Okay, wtf is with German audiences and no standing ovations? They know full well what standing ovations are, but they won't get off their butts. Even for this performance. So stupid.

There can be no greater piece. This is the shining pinnacle, as are so many of the world's masterpieces from the great composers.

The fourth movement of this piece was my introduction to Dvorak when I played it in a summer orchestra camp right after 8th grade and I fell in love. Dvorak has been my favorite composer ever since, and I absolutely love this piece. This performance is incredible, and it brought back memories, thank you.

I very much like Dvorak, but for me there's something about his 8th that goes beyond, it is simply superb.

Je ne sais pourquoi mais le célébrissime troisième mouvement allegretto grazioso m'a toujours semblé être l'ode prémonitoire d'un temps révolu, le plaisir de vivre dans l'insouciante douceur d'une Europe centrale,

avant la Grande catastrophe de 1914-1918 !

Je trouve cette partie de l'œuvre courte et dansante, notamment à son attaque reprise à la coda, très brahmsienne avec la nostalgie douce amère d'une ère qui n'est plus.
