the roman catholic church only partially relies on scripture. it is a complete lie that it claims that church tradition is a partial means of salvation. the roman catholic church's tradition is NOT the same as 1st century church tradition. the magisterium is NOT established in the bible. the trinity is clearly expressed in the bible. works, such as the wicked mass/eucharist (a rejection that Christ's death on the cross was not sufficient for salvation, the roman catholic church is necessary for partial faith and salvation). This is stupid..., God could not understand what was going to be asked by people??? do you really believe that? Jesus said Himself that He is the Word. This establishes sola scriptura. you are a weak roman catholic priest. you are supporting a false church/cult.

Why I believe that God does still speak to us as Peter tells us through visions and dreams. We only have one official written word. Otherwise why don't you accept the writings of Mohammed or the Mormon books because they're not inspired. We non-Catholics challenge you Catholics because you teach things that are not found in the Bible. The only person where to pray to that's in heaven is Jesus. The only person who's making intercession for us in heaven is Jesus. There's only one mediator between God and man and that's Jesus. How can we as laymen know that Paul was referring to the old testament? Can we say that the new testament was not available yet.

I would submit that the "Holy Catholic Church", and the "Church of Rome" are not the same thing.

Since God created the earth, Adam, Eve, and all creatures in 7 days, were there other Gods that created the Chinese, American Indians, Australian Aborigine's, Eskimos, Galls, Japanese, and African Blacks? If our God created all the other people on earth, and the Bible tells of 60 wars and battles, and genocides where God utterly destroys all the Gentiles (non Jewish people), then I assume other Gods created the other people? The oral and written traditions at the time before the canon was closed, only applied to the Jewish people, not the church as a whole. God entrusted His oracles with the Jews (Romans 3:1-2). When the canon closed, so did these 2 traditions closed along with it. The “tradition” of the Catholic Church, is a tradition outside of scripture and is self proclaimed.

Converted as a 57 year old OUT OF Protestantism INTO Catholicism for this very reason... Tired of all the banter and contradictory, ever changing belief sets in the mass chaos of Christianity today.

I am Protestant, but this is very convincing, but the still have objections to Catholicism because of Prayers to Saint and Mary, making carved images, the immaculate conception, calling Mary mother of God and belief in purgatory.

Tradition is used by the Catholic Church to exert control of the laity Catholics.

God speaks to you through His Word. The catholic church teaches their traditions and own doctrines. They are not The Word of God.

You dont find the concept of purgatory in the bible. The concept of the trinity is in the bible.

When I was 25, I was baptized Catholic together with my 2 oldest children. I married my 2nd husband in church, but unfortunately,..Because I was not allowed to get a divorce in church, I had myself deregistered. In 2018, now 58 years old, I decided to take God and the Bible seriously after all. With anger still inside me towards the Catholic Church, my search for the “truth” began with Jehovah’s Witnesses. Then followed Evangelical churches, I was even a member of the Protestant church for a while. Until I realized that everyone makes the same “Christian” excuses when something goes wrong, “we are only human too” 🤔 That's right, definitely. But why do you think you are better than other churches? Or worse, Why do you think you can do better than Jesus himself!! Matthew 16:18-19 is Jesus telling how and where He will take His church!
Now I am almost 64 and have met fantastic people and experienced beautiful things (and less beautiful things) and I have definitely come to 1 conclusion, The Catholic Church is Jesus' Church. 
I am so grateful to be back where I started. I thank our Heavenly Father that I have been able to learn so much in a very short time. And I still call myself a beginner, I still have a lot to learn. Father Mike, thank you so much for all the wise lessons and insights. God Bless you 👍🙏🙏🙏

Did the Protestant reformation remove these seven books in the 1500’s or did the Catholic Church add these 7 books in the 1500’s because of the Protestant reformation?

The problem with mixing tradition with scripture is that, without the Spirit of God, scripture becomes nothing more than, "Word salad!" Only thing other than that, is, scripture out of context? Typical catholic religious mirage..

The problem isn't that the Roman church has traditions. My church also has traditions. The problem is when they place traditions on the same level of authority with the bible. Here is where we part ways. Our traditions are subject to the canon scripture, not on the same level of authority with canon scripture. If the Roman church wants to put traditions on the same level as the bible, let them canonize their traditions. At least it's intellectually consistent.

Does the Church provide a series of volumes that contains all of Sacred Tradition or an index so that when I read St. Augustine’s writings I know if what I’m reading is in or out of the deposit of Sacred Tradition?

I’m not totally sold on sola scriptura, but this is very silly. Knocks down a strawman of ‘sola scriptura’. Conflates the undivided Church with the Papal office. Acts like the Roman Magisterium determined the contents of the Bible. Just embarrassing. Go watch Gavin Ortlund or Jordan Cooper easily demolish these kind of objections.

The Gospel was delivered once and for all to the saints. Deuteronomy and Revelations say NOT to add to or take away from the Bible. In one of Paul's sermons, in tears, he said "even among you there will be those which will draw followers after themselves. Who does that sound like? Instead of Jesus they inserted themselves to make salvation possible also including Mary as a co-redeemer, saying she has influence with Jesus, as though he isn't sufficient for our salvation. Ask yourself why Jesus would die for us and have his bride, the church, put in the hands of fallible sinful men. Jude 1-3 says the gospel was delivered Once and for all delivered to the saints. Woe to you who pervert the Gospel of Jesus our savior.

Important to note that John 21:25 says not everything is in the Bible Hence, the sacred tradition and the magesterium are pillars,too for the Christian faith 🙏

Paul was writing to Timothy about the Gospel teachings. Timothy believed in scripture and had faith.

martin luther rejected the 7 works because there were not authored by prophets, as old testament works were. the magisterium has no authority to establish scripture. where is sola scriptura, mike? read john 1:1.

Is it not true that Scripture should inform our tradition and our teachers? What happens when tradition and teachers contradict scripture? What happens when teachers and tradition disagree?

Protestants have Scripture as their highest authority over teachers and traditions as Jesus taught. I’ve met many Catholics who will ignore scripture for their tradition. Also bringing up canonization, to say Martin Luther just threw out several books seems disingenuous considering the apocrypha was in question for centuries prior to Luther by people including Jerome. And those books were still in question up to Luther and not fully canonized until the council of Trent. And several Catholic priest believed it shouldn’t have been canonized in agreement with Luther.
