Grok Summary :)

Summary of Marius's Trading Meeting:

Background and Journey:
Marius started trading after being influenced by a family environment of discussing stocks during a bull market in Greece before the 2008 financial crisis. He revisited trading after university through online searches for making money, which led him into trading.
Initial Challenges:
He experienced significant losses early on, blowing up his first account within three days due to a lack of knowledge about risk management and trading strategies. This led to a period of self-learning and research.
Trading Evolution:
Initially a day trader, Marius switched to swing trading after feeling burnt out and recognizing the limitations and stresses of day trading. His approach became more focused on swing setups, combining fundamental analysis with price action.
Key Trading Strategies:
Breakouts: Marius looks for stocks showing momentum and accumulation, focusing on tight chart patterns before a breakout.
Episodic Pivots/Catalyst Gappers: He trades stocks gapping up due to significant news or earnings, often looking for continuation on the second day for biotech stocks.
Parabolic Shorts: He identifies stocks that have had a parabolic move and looks to short at signs of exhaustion.
Process:
Daily Routine:
Marius scans for stocks with high relative strength, momentum leaders, and recent catalysts. He uses tools like dense volume scans to identify potential setups.
He manages risk by using small position sizes with tight stops, typically risking 0.25% to 0.4% of his account per trade.
Weekly Routine:
Involves reviewing past trades, refining his watch list, and studying new stocks or themes. This helps him stay in sync with market movements and refine his strategy.
Philosophy and Tools:
He emphasizes studying historical trades of successful traders to reverse engineer strategies. Marius uses tools like moving averages, volume analysis, and ATR for entry and exit points.
His trading is not driven by opinions but by price action and market clues.
Performance and Mindset:
Marius achieved a 290% return in 2023, despite numerous mistakes and missed opportunities. He stresses on asymmetric returns, low risk per trade, and not getting overly attached to market opinions or short-term goals.
Advice for New Traders:
Learn from successful traders, maintain a positive circle, don't rush to achieve mastery, and preserve both mental and financial capital. He also advises against being swayed by others' high returns and to focus on consistent improvement.
Recent Trades:
Discussed his approach to trading NVIDIA and SMCI in 2024, emphasizing adapting to market conditions over personal opinions.

Marius's approach is a blend of disciplined study, strategic trading based on clear setups, and a philosophy of learning from both the market and other traders' experiences. His strategy focuses on leveraging market trends while managing risk meticulously.

Elaborated Summary of Marius's Trading Process:

Background and Trading Beginnings:
Influence and Initial Exposure: Marius's interest in trading was sparked in his childhood when stock market discussions were prevalent in his family before the 2008 financial crisis in Greece. This early exposure, although not initially pursued, laid the groundwork for his later interest.
Journey into Trading: After realizing his university studies weren't his long-term path, Marius looked into online income sources, leading him to trading. His early experiences were marked by significant setbacks, particularly with his first leveraged account, which he lost quickly due to a lack of trading knowledge.

Trading Evolution:
From Day to Swing Trading:
Day Trading Experience: Marius initially engaged in day trading but found the lifestyle unsustainable. It involved waking up, trading, studying, and sleeping, leading to burnout and a desire for a less stressful approach.
Shift to Swing Trading: This shift was prompted by a need for a better work-life balance and a realization that swing trading could offer more rewarding, less frequent trades with potentially larger gains.

Key Trading Strategies:
Breakouts:
Selection: Marius focuses on stocks with demonstrated momentum, looking for setups where stocks have shown a leg up followed by consolidation. He uses tools like volume analysis to ensure the stock has the necessary fuel for a move.
Execution: He enters when the stock breaks out of its range, often using alerts set on trend lines that represent the core of the move.
Episodic Pivots/Catalyst Gappers:
Strategy: Here, he capitalizes on stocks gapping up due to news, earnings, or other catalysts. For biotech stocks, he often waits for the second trading day after the initial gap up for a more reliable move.
Management: Partial profits are taken based on multiples of the Average Daily Range (ADR), with stops adjusted to manage risk.
Parabolic Shorts:
Criteria: He looks for stocks in an IPO phase or those that have had rapid, unsustainable rises. Key indicators include volume changes and the stock's performance relative to past movements.
Execution: He shorts when he believes the stock has reached an exhaustion point, often expecting a significant drop within one to two days.

Detailed Trading Process:
Daily Routine:
Morning Preparation: Checks pre-market activity, news, and any significant movements in his current positions.
Scanning: Uses custom scans to identify stocks with specific characteristics like high volume, breakouts, or momentum continuation. He compiles these into a watch list for the day.
Trading: Executes trades based on his setups, using intraday charts for precision in entry points, especially for breakouts and gap plays.
Weekly Routine:
Review: Analyzes the past week's trades, updates his watch list, and removes stocks that no longer fit his criteria or have broken down.
Study: Deep dives into potential stocks, themes, or revisits past setups to learn or refine his trading strategy.

Philosophical and Methodological Insights:
Learning Through Study: Marius places a high value on studying past trades, both his own and those of others, to understand what leads to success in trading. He believes in creating personal trading "books" or notes from these studies.
Risk Management: He maintains very small risk per trade, which allows for multiple attempts at entries without significant capital loss, emphasizing resilience over singular success.
Adaptation and Flexibility: While having core strategies, Marius remains flexible, adapting to market conditions, like his decision to trade major stocks like NVIDIA when the market conditions were right.
Emotional Discipline: He discusses the importance of not letting short-term goals or emotional responses dictate trading decisions, advocating for a long-term, process-driven approach.

Advice for Aspiring Traders:
Mentorship and Learning: Find and study traders with proven track records, not just those who are popular online.
Positive Environment: Surround yourself with positivity and knowledge; avoid negativity which can cloud judgment.
Patience and Persistence: Mastery takes time; do not rush into high-risk strategies until you've built a solid foundation of knowledge and experience.
Life Balance: Remember to live life outside of trading; success in trading should enable a better quality of life, not detract from it.

Marius's trading philosophy combines rigorous study, disciplined risk management, and a pragmatic approach to market movements, all while maintaining a balance with personal life. His success underscores the importance of patience, learning from mistakes, and adapting one's strategy over time.

I don’t get it when Marios says his edge daytrading was on the win rate, but then he also says he didn’t want to wait for a few weeks to make 2 or 3 or 4 R, when he could do that in 30min when daytrading.

Now you go see Carvana and is at almost $200. Honestly this is one of the best interviews I have seen on your channel. This really makes me feel better because I follow the same strategy and so far I am breaking even for the last 3 months since I started to trade this strategy as I used sell naked options and the risk and the anxiety it was too much.

Great interview. I took many notes. After listening to the entire interview I do have some questions.
1) He mentioned that he's risking only .0025 - .0040 of his account size. Is that a percentage of each trade he placed? And not his entire account. Is that the stop loss positioning?
Because he mentioned having up to 60% or more of his account being traded on one trade later in the interview. Bit confusing there. Also he talked about 4% or more draw downs on a trade too so the numbers don't jive to me.

2) He also mentioned that he didn't hold a trade overnight... but, he also said that he entered "here" on the daily chart and exited several days later on a different day. Apparently I didn't catch what he only hold for 1 day. Could use some clarification here.

Thanks for any help on this.

When I set the 21EMA on my 15 minute charts in extended version , the touching areas of price to that moving average line does change and the chart looks little bit different. So in the extended version, the premarket and post market candles are also included and some of those candles are dots. What to do to get exactly your same 21 EMA on 15 minute chart? Should I turn off the extended tab?

I keep coming back to this video when I need a re focus. This guy has it all down. It was all on him. He studied for years, came up with his own convictions, trades with what he can mentally handle pain wise, trades almost exactly like Qullamaggie does. 3 setups wise. It’s so cool seeing the same things repeated by highly profitable traders. Gives me the focus I need to keep going.

I wish he said what broker he uses, because trading US stocks from Europe usually have high commissions and currency conversion costs. 500 trades in a year for me would be over $10000 just to my broker. On the other hand maybe it helps because it prevents me over-trading.
