John did start this so i do understand to some extent why Thomas went on the offensive. The chengrettas would not have let go of what john did to chengrettas son. So to back of then wouldve put Thomas at a disadvantage. He did not think this through properly even if John forced him into Said position. He shouldve not only gone after the pub but after chengretta & his family to. Not to kill them but to capture & use as leverage against the american branch of their organization. Strike a deal with them & force them to give up their turf in the uk in exchange for their safe return. After that any retaliation or attempt to go after Tommy & his organization in the uk with no foothold at all with a ocean between em wouldve been incredably diffcult for the chengrettas Which wouldve most likely ended the war in Thomas favour before it begun. I know it was for plot reasons but for a man as smart as Thomas rushing in like he did without thinking ahead seemed very foolish. He is more calculating & strategic then that
