man. so sad she didn’t feel she deserved any better friends and treatment than them. i feel like if she had just one true friend who really cared about her, someone who could’ve shown her what real friendship was, she wouldn’t have put up with what they put her through. she deserved so much better than this. i watch a lotta true crime but i don’t know why kim’s story spoke to me like this. she deserved so much better.

I don’t think that Krus hated his father for his crimes. I think he hated his father for leaving him. If he actually hated his father for this he would have never touched Kim.

I had a bad childhood. I was sexually abused for a time. I was constantly bullied by other kids and even adults. I was neglected. So much happened to me, but guess what? I didn't turn out to be a butthole.

I do believe that schools are far too easy on bullies and the school system itself should not just throw everyone into one group and expect them all to do ok. Some kids need to be separated to benefit them, some need to be separated to protect other kids.

My life has been hell, but I refuse to let what happened to me cause me to do similar to others.

I hate hate hate the "zombied out" argument for not giving your kids medication.
Of course you're gonna be a bot out of it at first when your brain suddenly works differently and you can suddenly relax and not think 24/7 about multiple different things.
I hate how doctors to this day, don't explain that this is something that will happen at first, but will go away after a while.

Seeing you get torn between genuine instinctual empathy and capitalistic fueled apathy is very unpleasant to hear. How can you say, "On one hand, i wanna pity and give empathy because he was abused as a kid, but, on the other hand, you're a horrible person who doesn't deserve it". Your empathy for both the abuser and victim can co-exist. Hurting, or otherwise abusing the autonomy of others is the only evil in this world but you can still take time to reflect and realize the murder was a failure of the system. Murder and abuse will never stop unless you start fixing the issues from the start. Prevention is key. We can't keep creating criminals to fill up the money generator of the prison system. The government does not want to help you because your suffering and your children being sacrificed makes them money. Kimberly died a tragic death and the family got the prize of paying for a funeral and a dead daughter, but the government has two criminals who will do slave labor for life at pennies on the hour. They profit off your suffering. The abusers can be safely separated from society and rehabilitated while receiving the proper care and social acclimation they need. They should not be isolated, and locked behind bars. REMEMBER, this is what caused them to murder in the first place. Being isolated from their families love and being abandoned as a child. You are reinforcing the idea that they are irredeemable, worthless, expenditure. They can be killed or isolated with no consequences. (The same behavior that landed the prisoner in jail)

It's worse now that people get out on bail and do the same sh*t again over and over again!!!😂 we should have the death penalty, but we don't, unfortunately, cause those boys should have gotten it. What a bunch of disgusting boys! It's so horrible. So sorry for the family of kim❤😢

I felt bad for their childhood but not for them on wtf they do. Their childhood trauma does not excuse their actions. You choose your path when you grow up, you either allow that trauma to be your excuse for everything or look at what you gone through and be stronger than that. Break the chain.

Regarding ADHD, there's a lot of things that most people don't realize because they don't listen to ADHD voices (including professionals).

Attention Deficit doesn't mean a low/lack of attention span the way that most people think. Frequently, we are paying attention and a) multitasking due to understimulation, b) concentrating so hard to remember everything said, or c) simply our concentration is on the "wrong" thing. That's not a lack of attention, that's an issue with memory formation & hyperfixation.

Animals were this girl's hyperfixation and I can almost guarantee you she was like trying her HARDEST to stay on task in class and just. Couldn't catch everything, either because her brain wouldn't process the information or wouldn't correctly store the information. Issues processing information often pops up as audio processing issues, but can also pop up as struggles with simply retaining information.

We're paying attention, but our brain just doesn't have the usual needed connections to store all of that information unless it is hyperfocused on the information or it is repetitiously relayed.

Additionally, frequently hyperactivity can express itself as excessive, excitable energy and this is due to the way we also deal with emotional dysregulation. We feel our emotions so intensely and so in the moment that we just exude it. But it means if we're bullied enough about it or go on meds, we mellow out.

I used to be just as bubbly and happy outwardly as this girl is described. I stopped because I quickly learned most people didn't actually like that about me unless it was in a 'socially normal' way. Eventually I just. Learned to mask and redirect that energy and stopped letting myself care that much about everything to that degree.

It's difficult, and painful. I guarantee you that what the meds did was uncover the depression beneath the exterior, btw, as the meds let her think more clearly and helped the brain process information in a more 'normal' way.

Hi I know you meant no disrespect from this and that these boys did awful things but as an autistic person who went to a specialist school calling the kids “misbehaving" or “naughty" can be quite hurtful because a lot of the time the aggression comes from overstimulation and a mix of other mental issues so calling them that can be upset ig hope you understand

It seems like there’s a big issue with putting kids with violent behavior disorders in the same class as kids with developmental and mental struggles who are more likely to be victims of those perpetrator types. There’s no real unique resources for violent kids. This also happened with Brianna Ghey, she had social anxiety issues and met her murderers in an overly broad “special help” class.

what i do find sad for them (i guess if you can even call it that) is that i truly don’t believe anyone has to end up this way. idk maybe because i am a survivor and a mental health professional i just feel that the right early interventions, early enough, can counteract anything, and it’s just not given in these cases where they go on to become psychopaths. i studied psychopathy a lot in college i truly feel it is made not born

This is such a heartbreaking and tragic case. I don't understand why they did not get punished for all the crimes they had done before committing this evil, disgusting, despicable and inhuman crime. If they had faced punishment for attacking other children multiple times then maybe this would not have happened to Kim. However, it's not to say it would never have happened. These sadistic scumbags thrive off seing people in pain and are so ruthless that they would have carried out their evil plan on anyone that they could. It's more heartbreaking when you call someone your friend but really your the enemy. R.I.P to Kim. My heart goes out to her family.

Were no adults talking to her about her life and her friendships? I can’t help but think you’ve failed your child if you don’t notice they’re being abused like this

Not gonna lie, as someone who grew up with behavioral disorders, I didn't appreciate the immediate comparison to being bad people.
Imagine being told your entire understanding of the world and how it works is wrong and being told to change it. My actions were totally normal for me because they're behavioral /disorders/. They're unwell, not automatically bad people.

I know you didn't mean any offense, just wanted to give you my perspective

I know Kimberly was not found because of this decision, but what on earth made the boys think it would be a good idea to start a fire on a hiking route to burn the body. Fire and smoke is one of, if not the, most effective way to alert people of your location if you are lost. They essentially lay the body of the woman they had just murdered down and then made the international distress sign pointing to the location of the body.

As for the e-girlfriend, if she had no intention of telling the police, I strongly believe she should have faced criminal punishment and it would take a hell of a lot to convince me otherwise. She lived hours away from him, so her being scared of him is not a good enough reason to justify perverting the course of justice (in my opinion).
If she was pretending to be on his side to keep him comfortable confessing more to him, that is genius.
Ultimately we don't know whether or not she went to the police, or anything about her really.
