We ARE built to live in community... but also go out into the missionary field. The community is home base to recharge and refuel and form ourselves, absolutely. I see some signs of Catholics forgetting the community life is not the end all, but the means to help us keep going back out into the world and witness.

I want to know more about the Catholic faith but my church is so uninspired. I don’t even go to church anymore. But I read the bible and would love more community.

Don't shelter your kids forever. Expose and deflate the lies of the world on your terms.

Thank you Mr Spann! My wife and I were having this talk the other night, albeit our children are 3 years old and a 4 month old so we have some time to go but this advice is exactly what we were trying to formulate and couldn't quite nail it.

God bless you brother and of course you too Fraddy...

I'm against the idea of "just move to a Catholic community" as the right solution for the vast majority of people.

The common denominator I've noticed, in grown adults who have kept their Catholic faith from childhood besides a Catholic education, is daily family prayer. Invariably many I've noticed who fit this bill have formally prayed with their family growing up on a daily basis. Usually it was the rosary that kept them in the faith and united together. Occasionally, it was reading scripture aloud after dinner. It was a way of life, established from birth that centered the children on why they were there and where they were headed in life. It gave them purpose. It gave them hope in an afterlife.

Keep them out of Catholic school and instruct them at home
