I was actually using dnf and I got stuck. I am working on a VPS with CentOS 8 and is giving me a tough time. Kindly help with regards to the kernel upgrade because "make dnf-pkg" did not work.

For background tasks, does anyone object to doing it this way instead?
Run the task
press ctrl + z to pause it
type bg to start it in the background
type disown to detach it from your session so that you now can log out or do whatever without terminating the task.

Usually this is how I do it without screen.
