This brief video message is an extract from a later to be released conversation of Henriette Heise with Eva Mattes and Geza Schön on Smeller and Osmodrama, which has been experienced by both in its first public testing phase.
Eva Mattes is one of Germanys most famous actresses who worked with some of the best directors in cinema and theatre. She is fostering the idea of theatre and readings in conjunction with Osmodrama.
Geza Schön is one of the grand masters in contemporary perfumery, creator of the Escentric and the Molecule series (Escentric Molecules). He will reappear with more here in future updates. Geza Schön creates scents for Smeller.
Eva: The thing that baffled me most was that one scent: the smell of the virgin forest, of the jungle. I once was in the jungle. Many years ago I spent time at the Peruvian Amazon. Afterwards, I put the shoes that I had been wearing on the trip into a plastic bag. For sentimental reasons I occasionally went to sniff on the bag. I kept retrieving the smell of the jungle and with it the memories. That was in Hamburg; then I moved to Berlin and made my farewells to the bag and the sentimentality connected to it, also to the memories. I said goodbye. But the smell remained vivid. I know exactly what the jungle smells like. And because I knew that he’d include this scent in his compositions, I was especially curious about that; and I thought: he won’t pull that one off.
Geza: And was it good?
Eva: It was identical. It was my bag.
Geza: That’s funny.
Eva: It was my jungle and my bag and that was what really won me over.
