I hate how schools like this put kids with anxiety and kids with behavioral issues together. It actually disgusts me. I have autism and only just made it through my first year of secondary school due to anxiety and depression and ED stuff. My ED got so bad that my mum had to take me out of school. A few months later we found a school that sounded like it might have been better for me as they helped kids with anxiety but I was a little cautious bc they also delt with the behavioural stuff too. The second we walked through that door to the reception just to have a look around there was a kid screaming their head off and kicking stuff and throwing their shoes at people. I immediately wanted to leave but I was too nervous to tell my mum that so we just stayed. It was awful. Also found out u had to be supervised in the toilets to prevent SH. No thx. Anyway I never went to school again and ended up having an at home tutor literally for one hour a week. The education system is soooo messed up

This is an awful case. However, as others have said, just because you may grow up in a violent/abusive household or are neglected, it does not mean that you will turn out to be a monster capable of killing someone or doing harm to them in any way. At the same time, when it comes to narcissists, in particular, whilst not everyone who is forced to grow up too quickly as a child will end up being a narcissist, everyone on becomes one will have been forced to grow up too quickly as a child.

However, I know that this girl was a part of my family and was my grandparents niece. However thank you for bringing light to the topic and for the Respect on the Situation

Like Bailey Sarian says, it’s okay to feel more than one thing at once. You can feel bad for what they experienced as children but not like what they did

My partner and I almost didn't realize this is our area, the galloping goose trail goes from Langford into victoria. You could walk the whole thing, its used frequently by a solid portion of the population here. its not an empty trail by any means. The amount of teen murders here is staggering.

I have ADHD and autism and also could not attend mainstream school and had to go to a what's called 'pupil referral unit' which was a school specifically for kids with mental illness and behavioural issues as well. I know and have never met anybody else like me though ofc they're out there. It's kind of devastating to hear about somebody else like this in this case this way.

I believe you can still feel bad for what they went through as children. I see them separately tbf I understand but I do not accept the future behavior. Sometimes ( not all cases) victims become the abusers because they simply didn’t see that they had a choice or that the behavior presented by their parents was always perceived as normal. It is sad truth :/ but I still feel bad for them as kids and cannot help but wonder if someone took them away would they still have ended up the way they did?

these kinds of cases are like hell for me because im such an empathizer so my brain like short circuits hearing about people with the most tragic unfair backstories committing such heinous crimes and honestly it pisses me off because they don't really deserve my empathy...but at the same time the empathy in my brain is completely detached to crimes because in my mind theres just no way that those two people could be the same person. now obviously i know that thats not even close to true but it just makes me so mad to empathize with a victim only for them to claim a victim of their own

I know Kimberly was not found because of this decision, but what on earth made the boys think it would be a good idea to start a fire on a hiking route to burn the body. Fire and smoke is one of, if not the, most effective way to alert people of your location if you are lost. They essentially lay the body of the woman they had just murdered down and then made the international distress sign pointing to the location of the body.

As for the e-girlfriend, if she had no intention of telling the police, I strongly believe she should have faced criminal punishment and it would take a hell of a lot to convince me otherwise. She lived hours away from him, so her being scared of him is not a good enough reason to justify perverting the course of justice (in my opinion).
If she was pretending to be on his side to keep him comfortable confessing more to him, that is genius.
Ultimately we don't know whether or not she went to the police, or anything about her really.

Not gonna lie, as someone who grew up with behavioral disorders, I didn't appreciate the immediate comparison to being bad people.
Imagine being told your entire understanding of the world and how it works is wrong and being told to change it. My actions were totally normal for me because they're behavioral /disorders/. They're unwell, not automatically bad people.

I know you didn't mean any offense, just wanted to give you my perspective

I can’t help but wonder about Kim’s parents. Why was she so willing to put out with malice and degradation from her “two best friends”. Were no adults talking to her about her life and her friendships? I can’t help but think you’ve failed your child if you don’t notice they’re being abused like this

This is such a heartbreaking and tragic case. I don't understand why they did not get punished for all the crimes they had done before committing this evil, disgusting, despicable and inhuman crime. If they had faced punishment for attacking other children multiple times then maybe this would not have happened to Kim. However, it's not to say it would never have happened. These sadistic scumbags thrive off seing people in pain and are so ruthless that they would have carried out their evil plan on anyone that they could. It's more heartbreaking when you call someone your friend but really your the enemy. R.I.P to Kim. My heart goes out to her family.

what i do find sad for them (i guess if you can even call it that) is that i truly don’t believe anyone has to end up this way. idk maybe because i am a survivor and a mental health professional i just feel that the right early interventions, early enough, can counteract anything, and it’s just not given in these cases where they go on to become psychopaths. i studied psychopathy a lot in college i truly feel it is made not born

It seems like there’s a big issue with putting kids with violent behavior disorders in the same class as kids with developmental and mental struggles who are more likely to be victims of those perpetrator types. There’s no real unique resources for violent kids. This also happened with Brianna Ghey, she had social anxiety issues and met her murderers in an overly broad “special help” class.
