It's always been pretty obvious that the powers of the Fantastic Four were based upon what some ancients referred to as the 4 Elements.

I feel like the Power Pack are contenders for the weirdest marvel origins or even the weirdest origins in general. Their dad built a portal to space and while messing with it they met an alien unicorn who gave them powers so they can fight against an army of lizard people
