The tribal people of the Amazon Basin have been exploited by the majority population for hundreds of years. Now the survival of these tribal people is in question. Forty-five of the region’s four hundred tribes live in Peru — and as many as fifteen have never had any contact with the outside world.

Mision Integral Nativa del Peru (MINAP), translated as The Holistic Tribal Mission of Peru, is the country’s first missionary-sending agency led by Amazon Indians. They serve the needs of the most remote tribal people hidden in the Amazon jungles.

Commissioned by local churches, they have already set goals to reach every one of these tribes with the gospel. Their task is urgent as the government plans to bar access to both outsiders and Peruvians and is actively encouraging tribes to return to their harmful traditional practices.
