From invention to innovation: SFU supports cleantech breakthrough

How did a Simon Fraser University scientist turn a once-in-a-lifetime discovery into a breakthrough clean energy innovation? And into a globally leading Canadian clean tech company?

Thanks to support from SFU’s innovation ecosystem, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, the Canada Foundation for Innovation, Innovate BC, and others, SFU chemist Steven Holdcroft and alumnus Ben Britton successfully founded Ionomr Innovations.

Ionomr is now developing more cost effective and durable polymer membranes for use in fuel cells, hydrogen production and other clean energy applications.
