So you say something, anyone listening claims to be 'offended' and you then find yourself needing to justify what you said. It hardly matters that you might 'get off' in the end. It is the shift to allow anyone to claim offence and cause you grief. This appears to be a stupid and ill-conceived law. It will doubtless be poorly drafted as all new laws are. It will be for the courts to clarify at the expense of the poor people caught up in this process to achieve some common sense... <sigh>

Seems to contravene a privacy standard that predates modern democracies.. ie. what is said and done in one's home is beyond the law ( Blackstone's commentaries on English Common Law). Blackstone said it mattered little what manner of grave behaviour or personal habit one might engage in inside the home, no government had the right to investigate or punish it. This standard was a cornerstone of the enlightenment, was foundational in guaranteeing gay rights, is currently quite germane and regularly cited in the protection of trans rights. Anyway, it runs both ways as it's currently written. Politicians, of all stripes, will also have to "check their thinking" now when making broad rationalizations regarding identity and characterizations. Public remarks are likely to go down or be very functional when people realize they can be called in for questioning for creating offense..by anyone. Anyway, this may be referenced in the future as "How To Lose An Election in 10 min. " . Seems to have a lot of maternal overreach and associated cultural and related authority and presumption, almost prerogative, subliminally woven into it's language.

The only truly hated minority in this country are Politicians.

The rising tide of hatred is toward the politicians and the related political machine, and not against individuals.

The law is obviously intended to be abused by people with an agenda. You don't need to know much about the law to know that the legal guidance given to politicians states that they shouldn't be enacting laws containing lots of vague & very subjective words. They know perfectly well that the police will be bombarded with complaints from activists that they can't cope with. They don't even seem to be planning to include misandry in the legislation which is a violation of the right to be treated equally under the law.

I love you Rob, but I have to disagree. There are not a "number of views across transgender communities". Maybe when it comes to hairstyles, but when it comes to anything important, people are literally ostracised and treated horrifically for daring to go against any accepted view. It's a cult. If a trans person says that children can't consent to hormone treatment or gender reassignment surgeries, they're gone. Perfectly reasonable, non-hateful views are seen as dreadful crimes in these communities if they go against the accepted narrative. Look at the sheer amount of death threats J.K. Rowling got. Disgusting levels of abuse from the trans community. It's not a place of civil discussion.

The kick off was, a jailed rapist decided he wanted to transition.
That can (and I believe was) easily blocked as he was arrested & convicted as a man.
Find me a case of transgender women attacking anyone.
