When everything in your life seems enormously big and overwhelming all the time and you're very tired of fighting the battle the content of this video seems like climbing Mount Everest
ОтветитьI’m 77 and drive a school bus . I asked my doctor about adhd medication and because of my age she thought strong stimulants would not be safe. I am taking Wellbutrin, not a high dose. I have suffered from emotional dis regulation my whole life. You mentioned non stimulant medications which I will look into. You’re an amazing Doctor to have such knowledge on this subject.
ОтветитьAbsolutely right, I overreact without thinking. It’s destroyed family relationships.
ОтветитьMy ADHD turned into odd and I started to abuse and sell my meds to my looser buddies
ОтветитьSo beautifully done
ОтветитьI'm suspected to suffer from ADHD and would've liked to educate myself watching this presentation, but it's just too monotonous for me to keep focus.
I'll have to find another source, more suitable to my way of digesting input.
Nevertheless thank you. 🙏🏼✨
I’m told to just move on yeah rite
ОтветитьDr Walsh .. what about nutrition protocols Dr. Walsh did extensive study on how food impacts people with neurological conditions like ADHD. Thank you very much and it is so important to remember that we as parents need to stay calm.
ОтветитьI don't think anybody can control their emotions - We simply have a degree of choice at the behavior we select in response to emotions. Some groups (ex. children, women, and people with ADHD and cluster B disorders) have a lesser degree of choice, on average. I believe ADHD is a disorder of time perception, at both the infinitesimal and macro levels - And choice is all about present actions having future effects - Whether it's interrupting a conversation, or applying force to a steering wheel.
ОтветитьI'm 52 and just been assessed 😮
ОтветитьI really really dislike much of the way Barkley talks about ADHD
ОтветитьThanks for this information. Better late than never! 😅
ОтветитьFinally diagnosis at 53 years old. I have two children diagnosed before me. My whole life as a struggle with impatience and frustration. I almsit lost my job last year because of an explosive emotional reaction, and then i walked out. 😢 i feel validated. 🙏❤️🩹
ОтветитьI wish I could get my now ex wife to see this. She knows she has it but does nothing to help it.
ОтветитьVery powerful, thank you so much 🙏
ОтветитьI very much appreciate the content, but why do the voices sound like speaking into a tin can? While I understand, that the interview partner does not have professional sound equipment available, but why is this on the ADDtitude side?
ОтветитьI also struggle with the "tone" . I get into trouble with my husband almost every day. I will say something nice and next thing i hear him shouting. Apparently whatever i said had the opposite effect. I just wish i could have one week as a normal adult. Instead of coming home and feeling like a teenager in trouble with their parents
ОтветитьDiagnosed with ADHD at 58. Can't seem to find a counselor or coach that is covered by insurance. Have been doing without a counselor for years since the diagnosis because of an insurance change. 😧 Wish I would have known. This webinar about emotional disregulation is completely on point. ADHD has hampered my work, career, relationship, marriage, everything. Still does.
ОтветитьYes get that rhino skin on people. Everyone will judge you even the people saying they want to help
ОтветитьThanks for talking about adhd in a parent
ОтветитьI have to avoid all stimulants like caffeine because it just amplifies everything and sends me into a 24 hour tail spin.
ОтветитьI am sick and tired to of polite to people who try to fk me or something. So no emotional breaks.
ОтветитьI'm 66, so you're just 66 years too late! I'm going to retire in 9 months, because I never get mad at dogs!
ОтветитьOh it is! F'k people for expecting us not to get mad! 🖕🏻
ОтветитьWould anyone here consider cutting down on sugars in general ? I’ve seen so many studies by prominent scientists showing that symptoms can be mitigated. I’m doing this myself and it’s really helping.

ОтветитьMy anxiety has tripled with middle age. My childhood was constantly being told i was a bad boy, i was hyper and took ritalin, it helped with school. But my life has been nothing but rage, impulsive buying, self loathing and addiction. Nobody understands 😂me, but this guy does. I am shocked i am still alive, life is not fun with adhd
ОтветитьAudio is suboptimal.
ОтветитьAdd drinking to this and it is problematic.
Ответитьmid content tho
ОтветитьPrayer and meditation. That's what helps me. Every. Single. Day.
ОтветитьMy family still to this day call my outbursts ‘having a tantrum’ and say it’s a choice I make to get angry and not calm down straight away
ОтветитьOutburst, regret, apologies, self loathing. Repeat.
ОтветитьMy Sun in Leo man has 6 planets in Leo. And he has anger problems. He refuses to get diagnosed and I am curious if other adhd people have intense astro charts??
ОтветитьSo grateful for this webinar! Thank you 😊
ОтветитьI am praying for your fast recovery Dr. Barkley :)
ОтветитьAs someone who was diagnosed later in life (37), the lack of emotional regulation is definitely the most devastating part of ADHD for me. I've managed to mask or make coping mechanisms for many other aspects of my condition, but no matter what i do it's SO HARD to regulate how I feel. Even when I logically know a certain feeling isn't appropriate, or is 'silly', or that it's spiralling, I just can't get myself out of it. The logical part of my brain will literally be like "this is unnecessary, someone only said/did x, there's no reason to be crying/getting angry over this very tiny thing", but it's like I just can't control myself. I at least understand when I'm in the wrong and can apologise and explain my behaviour to understanding family and friends, but it doesn't lessen that feeling of helplessness that I'm not able to even listen to myself.
Ответитьwhat do you do if one parent has ADHD and ODD? How do you parent the child to prevent ODD if one parent is role modeling? Is it impossible?
ОтветитьRSD…..yup that’s a side affect to
Rejection sensitivity
Almost 50 and just starting to learn about things like this. I cannot express how much I wish I would have had this information 30 years ago, would have saved me a lot of grief and pain. I have a son w/ADHD, and watching him grow has been one of the most surreal experiences of my life. I feel...privileged in a way because my parents had none of this information at all and neither one has ADHD so to them it was this weirdness with their son. I've been trying to teach my son from an early age about how to recognize and modulate his emotions, particularly frustration!! That seems to be a major struggle for the both of us.
I just wanted to say thank you to this channel and to Dr. Barkley for being here. You've become the lighthouse I didn't know I needed, and I am very grateful.
🥰
ОтветитьParacetamol is so helpful for this.
ОтветитьPsychedelics are just an exceptional mental health breakthrough. It's quite fascinating how effective they are against depression and anxiety. Saved my life.
ОтветитьThank you so much Dr. Barkley!! I'm 51 and just diagnosed with ADHA and Dislexia... A very good challenge in my life!!! Your knowledge is helping me to recognize myself again...
Thank you ADDitude for sharing...
Ps. When I wrecked my Volvo, it was a no-brainer to get another one. You should see the pictures!
