What an epic adventure! Loved every second of the vlog. You're such an inspiration and always done with a smile on you. Well done kiddo 🙌 and thanks for taking us along 🏴
Ответить$10 for foam sleeping mat?! How do you live in USA with dose prices? It's about 5€ in Europe (including UK).
ОтветитьAmazing. Kept me up to 230am! You rock.
ОтветитьAmazing video - thanks so much for putting this together!!
ОтветитьWow lots of great content and a review for me
ОтветитьSeriously? You think a synthetic boot is more breathable then real leather? Wow. I’ve certainly never had that experience! Numerous times the way I’ve noticed (on myself or others) that a shoe is NOT leather-even when people were claiming that it was-was because of lack of breathability! The synthetic shoe makes your feet sweat and stink so much! Leather all the way for me! Clear win!
ОтветитьWhat a wealth of backpacking knowledge! thank you
ОтветитьNothing like hot mommy bags!
ОтветитьWar Eagle
ОтветитьI watched this end to end while on a long road trip. I am a beginner middle aged female hiker. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I learned so much! Thank you!
ОтветитьPerfect vid to keep me company while a braise is in the oven. Your demeanor is so comforting!
ОтветитьGet a dyneema tarp with doors. That way you can close them and hide your boobies. LOL !
ОтветитьThis is such an awesome video. This newbie really appreciates it!
ОтветитьThat puppy knows, give me some snout, 😅😅😅
ОтветитьSticks can be used as tent steaks by sharpening one end slightly.
ОтветитьI am about to go on my first camping weekend and you explained everything so well, that I don't feel anxious. Thank you so much for all the valuable information so I can make the right choices in gear that will work for me. I know this video was done 5 years ago but the content works well even now. I am so glad I found your channel!!! THANKS!!!!!😃
ОтветитьNice video. V comprehensive and no unnecessary frills or BS.
ОтветитьGreat vlog for everyone.
ОтветитьStart selling your underwear 🍀🍀🍀🤧🤑
ОтветитьThis is such an AMAZING resource. Thank you for creating and sharing all of this information. You may have already heard this but our local Search and Rescue Trainers request each of its members to watch this video as part of our training. 🙂❤
ОтветитьStep 1: Report to local US Army Career Center
Step 2: Enlist as 11B
Step 3: Don't quit/survive.
By the time you leave the Army, you'll have rucked thousands of miles on trails that probably don't even exist, and slept rough in every condition imaginable.
Start selling your used underwear🤧🤑🤑🤑🤑
ОтветитьI love how enthusiastic you are in sharing and creating a community for safe adventurers!! Massively appreciate all your great research and personal experiences!!

Ответитьmaybe use sticks where you can n save your prop.
ОтветитьCamp shoes should have a. Closed toe.ive wounded my feet a couple of times in the yard pock
ing sticks in between my toes....not fun.
....really the biggesttent consideration is weight.
ОтветитьWow just the sheer amount of time researching, filming and editing the content of this video is a huge undertaking, so thank you very much for putting in all that work for us!
ОтветитьGOOD ADVICE FOR YOU:
YOU ARE GIVING $ AWAY! YOU TALK TOO MUCH, OMG ITS ANNOYING ACTUALLY! Nothing wrong with your excellent presentation skills and highly informative videos, but you are not capitalising on the fact that your very lengthy videos could be divided into shorter, categorised, more subject focused, videos. People have short attention spans and this is a better marketing strategy in terms of views. Make a quick Backpacking Basics videos which points to a list of other videos on your channel.
Awesome!!!!!!
ОтветитьHi seeing where you are, 10 plus yrs ago when I did a tour of Welsh coast and then on way home with my last doggy jess 😢 but don't miss the home of last dragon in wales ,I think it's at Newcastle Emlyn ,well worth a visit we were there early morning and took pic of a seat from the back that looked very rude ,😳in the sun
Ответить4 years ago! but still a very good video on preparing yourself for backpacking
ОтветитьI've got a 4-5night backpacking trip in may as part of a wilderness medicine class and have never been backpacking before (but have done plenty of hiking and camping). We need to provide our own gear and they don't tell us until much later everything we need so I really appreciate this video as it will let me start practicing walking/hiking with the gear much earlier so that I can be physically ready for the trip.
ОтветитьI know this is an old video, but I can't express how awesome this video is, so glad I watched it all the way through.
ОтветитьThe algorithm always ends with this video!
ОтветитьWhen I backpacked, I'd bring a bungie or a piece of line with a hook so I can put the bungee or line around a tree and hang my pack to keep it up off the ground and at a more convenient height for unpacking for setting up camp
ОтветитьThe video has yet to start but I already liked&subscribed just out of gratitude for the amount of work you obviosly put in it. Thanks! Now I'll actually watch the video :)
ОтветитьBuch a Hokum ! Blah Blah Blah !
ОтветитьDixie please stop cooking with an aluminum pot. All your health issues can come from metal toxicity. I just carr, not trying to be rude xx
ОтветитьThank you for all your good, informative videos. This one got a lot more listenable for me after the loud music cut out. For those of us who are older, and did not grow up with loud music blasting in elevators or restaurants, sometimes it’s hard to hear the human voice while trying to fight through the music. So I appreciate the second half of the video being easier to listen to when the music went away.
ОтветитьHey Dixie, what brand and model is that sleeping pad you’re using in your video it’s half size I would like to check into that for my little girl. Can you tell me what company may be a name trying to find it on Amazon not having much luck
ОтветитьI have backpacked in a rugged pair of Tevas (usually with socks) for years and am very happy with the combo. I used to backpack in some older montrail mountaineering boots that weighed about 5 pounds for the pair. It did indeed feel like an extra 20 pounds in my pack... I'm feeling exhausted just thinking about it.
For my 900 mile section of the PCT this August, i plan to wear trail runners and use some mid weight Tevas as camp shoes that i can also hike in. Being able to rotate footwear does my feet a world of good.
