You need both . One to record video, one to alert the police and homeowner. Most , most video system do not alert the police. Home video systems are mainly self monitored or record only and you watch it later . The notification to you and the police is most important.

Burgular alarms and cameras are more for keeping a watchful eye on your property above all else

Hi I'm looking for a bundle for a RV park , I want WIFI, solar the longest distance from the NVR would be under two hundred feet although I have WIFI through the park outside .I'm looking for six cameras. What do you recommend. And I don't want to a monthly fee ,I want to have a monitor in my office to be visual all the time .

My #1 reason for the alarm system is the smoke/fire and carbon monoxide detectors. Saved my life more than once.

Or tougher entry like steel doors n reinforced windows and just getting someone to just kick it to protect it better hopefully.. my cams suck but it's cool I wanted a system that can't be detected by thieves scanning the home and doesn't depend fully on WiFi ..my cams keep getting damaged before I can even get the evidence to make a report n and I'm convinced it's my neighbor and my ex who's been messing with us. I wanted to catch one of them but they go straight for whatever cameras and it's destroyed and my home is the spot for weirdos now I left I bought another house n I'm getting ready to see how to sweep my home cuz I get creeped out n ppl have warned me that I ignored it so I don't get worked up. It's just odd that my neighbors annoying cams came down after we moved n now no cameras on us ..the neighbors across the street tho we can see they're tripod 😂like yeah your not weird n it's illegal but I'm just going to reinforce the entire place and go rounds with the city. Visual neucence is the complaint like ok then look at the flowers I planted or just don't look at us ..n yeah so ..I got creeped out when my neighbor is everywhere we are even at the trash playing it off n he sure is something. His huge orange light is so huge and bright that I could not sleep in my bedroom and every time I'd go into my bathroom I felt odd cuz he'd be messing around outside trying to look like he's working and there's odd device names that I don't recognize n well I just wanted proof n I feel like the city or something is doing this because why tell the gas company I abandoned my home only cuz I was at our other house n the roads were bad n three weeks n the gas heat hot water hasn't been on for almost 2 years I've burnt out two ovens now n so thank God I moved n now I'll have my attorney find out what I can do cuz that was taking a tool on my mental health and who's to say he won't hurt us n it's illegal so I'm going to bed 😂

Why not get both? If the cameras are down while ur away, the alarm will still go off. Also f vivint. These clowns keep harassing people in my neighborhood acting like theyre casing not trying to sell.

No man, everything is towards minimizing the risk, everything helps, cameras, alarmas, dogs, locks, etc, etc, etc…. 100% secure is an illusion.

Everything he’s saying is true. So I’ll just tell you why you might want it. The reason to have it is cause most break ins happen when your not home. Just get both. The advantage of a monitoring center is they already have the information such as your address. So you’re not in the phone explaining to the police how you know there are people at your house. Giving them your address.

What does bypassing a zone do? And is it safe?

I have four layered system.

1, External camera with AI and face recognition software. Those are POE caeras, not WiFi.

2. All the glass windows have glass break alarm.

3. All windows and doors also have sensors and the inside of the house have motion detectors and indoor cameras.

4. I carry several self defense tools to defend the house against intruders.

We have Installed hardwired and wireless CCTV, burglar alarm that detects smoke, panic buttons, window smash or hit sensors, a thick metal front door even the police can’t break in, we have 2 guard dogs, both me and my wife took shooting lessons and have legally obtained firearms, and own two shotguns, we have a secret room we have big gates with electric fence.

And guess what, the robbers still came one night and managed to get into the property.

I do t want my dog involved at all if criminals are inside. I have the CCTV because I want to know if someone is in there with my dog. I don’t care what kind of dog I have I don’t want them going up against a criminal. They won’t think nothing of hurting or killing a dog

The issues with alarms they call you and if you don't answer they call your back up. Too much time passes I had cameras up at my dad's home saw two people come in called the police and I arrived before the police did. Get cameras!

Cameras only work if they don't cover their faces. Most do now. But better confirmation someone is trying to break in though.

What about just preventing the person from entering in the first place, any good doors, or windows that can't be broken easily? I don't think they can pick locks with credit cards anymore. Not saying this will totally protect you (nothing will 100%) but they have to get in to get your stuff first, either by picking a lock/ or breaking in.

Proactive with cameras means you have to carry your phone around all the time when you’re away from your property to see the pushed alerts from the camera app. That’s not practical for everyone. It seems like both types of security are needed.

This is a good video. I agree with about everything you said, however there is one area that is worth considering. There are many folks out there that will get paid for professional monitoring through reduced home insurance premiums. So in this case it is financially smart to have professional monitoring. I think this is a stupid insurance policy but it is what it is. In this case I think it is wise to do both to the extent you can.

George Langabeer i am planing on starting my own Alarm Company called Rory's Alarms because i like to install security cameras and Burglar alarms and Fire alarms and i have a Honeywell vista 20p alarm system and a loud MPI-11 siren driver and horn speaker one 30 watt and one 15 watt 2 in my attic and a voice driver and flush mounted speaker in my cellar and TC 2.0 self monitoring app and i feel safe and protected also i like your videos keep up the good work.

True but good to have both - cameras with AI detection and alerts/actions (blueiris/codeproject/nodered/homeassistant etc) to alert you before they enter the premises, also cabled takex 360 exterior sensors to set off the central alarm before they reach your house from the yard, then of course your internal sensors all with a UPS and gps/sim set up. Can only do so much.

This guys said the very true, monitoring companies are just money making machines with RMR , surveillance are more accurate and efective then a burglar alarm system

George, I had a break in at my house, teen kids I believe, they stolen some things including 1700's flintlock rifles. Since then for the past six months have been reading, watching and thinking about a security system to do what I want it to do. I've watched your video a few times and conclude your advice is the best of all, I want to stop them before they get in. I also don't want to pay a monthly fee, and don't like at all all the DIY high tech, computer, wifi, smartphone and battery operated sensors today, all totally Micky Mouse.

I'd like a basic hard wire system with motion detectors pointed close to the outsides of the house and then to an alarm, to stop before they get in. I'd have a key switch or code switch to turn the system on when I leave the house or going to sleep at night. Radio Shack used to sell a complete hard wire metal box system were a person could add sensors, motion, and an alarm, but they're now out of business. What do you recommend, I rather be proactive. What good are cameras alone if they get inside? Thank you

It have front Point it saved me a few times because of the loud audible alarm that scares away criminals. Without thtat My home owuld have been emptied. You are right about false alarms though. It can happen and it is $75 a pop in Philly.

The siren is the biggest deterrent with an alarm system. And ill take a fee compared to taking the time to look at the video and call the cops myself, when i could be using that precious time to grab my weapon and make sure my family’s safe

I’ve mostly come to the same conclusion about traditional alarm systems but there was one thing that would make it worth it IF they are reliable.

A panic button would be something we can keep in the room for elderly or children so that if there is an intruder they can set off the alarm and send request for help to 911 directly.

No idea why his advice would be not to get an alarm but, it is still a deterrent. I agree CCTV is great but it's all about reducing risk and he has not said anything to say that having an alarm doe snot reduce risk. a crack head will still try if there are cameras and lights. A siren brings attention to your property which no crack head wants. I don't mind waking my neighbours.

1st "The Ring" is not an alarm system, if it doesn't meet UL standards than its junk

2nd ...You really need both. Security Alarm and Video...

3rd...It's $30 a month...thats 1 meal...you can avoid 1 meal for an alarm...it wont break the bank

Both is good because what if you’re notifications going off on your phone but you’re at work or whatever and you don’t see it or catch it..at least the police will be called for you by paying a month

My issue with cameras is the alerts come through too slowly. I've got a Google Nest Cam on my front porch as well as a Google Nest Doorbell. The alerts come through 60s - 3-4 minutes after the actual event. Are there any brands that don't have this problem?
