Is there an option, way, etc to create a FreeNAS server as a VPN Server too? I want to be able to access it from anywhere. Is it possible? Or should I just install some *nix on my spare box and run it as a vpn server?

I have puppy linux running on a 4GB usb stick and 128MB RAM. How did you setup the samba server. I'm running 4.3.1 which is the only one that is stable for my old legacy pc. I have it setup as basic, but have HDD's that I would like to setup such. Nice Video as well.

cool, but does it support sata controllers? as i could install this on my old pc, but i would want a big and newer drive to work with it :) and also, when its humming away somwhere in your house, how do you safely turn on and off the pc without a keyboard and screen?

Help. When I reach the stage to format the disk, it tells me it cannot format the same drive as the OS. But I thought I had partitioned it. Thus, when I try to see if i can access the drive via windows 7, it reads the network \\freenas but shows nothing in it at all.

if i bought a network attached storage to plug in to my wifis routers lanport,,, how would i access it ? would i make a addres like 186.496.34.1.1,,, so if i were anywhere in the world i could type in 186.496.34.1.1 and it would ask 4 a password and user name ,,,?
