark matter 'exists' to explain faster than expected galactic orbital velocities in their outer reaches. But, since that doesn't fit Newtonian mathematics, a new or modified mathematics is being dreamed up. But two wrongs don't usually make a right. Neither has been seen or proven. Could one be merely covering for the other?

And there seems not a shred of evidence for either. Are we 'seeing' what scientific wisdom 'expects' to see - and not daring to offer an obvious and eminently simpler answer - such as in the tale of The Emperor's New Clothes?

There is an obvious clue, which has been hinted at repeatedly but its significance missed. That clue is gravitational lensing.

Has anyone considered that galaxies can (and quite likely do) MAGNIFY THEMSELVES - through their own gravitational lensing? Perhaps all galaxies are inherently self-aggrandising egotists?

If galaxies really do appear to us larger than their true sizes, would this not explain faster than expected orbital velocities at various 'observed' galactic radii?

No weird matter. No funny mathematics. Just a lens. What sparked man's interest in astronomy in the 17th century could also unlock its greatest mystery in the 21st. QED.
