Consider that the north are Democrats the south are Republicans now we are paying the price for the loss.

The union did not retreat into Nashville. Nashville was the original destination. The union won this decisively and continued to reinforce Nashville.

Love this episode and the series overall. Is there any way of finding the piece of music from the scene where Carter falls wounded? I've always loved that part of the soundtrack.

Decisive Union victory was at Battle of Nashville. Franklin was considered a costly victory the Confederate. "Two victory like this would wipe out an entire army." -Some general said something close to that.

Hood lost his arm, leg, wife, son, investment, carried out cunning strategy but lost the battle regardless - this was a man punished by some vengeful deity.

That insane racist in Richmond sent teenagers and old men to their death, that was a travesty, not some heroic charge.

When the History Channel was worth watching, I miss the old team. Karen Stone, Roger Mudd, Edward Hermann, Sander Vanocour, 96-99, so miss those years.

I live in Franklin, Tennessee. Downs Blvd...5 minutes from the battlefield & I can tell you, the time is NOW!!! It's unfortunate that Johnston was killed in 62'. He was a better general than Lee. Lucian Charles Hamilton. Franklin, Tennessee.

When as a young man I was honored to Reenact the Battle of Franklin and Nashville with the North/South Alliance on the the same grounds. It is a great memory for me. Most of us that were there that week have "aged out" of reenacting some are gone. All remembered. We honored those who Really Fought. Patriots All.

Just another comment. Hood marched on Frankilin and Nashville hoping Sherman would persue and leave or slow his march of Destruction through the South. I read that when Sherman got wind of Hood moving on Tennesee, " if Hood moves on Nashville I will send him rations"

Hood apparently was too ill to be in command of a corps, let alone an army.
Taking opium (that is what is in laudnum) makes one sleepy and lethargic.
the whole thing was a disaster before it had even begun. And thousands of dead and
badly wounded paid the price of inexcusable blunders!

Changing the name of the former Ft Hood is no crime. Hood was a horrible army commander. Should never have had a post named after him. (Same with Bragg.)
