NOTIFICATION SQUAD: A step too far or a necessary move? Honestly, it's probably for the best, but let's hope this doesn't lead to a crackdown nationwide in the long run.

ОтветитьJapanese are absolutely getting tired of all the foreigners, foreign tourists; the terrible economy relying on the dying side of the equation, the U.S., NATO is unfortunate
Ответить5 Year olds today dont get taught common decency because mommy and daddy either where spoiled growing up or they where just lazy because the father wasnt around to enforce responsibility because mommy didn't dare want to hurt her childs feelings.
When you let one child go wild, you let generations of your grandkids do the same.
I was in Japan two times and EVERY time a tourist misbehaved it was a USAnian. As a German you're welcomed and greated with respect, but when they realise you're a USAnian, their attitude turns completely around. Ask the locals why ...
ОтветитьI'm Japanese, but to be honest, we don't need tourists lol. The tourism industry seems to be making a lot of money, but it doesn't benefit us ordinary citizens at all.
The Japanese government should give back the money it makes to the Japanese people.
Whenever I do get up the money to be able to travel to Japan to be able to experience all of the culture I don't see how you can come to a country that you've never been to and mess with things that have been there for a very very long time.
If any foreigners would come to America which I know that they do a lot and if they wanted to come to my neck of the woods I'm not going to berate them because they can't really speak English that well I would try to understand them and help them.
Listen, i know i am in no way a perfect person. I like a drink and being a bit of a rocket, but even i think i can manage a base level of respect of NOT pulling hair of geisha, NOT carving my shit into centuries old wood and just coming to appreciate and share in a wonderful and interesting culture.
ОтветитьI'm obviously not defending this kind of behavior, but people have been either carving their name or leaving a personal mark like a handprint in meaningful places for at least 40 thousand years. So it seems like there is some universal drive to do that. But of course, there is a time and place. What I would suggest is for authorities to create a specific place for it in a public but unobtrusive area near famous monuments.
ОтветитьLooks like I won’t ever go to Japan because of idiots messing things up but then again all I have is just dumpster fire America now
ОтветитьWell no wonder why people hate foreigner tourist so much, even in some place in italy (maybe) they graffiti a medsage for tourist to f*ck off and even want 'em dead. Even in my country, in the bali island especially, they've been causing a huge shit tons of problems and most of them are westerner tourist and russian. They so fucking obnoxious
ОтветитьThis isn’t new I was in Valley of the kings in 1995 and in one of the sarcophagi we peered into the inside to see an empty coke bottle…we know Napoleon’s idiots shot the Sphinx, some people don’t have any respect sadly…I don’t blame the authorities it’s extreme but what can they do apart from police it?
ОтветитьThere is no reason to believe that tourists visiting Japan are any worse behaved than tourist visiting Rome, where I once lived. As something of an artist, I spend considerable time around temples and shrines. I get reprimanded for the silliest things. Like simply talking in what they think is a loud voice. Or placing my camera bag on the grass just off of the sidewalk, where it won't get in anybody's way. It does not surprise me that foreigners are getting banned. Anti-globalization is trending worldwide.
ОтветитьThe song/music at the start is 'Merchant Traveller by Shin Suzuma'. Decided to comment in case this saves anyone else having to go down the same rabbit hole as me. Unfortunately looks like it is not currently on Spotify from what I can tell.
ОтветитьWhen I was a child, most of the tourists in Kyoto were Japanese, and foreigners made up about 10 to 20% of the total.
Geishas and maikos walked slowly with bright expressions on their faces. These were very elegant sights.
I was still a child at the time and I said out loud, "Oh, there's a maiko! How beautiful she is!", and the maiko looked at me, smiled, and bowed slightly.
That was one of my best memories of that trip.
However, now they walk quickly with stern expressions on their faces. The sights make me sad.
The elegant Kyoto that was once there is no longer there.
Thanks for your videos mate.
I will travel to Japan next February and they will be useful.
Simply because I don't need to worry. When I start planning the trip I was worry that would be a lot of excessive eitquette in behaviour.
Turns out, the only thing foreign tourists need not to be, is complete animals. It's easily achievable for me.
As a Japanese person, remember Japanese folks are calm and quiet until you take it too far. When we had enough, we take things to the extreme. If you honestly think we care if our birth rate is going down and we need foreigners ,you’re wrong. We rather die out than let idiots ruin Japan.
ОтветитьIt shocks me to see tourists acting without modesty. You're going to visit a country so you have to adopt their way of life. Before leaving, the least you can do is take a sociology course on the country in question. Especially in Japan, the Japanese are a people known for their politeness and their introverted personality. It only takes a handful of idiots for all tourists to be blocked from certain places of worship. Look your best and be kind when visiting other countries, model good behavior.
ОтветитьI think the want to carve your name into somewhere is a human want, think about how they have found things carved around roman cities from thousands of years ago
ОтветитьTop 3 Worst Tourists:
1. Chinese
2. Americans
3. Koreans
I have a trip planned this November I'm scared I don't want to be a nuisance
”Please don`t be Johnny Som-Aliens.”
I just experienced the greatest honesty and hospitality in Japan. It is the safest and cleanest country in this day of age. As a USA citizen, when I see signs in Japan that says “Japanese only, no foreigners allowed” I understand and accept, if anything, I approve! We need to keep that country pure! I don’t want our bad influence to rub off of them! I look at the sign and say to myself “they need the time and space to decompress, I’m not offended by it at all”
ОтветитьI feel the banning of tourists is definitely warranted. However, I also believe that genuinely good tourists should be allowed in the exclusion zones as long as they have minders, or tour guides.
ОтветитьI'm lucky to have been able to travel widely and I am frequently ashamed to be English due to the behaviour of a small minority of idiots which leaves a lot to be desired and I am horrified that some would have the temerity to desecrate a historic religious site. I think that Kyoto have made the correct decision to protect their city and populous even though it means i will no longer be able to visit this neighbourhood.
ОтветитьI visited Japan three times.
Only the first time was fun, because I know better now.
Japan hates foreigners. They really do no matter what they say.
I know that there are some very kind foreigners, but even more so, there are other foreigners who ravage Japan, destroy Japanese culture, and embarrass and anger the Japanese people.
Maiko are also people and have privacy.
In addition, they are working while wearing kimono.
I once came across a maiko paparazzi on my way to work, so I stopped them, but the foreigners just got angry and didn't admit their fault.
There are many other issues as well.
Most Japanese people do not believe in Jesus Christ or Muhammad, but they do believe in the gods of yaoyorozu.
I don't know if you don't understand polytheism, but when Japan was hit by a disaster, you were thrown out because you didn't believe in Muhammad or Christ.
Scattered garbage and problematic behavior not only at shrines and temples but also at public institutions.
Sexual assault also occurs frequently.
Furthermore, there are many cases in which charges are not filed even though the defendants are mentally and physically injured.
The Japanese government is so corrupt that it is a vicious cycle in which the people are only suffering as they do nothing but show respect to other countries.
If you like Japan, please come after deepening your understanding of manners, culture, and ideology...
Most Japanese people do not force their beliefs or inner feelings, so please stop your destructive behavior.
Any more than this and we too will be destroyed...
oh god damnit i would have killed to see an actual geisha
ОтветитьThese asshats know they did wrong, they do it for views and likes. Blame this whole I want to be famous culture we have developed.
Ответитьmy wife and i have been planning a trip to Japan for a couploe years now, saving and getting ready to be able to behave and enjoy our dream for a month at least. Knowing there are places where we cant go...that people my be watching us because of this...just.... destroys me
ОтветитьSo wait now hold on your going that fast your not really thinking about what your saying. Now your moaning that people are taking pictures of other people yet the people that are getting their picture taken are dresses for that reason or you could say their dressed that way to entertain men like you. And yet that the people moaning about it properly aren't them women as their used to just standing their taking things they don't want. No the very people moaning are the same people that go around thinking them women are there's and take pictures of random objects and people and never as permission. I mean you tell me when your taking random pictures of people do you ask permission?
ОтветитьI don't agree with the "few bad apples" view. I have been in Japan for two weeks after not visiting the country again in 22 years and now I am staying in Kyoto. There are crowds and hords of tourists everywhere in Japan right now but in my humble opinion the problem is not quantity but quality. Many foreign tourists in Japan nowadays are uneducated and cheap, I don't believe that they are going to make Japan a better or a richer country. The Japanese government will need to make some decisions before it is too late.
Ответитьyes british people would never damage scared artifect they would just steal and put it in the british mesuem.
ОтветитьThey don't like foreigners in there, don't go, no matter if it is developed.
ОтветитьI was in Japan 6 weeks ago, I didn’t find any tourists restrictions in Kyoto, granted I didn’t act like a hooligan. After asking for permission, I got a lovely photo of 3 generations within the same family dressed as geishas.
ОтветитьI’m visiting Japan now and the disrespect I have seen from Chinese tourists is out of control. However, the disrespect I have seen from Chinese tourist in America is crazy too
ОтветитьIm really hoping my bf and i can visit Japan before more places ban tourists. We are trying really hard to learn important key phrasrs in Japanese, the social customs in Japan, and I really want to become a member of the Shinto Faith. Your videos were really helpful with learning a lot of these tips and now I'm scared I'll never get to practice them.
ОтветитьHow to live or visit japan without being an asshole
1. Understand and have knowledge about their culture and language to avoid misunderstanding
2. Follow their rules you're a foreigner not a citizen
3. Dont be a dick
4. Respect the people and they can respect you
5. Enjoy
Do you remember the time that one Beatles "fan" felt that they were entitled to clip a lock of Ringo's hair at a news conference? (Class act! 😞 )
ОтветитьUnfortunately, it's shitty people who do disgusting things like that that NOT ONLY degrades cultures and monuments, but the human race as a whole.
There is a saying for this kind of thing - "ruin it for the rest of us". 99% of every person on earth is a GOOD PERSON. But the 1% ruin it for the rest of us.
One trip to Japan is enough to realize that western society has no disciplin or class. Read and study about Japanese culture before you go there, respect their way of living.
ОтветитьThere's no shortage of idiots in this world.
ОтветитьThey should return to .01% foreign pop.
ОтветитьBan tourism. Make your home countries better places to spend time in!
Ответитьthe japanese government and local government are desperate for income, so there's currently no limit on tourist, no visa required, etc. Unfortunately the local people have to take the brunt of it, and tourists gets the blame for it, whilst Japan rakes in billions from tourists every month.
Imo the government allowing unlimited visits from foreigners leading to over-tourism, is actually ruffling alot japanese closet xenophobes the wrong way and it is starting to show.
The same thing is happening in Europe when they allow immigrants in without any limit, now white supremacy is on the rise.
I want to go back and tourists keep ruining it
