Thank you very much, you are an amazing teacher!!! Glad I clicked on your video, turns out there's a heck of a lot more to know about soLdering than originally thought. Thanks again! Subscribed for life!!!
ОтветитьHe is one of the best in the RC world :-)
ОтветитьWhat should be a good temperature for building drones? Thanks
Ответитьthanks Bruce for putting in the time and enegy to do this video.
ОтветитьI like your explanation of heat vs temp. So many people don't understand the difference.
I think of it like this : temp is HOW much it will burn your finger tip. Heat is the amount of fingers you could burn in the same time (measured from 1 to a million). :-)
A million fingers would cool a soldering tip instead of getting burned.
Why is that different to any other kind of soldering?
ОтветитьExcellent ... thanks Bruce ... on a wave length, just starting to learn about technique for quality, strong fastening... keep it flowing.
ОтветитьBruce you ROCK! A great video as always. Thanks!!
Ответитьwhat a great video! I really appreciate your sharing. I was doing things wrong...in every way shown. :P
ОтветитьVery old video but still very usefull! Thank you very very much!
ОтветитьI agree with everything in the video. Here in the Philippines though, we are so very low in the totem pole of standard of living that a soldering station is a luxury. I just use the old rectifier method to keep my soldering iron from over-heating and or going off too cold.
ОтветитьLectures me on how to pronounce "Soldering" and then fumbles over the word Hakko saying he doesn't know how to pronounce it. :D
Ответитьthanks - invaluable demonstration
ОтветитьThank you for sharing your knowledge.
ОтветитьWell done; just a bit long. Thank you!
Ответить"Confused the snot out you!" it didn't!
ОтветитьGreat tutorial! I would love to see a follow-up with some more advanced soldering techniques. I’m currently working on upgrading my quad with a new vtx and camera which involves soldering on the circuit board.
Love all your 101 videos by the way – you really know how to explain technical stuff in a way that is easy to understand 😊
Great video...don't mind the length if information is good as it was here. Thanks! Do you have any recommended soldering irons that you think are a great bang for the buck for doing normal RC type of soldering (e.g., changing connectors, etc. ). Cheers.
ОтветитьWow sir nice
ОтветитьCan you tell me what to look for in a flux pen. I’m new to soldering. Thanks
ОтветитьI wish I had tried looking this up 2 years ago. Would have possibly saved myself a few kwads and an FPV cam. Not to mention, the first time I ever sat down and messed with it to try and get a "feel" for it, I accidentally flung a drop of very hot solder into my eye. LOL! Hurt like hell, but no permanent damage. Needless to say, I got a feel for it alright. Safety first, kids! P.S. You don't pronounce the "L" in salmon, do you???
ОтветитьI appreciate the "What not to do" demonstrations. I've watched a few other people "teach" but don't explain what the difference between right and wrong are.
Thanks!
Good Job. I like your style.
ОтветитьEnglish is not my "first" language and though I have been aware of this word "albeit" for a long time, it is in this video where I first hear it in actual use (by a great educator of this hobby). Thank you for the informations you share. BTW, I see you also go to/on 2 meters. Quintessential electronics enthusiast! (Of course without saying, I know you must be an engineer (albeit a playful one!,) Cheers!
ОтветитьGreat video thanks mate
ОтветитьMy middle school shop teacher used to say, "Soldering is like kissing a girl. The more you do it, the better you get at it". :)
Wow. This seven year old tutorial is really good. Just now tried your method on an EC5 male connector. Came out solid and good looking. For lots of years, I have been paying the LHS to do my soldering for me. Now, I can save the ten bucks and do it myself. Will be getting a Hakko "soddering" station soon.
And, yes, I too generate correcting conversations with the word "salmon" when I enunciate the letter "L". And, I am not even British.
What to do with hand tremors? The long tips magnifying the tremors to the point that damage occurs.
ОтветитьDamn I wish you were my teacher at school definitely would of listened more
ОтветитьJust stumbled on your videos!
Great info, and great explanations!
Thanks for making these, Im sure these have helped a ton of people.
Also love your video on how to charge single cells in a lipo to rebalance them.
This is going to help allow my electric skateboard to last longer.
thumbs up for the passion and clarity you put in explanation :-)
ОтветитьAs a person new to construction of RC planes and all the various skills needed, as always remodel review tutorials are excellent. Very well presented with clear and precise explanation and advice.👍👍👍
ОтветитьVery good information, probably the best video I've seen for soldering.... God bless you and your family!
ОтветитьDude, I give up! 15 minutes into the video and you still haven't shown us how to solder 😡 I'm sure it's an informative video, I just ain't got the patience! I'm out!
ОтветитьI bet you don't say the "R" in car.
ОтветитьThank you for this video! I learnt a lot!
ОтветитьResin, or "Rosin" is a mixture of polycyclic organic acids that react with metal oxides upon heating to the thermal decomposition temperature of the resin. They are chemically similar to fats, such as tallow, which contain aliphatic organic acids released when heated to decomposition temperatures, and are also used as soldering fluxes. These organic acids have high carbon content, as reducing agent, but when molten, also flow over the metal and metal oxides, pre-wetting the surface, and preventing atmospheric oxygen from reacting with the molten metal surface, hence the bright surface of fresh soldered joints, and the dull appearance of overheated joints and older solder. Which rhymes, unlike "older sodder"!
Ответитьthanks a lot this video covered everything I had questions on
ОтветитьThe best video on 'how to' and 'explaining' sodering period! I mean soldering.
ОтветитьI have the D version of that hakko station, with the led display and 2 buttons instead of the knob.
ОтветитьOh mate. Just the first 20 seconds gets you a subscription. Pisses me off when yanks say SODDARING.
ОтветитьI know this is going to sound stupid and funny but without watching your video, my soldering skills were absolutely terrible. (of course I'm American hahahahaha) but at a lot of places it's hard to get lead solder for electronics. But I can buy acid Flux at the biggest box hardware store to sweat /join copper plumbing pretty much everywhere! Ridiculous I know. Always practice safely and responsibly! Thanks again! :)
Ответитьsahdah. if you're from boston.
ОтветитьP
ОтветитьDont know how I got here, but man, you have some GREAT all around tips, especially for beginners. Nice job.
ОтветитьNice job ole'man! You made a really good video.
ОтветитьHow can I prevent my soldering iron producing solder balls whilst soldering. I can't seem to be able to get it to produce proper liquid solder.
ОтветитьBest. I learned a lot
ОтветитьHi Bruce! I should have seen this video much early! I have learned a lot! My mistakes: too much heat, lead on the iron, flux evaporates, lead free tin (I think just this is sold in Germany), tin gets spikes, applying hard flux on the soldering iron tip. I have bought an 150 W soldering iron with a big copper tip from Amazon. It makes strange noises like the oven in a sauna haha but it works super great on my LiIon cells! never had such good results :) But I´ll need to finish that before I yell victory...
