Hello, Some things to think about. Scorch the wood lightly and sand it lightly. Then stain all of the wood before putting it together. Alos I noticed you did have flowers planted. I think it was lavender . That is one that helps keep the skeeters and critters away. Also you are getting sap to make things. Why not have honey bees? Good for your plants and honey is very good to eat. A lot better then sugar. I am surprised you and your father dont have any, or do you?

This is the second time I've paused the video during the drone shot of the garden, it's just so beautiful, so well laid out and organized, it really soothes my OCD brain to just look at it. Really makes me wish I had a chunk of land to garden on, as much as I love my apartment and teensy little balcony garden of flowering annuals. I'm really curious, tho what grain you planted?

What a beautiful garden complete with furniture! And indeed, the color of the wood you did looks great! I’m always amazed at the end of a garden season how quickly it finishes and the abundance one can produce on a small piece of ground. You develop a relationship with each plant a feel the different personalities. Thank You Emily! Happy Harvest! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania

Do not use raised beds.
Have u ever used an infrared camera??

3months 100° heat wave Wister& almost zero rain.

Can't persist FOUR months.. Can it? Let's see:

      Ave. temps 4cast next 25 days F. Smith = 101.43°

103.43° Wister bcuz Wister = ave. temps 2° hotter then F. Smith.

          (105° on my south slope.)

    Rain??

    ...0.02" rain 4cast4 next 25 days.

Remember: THIS heat wave began mid April when ave. temp Wister was 60° (daily high average of 75° daily low average of  FOURTY SIX°.)

Instead, we suddenly got 100° days with 70-75° nights.

So even thnights were already2hot4cold weather crops that prefer ave. temps of 68°.

I grew beans &cucumber profusely here when ave. Temps were 85° but thats cuz I mulch on thflat.

It improve soil &hydrates on cellular level so plant stress tolerance skyrockets dramatically.

You can grow/water vegetables&fruit trees in this years inferno all u want. Youwont hardly get any vegetables or fruit. My ultra durable elderberries? ANNIHILATED in 130° - 140° sunshine.

Dont even think about cool weather crops here.

Remember that stone fruits just dont fruit beneath Missouri in any practical sense&never have. I grew them Los Angeles profusely bcuz we had supercooled ocean temps. However they wont taste good below Missouri no matter what u do thstone &apple fruits in California wr bettr then nothing, but very VERY bland.

Raised beds: Raised bed soil temps will reigister 7° hotter @ freezing.

    Expect 20° warmer soil summer.

Water pipe codes require bury pipe beneath frost line. Imagine how fast pipe freeze 2 ft. above soil. In summer water gonna be hot& nauseating.

My well water meanwhile, always COLD.

Vegetables need cool. Ground temps are stable = cool summer, warm winter. Take advantage. Mulch soil on thflat. Not raiesed beds. People building raised beds in thnorth trying beat frost? Good luck with yr plant suffering frost kill on chilly nights or up there on stilts in cool &or super hot summer winds.

Denise u always miss thpoint infrared cameras are simple common sense. All they do is register temps as colors. Get it?

But common sense, well that just isnt on thradar 4all of us. Showing an imbecile an infrared camera would be of no use in their intelligence database.

I have th highest IQ in the history of mankind so, I engineered worlds most advanced indoor hot AND cold wether climate control system thanks 2infrared. &It wrks.

Infrared cameras, &after that simple common sense taught me 2build worlds most advanced climate control system in my cabin& look all i am doing is opening windows summer nights, closing them winter. Just as every1 else worldwide does. But my 2ton wood radiator shelves memorize temps just like falt ground does vs raised beds its a stablizer. I have commercial windows i just run a MUCH tighter ship while exerting same EXACT effrt.

Infrared cameras also clearly drove 2me home why never 2build a raised bed.

No other gardners in the history of mankind have managed 2figure this1 out.

When u are worlds best anything, u know with surgical precision who is 2nd. That's PAUL GAUTSCHI.  Does Paul recommend raised beds? Absolutely never.

But Paul took a lifetime 2figure that out AND he gardened since he was a toddler. I nailed it all top 2bottom my very 1st garden 1987.

Raised bed exaggerate temps while they increase dehydration thru influence of airflo &gravity.  Ambient temps have huge influence on drying. Thats why driers are hot.  Dehydration = #1 enemy plants& raised beds heat soil days.

Basically all infrared cameras do is register temps in colors. Specifically warm becomes red. Freezing becomes blue.  Below freezing then purple. Like this: See photo.

I am thbest gardener in thworld &built worlds most advanced climate control. I had huge you tube channel &yes even famous musicians subbed me when i cover they songs. But they missed thpoint. Not even 1person built my climate control in they home. I dont want an army of purple clown flower idiots.

I live on among thvery most brutal soil &climate but I garden succesfully.

Gardening is out of context with our present reality.

Gardening: In context up untill Satan enforces his mark it saves u money, keeps u healthy. Then, gardening becomes nex2 impossible. That is why Yahweh said FLEE 2 TH MOUNTAINS.

    Why?

Bcuz u have 2HIDE when Satan enforce mark.

Yahweh told me buy a Mt. So i I put money down on 5 Mt. Properties. Satan wouldnt sell them 2me. So I bought this. It isnt do able 4premium gardening but I have pure water &endless meat when Satan enforce chip &I have 2hide. You CANT stay at an address during chip enforce.

This is why I told local people 2study WILD FOODS.

I built this food forest with mostly WILD trees &plants so if some1 buy it &can afford water it &mulch it they set. It has huge advantage in that it now produces greens &food all winter even if abandoned in Satans chip enforce.

Yahweh told us WATER, will become their most precious commodoty.  Only mt. Tops have clean water.

Water in valleys is putred with dead or crowded animals in summer.

Satan built all thwater filters 2fail. Mostly he made it so if they freeze thfilters inside cmpletely fail.

Hello Emily, Here"s another tip. To stop tarps and other woven plastics like weed barriers from fraying when cutting, use a soldering iron to melt your cut line instead of scissors. They never fray that way. :-)

For young people watching this, thinking it is impossible to do because of the lack of money first and foremost: have you tried organising into groups to buy and collectively run a farm?
If anything, it will teach you the pitfalls of group dynamics, on the other hand it might just offer a way out of city living induced hopelessness. You need to work your ass off to buy food but even two jobs can't give you enough money to rent? A farm is a home, it brings food on the table, doing it together means meaningful social interaction, it is healthy.
Not sure if this is useless advice, but I really hope it will get a few of you dreaming.
