Good video Jake. I love the new BMW, its very you! The E30 325is has always been one of my favourite cars, infact iv had 2 in the past!!!
Ответитьexcellent video. that harbor freight car port looking kinda rough....
ОтветитьProtip: If you don't have A/C, rotate the oil filter housing 180 degrees and point the oil filer out the front. I did this on my car and it makes oil changes so much easier with the long tube headers.
ОтветитьI don't think so. In answer to the title card. E46 is sort of on the cusp of disposable trash. At least as perceived by the general public. The older one, even with problems, will always roll charisma a little higher.
ОтветитьDoes the car have functioning a/c? I noticed that you had the windows open all the time in the video.
ОтветитьWelcome to the world of E30’s! I agree, E30’s are far more interesting than E46’s - I own both an E30 M3 and an E46 M3 and for fun weekend nonsense, I pick the E30 M3 every time because it “handles like a go cart". You said in the video that BMW still makes parts for the E30’s - that’s not been my experience, half the things I need for my E30 M3 are now total unobtanium. I wish BMW did a better job with supporting their older cars. Right now, I can’t buy a water pump for my E34 M5 S38!!
Ответитьwhy didn't you fit a remote mount oil filter thing before making sure you'll probably never be able to change it again?
ОтветитьYeah but how much cooler is this BMW good trade
ОтветитьCan we staple a GoPro to Grimes and just see what comes back as footage??
ОтветитьAnyone who uses an impact on head bolts is a dumbass that should NOT work on any car. The things you see on the internet are ridiculous
Ответить😊 I may have encouraged this trade - I had commented that this was the best car in your yard. I was short on details of course...still this is something more worthwhile to spend fixing than the 'newer' BMWs. I like that it's just a '3' for badging. Good trade, Jake 🤙
ОтветитьWhat a great channel !
ОтветитьHad a Henna Red (orange) 84 318i - loved it. That design is timeless - I'll drool every time I see another on the road in any condition
ОтветитьIt’s always something different when you put out a video. Fun, fun, fun!! Cheers!! 😎
ОтветитьThe zhp lore is crazy
ОтветитьMy mom got a brand new red '88 318i when I was a kid. She loved it. Only bad thing about it was driving it on snow and ice in Swedish winters...
When I got my license she'd traded it in for a '96 Madeira Violet metallic E36 318iS Coupé. Not very fast, but that engine loved to rev into the red!
That big German hammer is called a "Lumpenthumpen"".......
ОтветитьThis E30 desperately needs a new exhaust, something more factory style with twin tail pipes.
Oh how I love a nice E30 325...
Cool now it sounds like a Ford Cosworth. ...just playing, but the missing sun visor is serious!
ОтветитьSo many things. I raced an E30 325iS for a while. I did all my own wrenching so I have some insight. 1) Shifter: don't overlook the little foam piece in system with the coupler as well as the coupler's nylon bushing (I have a foam piece and a few old couplers available if you want them). The plastic pivot point the shift lever sits in can loosen up with time. Also, get some bushings for the "bitch clip" that mounts to the transmission and then you should be good. 2) Use E30 M3 lollipops. They are solid with offset holes which helps get a little negative camber and prolongs the life of the bushing. Combine with the aluminum control arms with the better ball joints for even more goodness. 3) There is about 40lbs of sound deadening material on the trunk floor. 5) Two bolts missing between intake bracket and valve cover. 6) Engine mounts shot based on how much the engine moved when you rev'd it. Trans mounts likely shot as well. That should get you started. 7) Redline MTL may quiet down the transmission some but it needs some bearings is my guess.
ОтветитьVery good decision.
ОтветитьAbout 20(?) years ago, I got a deal on a 318i around the same time one of my friend got an older 320i. It wasn't too long before we agreed that BMW actually meant Black Men Walking.....
ОтветитьGood trade!
ОтветитьProduction value was off the charts
Ответитьyou traded a running zhp with a fresh vanos unit for that? maaaan... no
ОтветитьBro both of us need to get a set of ratcheting wrenches and just stop suffering with the millimeter turns
ОтветитьFor me the 80's BMW would be an E28 535is or an E24 635CSI. I had a 535i, but sadly, it was an automatic. A good friend had an '86 635 CSI 5-speed that his mom had bought new. I got to drive that when it was new and again 35 years later when it was high miles and missing 2nd gear, but still drove great.
ОтветитьWell on the plus side, it's mainly fixed so you don't have to listen to people tell you you made a horrible choice for a month while you fix it, on the other hand the cancer on that hood could lead to an amputation, and I''m almost certain I saw mold on that "3" in the back, but at least you;re enjoying it and honestly that's the only think I think matters. Enjoy the vrooms!
ОтветитьGreat content Jake. Thanks enjoyed it
Ответитьummmmmm. intro fire 🫕
ОтветитьWhat might've been a big mistake turned out to be something that deserves a second chance
Ответитьshort answer? yes. Long answer... is in progress. forever.
ОтветитьQuality content 😂 👌
ОтветитьNot a BMW fan but nice job on a very relatable car. And you sort of finished it. Flip it and do another vehicle like this. I'll watch.
ОтветитьI would replace that muffler
ОтветитьYou've got some rust problems if you want to work on such things. Does anyone make a dash cover that can just be slapped on? The dash cracks would really bug me. Always fun when a new 100%Jake video drops.
ОтветитьCongrats on the recent channel successes, like to see you putting out content again. You Gotta do something about the backyard landscaping/junkyard though 😂
ОтветитьReady for a 24v swap. Then it will be super fun.
ОтветитьYou know....Jake should just give in and open a BMW repair shop as his primary business!
ОтветитьIt's fun puts a smile on my face.
ОтветитьAt first I thought you had sold the farm to buy a barn, but by the end, I understood your choice. Nice work saving it.
ОтветитьI met Ed & Tyler at a castle in Kansas while I was on the Gambler 500. We chatted about Subarus. Great guys!
ОтветитьM30 straight six, or talk to Jerrod at Questionable Garage about a v8 translplant, BMW of course.
ОтветитьI really like your air cooled 911 & 325is metaphor. In an ironic twist, I had an 88 Jetta GLi 16v, and used to think of it in the same way, only I was comparing it to the 325is. Great video.
ОтветитьMerch....key chain that is your head....you have a very very unique head.
ОтветитьBest of luck with this car.
ОтветитьI would bet good money that hoovies is somewhat planning to hire grimes to work on his cars in hoovies garage 3.0
ОтветитьSeems like a solid car!
