one of the saddest movie scenes i think i’ve ever seen, realism sparks sadness
ОтветитьYeah they cheated a bit,
The reason she hated the movie cause it not of mr banks, its cause she hated the animated scene
I'm a guy. So, I like to pretend I don't cry. But after my Dad died this last December. I can't help but watch a movie scene like this and weep. "I love you Dad!" He always loved the Mr. Bank Being Discharged Scene. That was his favorite.
ОтветитьThis movie was a Jem! A diamond! I loved it. Miss you dad, always💓
ОтветитьAmazing Emma Thompson & Colin Farrell...very hard to watch for all who lost their dads !...but cinema has sometimes healing abilities

My uncle passed away from alcoholism and a heart attack in 2020. And he used to trade Disney pins, so I buy Disney pins to not cry when I think about the past. but i realize it just doesn’t magically go away, I just talk about it with my loved ones but I’m scared to let them see me cry.
ОтветитьI cried so much when I watched this in the cinema.
ОтветитьWhen I was a child, I just liked the songs. Now that I'm older, it's heartbreaking to watch until you get to the happy ending. Mr. Banks' walk to the bank, that music kills me every time.
ОтветитьWatching this movie makes me appreciate David Tomlinson’s performance as Mr. Banks even more.
ОтветитьA scene always makes me cry every time I need to cry out.
ОтветитьWhy is Disney so sad and happy now a days😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
ОтветитьThis is absolutely the best and emotional ending I ever seen. Based on the real life, making of Mary Poppins.
ОтветитьI lost my dad a year ago. I moved away to live with my husband where his family lived. I got the call while i was 2 hours in at work. My aunt [dads sister] called me and told me that he passed away. That he died alone, found in his car, somewhere in one of the dangerous parts of the island. [I was living in hawaii at the time] i wasnt able to work,i couldnt. I tried not to break apart while i was at work but i couldn't stop myself. My manager came out and asked what happened,i told her and she basically said go home, get some rest, call me when you're okay to come back. But i didnt listen,i came back after 2-3 days because i was worried about money, bills i had to pay, adult stuff. I worked but i could barely smile or talk to anyone like i did before.
ОтветитьAlright... I do have one major problem with this scene. While it is historically true Travers cried at the premiere, the reasons are not for the ones depicted in this film. The fact is Travers ultimately hated the film adaptation in almost every regard, apart from Andrews' casting as Poppins, and publicly expressed feeling "betrayed and lied to" by Disney. This film, however, depicts things as if they were ultimately cordial and he respected her reasons for being so sensitive about the book's subject. The truth is he really couldn't have cared less about her feelings, and just played her along until she signed the contract... upon which he threw out literally every single request she made for the film, and put back every single thing she objected to.
While I have my own problems with Travers (particularly her racism, as well as her abusive relationship toward her adopted son), this film's portrayal of Disney ultimately honoring Travers concern are completely and intentionally untrue, in order to frame him in a better light than the unprofessional and dishonest way he actually acted toward her in real life.
I remember watching this young in the cinema when it first come out and it was the first movie that ever touched home to my emotions. I absolutely broke down the entire time when I figured out the dynamics of the movie in the cinema the first movie I coukd relate my relationship with my father to and it broke me
ОтветитьDespite the fact she felt betrayed or not just cause there was an animated scene oh the travesty, who cares it’s cartoony, love the movie, and Walt Disney of course wasn’t a saint, he was just like one of us
ОтветитьI love Princess Cahokia Short-film❤
ОтветитьI love Kids Sing Praise: Out Of This World The Movie❤
ОтветитьThis movie harkens back to what Disney used to be. Sadly, it's far from that now. The creativity that was once Disney's hallmark has been sacrificed for profit. Very sad to ser.
ОтветитьI think the documentary film was better than the film.
ОтветитьI had an emotional reaction during the ending scene. I think it was the scene on the horse. It was like the father was trying to carry her away to a better place. A place away from the strains and struggles of the world. If not for a moment of escape. Emotional and stunning.
ОтветитьI always cry in this scene
Ответить...There are two categories of people: those who cry rivers watching this scene, and those who lie. Masterpiece.🥺🌹
ОтветитьThose who don’t have broken relationship with their fathers may not understand how painful it is to watch this and not shed tears. My father has been an alcoholic most of my life, I don’t remember the times he didn’t drink. I know he has a terrible time trying to manage his mental health but he can’t help himself. He’s mentioned how he wanted to unalive himself since I was 8 years old. I love him deeply but I chose to love him from afar because if get close he, Without being aware, hurts my feelings and I feel like I never truly had a father. He was there physically as a man but never emotionally as a father. I always want him to be there as my dad but I know he never can. He is trapped in his own cage and won’t fly away even when the door is open
ОтветитьI am the father of a little girl, my throat choked watching this movie, i can imagine the sadness the helpless father felt while fading away from his daughter.
ОтветитьI was very skeptical seeing this film at first but my mom insisted and I really love it when it came out in theaters opening day with my family and of course I cried so hard for Collin Farrell scenes especially when he promised he would never leave her 😢😢😢 truly a well done movie and the poem winds in the east is definitely a tattoo I would get ❤❤
ОтветитьI saw this movie with my mom and dad. I heard my mom cry in this scene
ОтветитьThe entire theater started sobbing when Mr banks started his walk to the bank and the music swelled… I’ll never forget the emotion in that small room
ОтветитьI think the lesson here is to accept our parents are human. When we're children we see them as heroes and we tend to ignore their flaws because for us they are perfect and they are invincible. Part of growing up is realizing that they're as imperfect and vulnerable as everybody else, and this is what P.L. Travers is experiencing right here.
ОтветитьThis movie is a lie.
ОтветитьThere’s very few experiences in this life better than being a father. You can be a flawed, even a troubled individual, but in your little girl/boy’s eyes, you’re the hero… even if it’s just for a little while. I know.
ОтветитьThis was on downstairs and was on in the TV, my parents had it on, they explained what it was about and I was like, Nah I'll pass, but was watching. I was stood in the doorway, Before I knew it I was sat down with them watching it. Such a great film. One I wouldn't have thought I'd ever be interested in.
Ответитьthe last of the Sherman bros died yesterday at the age of 95
ОтветитьWatching this movie then watching mary poppins has a whole new meaning to it
ОтветитьStill mad that Color and Emma never got at leasy Oscar nods for their work here.
ОтветитьAs moving as the scene is; I can’t help but feel that this is studio propaganda. Travers hated the movie, and Disney did not care.
ОтветитьI never knew that George Banks was based on Mrs. Travers' own father. 💙 Colin Farrell did a fantastic job. I was in tears. 😭
ОтветитьF this scene. I cry like a baby when i watch it. Im an alcoholic and so were my grandfather's. Women often take up for they're alcoholic fathers. This scene is beautiful but a little TO REAL. When she sneaks her father a pint i break down. Most of the women in my family are the offspring of alcoholic fathers. The loyalty is crazy. I get a little mad and emotional when watching this movie. It is what is is. A lot of these women become ruthless bad people. But this is the cause of despair for a lot of women.
ОтветитьThe father wound ❤🌷🕊🙏
ОтветитьWhen your father has a closer relationship with alcohol than his children, this scene just breaks you 😢
ОтветитьI always tear up at the scene preceding this one, where she walks into the theater with Mickey Mouse 😢
Ответитьunfortunately heard that my alcoholic father has just passed away, this movie was always difficult for me to watch since my fathers struggle has always been present in my life. knowing that he died alone with a bottle of vodka in his hand was hard but at last now he is at peace, no longer haunted by his past. just know that you aren’t alone <3
ОтветитьEven though it is sad PL Travers didn’t fully enjoy her work being translate onto the screen, it doesn’t change my respect for Mary Poppins as pure cinema! I’ve grown to appreciate MP now that I’m older thanks to Saving Mr Banks and Mary Poppins Returns. Maybe more than I should have as a kid as more than just a lighthearted piece of Disney magic. I find it hard to believe it’s 60 years old as of this week.
Ответить60th Anniversary of Mary Poppins '64 - '24
ОтветитьThis film killed me off
ОтветитьI absolutely adore this movie and I cry every single time I watch it❤ that being said I do feel like it downplayed the a creative agency of pl travers and the greed of a large corporation. In reality she was much more upset and offended by their changes and lack of control over her beloved characters. It was a movie made by disney about disney and therefore feels kinda like propaganda but it definitely tugs on your heart strings
