Info-packed 17 minutes!👍

It’s easy to lose sight of (or not have a feel for) eating in proportion. Very interested in the piece on liver (over-eating) and supplements.

With year-round ready availability of almost anything, we are susceptible to eating what we want when we want it, and as regards carbs, out of local season (a given though that some carbs store reasonably well). It is also easy to comprehend that animal-based food is in season year round. Helpful for evolution.

Worth listening to this episode a couple of times through at least🙂

Hi Dr Chaffee! Thanks so much for all the wonderful videos!I've been carnivore since last July and have lost 50 pounds! I'm feeling much better but a few days ago I woke up with a painful gout attack! Of course, everyone in my life is saying Oh, it's all the meat you're eating. I'm not believing it. Do you have any thoughts on carnivore and gout? Thank you!

As someone who's been struggling with Vitamin A toxicity for years, I have to respectfully disagree that liver is the SAD dieters best friend...due to the excessive Vitamin A and copper in liver, it may actually tip someone who's not on a carnivore-ish diet even further out of balance, particularly if they are eating fortified foods and multi-vitamins. I suspect the changes that Saladino and Aurelius experienced after adding carbs back has more to do with the fructose than the glucose. Both of them went hard on the fruit rather than starch. Fructose metabolism shares the same dehydrogenase enzyme system as ethanol and Vitamin A metabolism (retinol is an alcohol), so it may be that the constant consumption of fruit/sugar keeps those enzymes active. There also seems likely to be a connection between Vitamin A metabolism and running on glucose vs. fat for energy...because excess retinol gets stored in fatty tissue as retinyl esters, running on fat for energy would encourage activity in the fat cells that store that extra retinol, whereas running on carbs for energy would tend to keep that excess retinol locked up in storage. I get the feeling Saladino is digging himself into and a deeper and deeper hole with his fructose consumption, especially as he continues to eat liver alongside it. He looks like he's aged 10 years in the past 1...could be all the sun he's getting, could be the fructose, could be the Vitamin A...probably all of the above. Now that he's having bloodletting done, you can't distinguish between the effects of his diet and the bloodletting on his labwork values.

Fascinating idea about taste. Sometimes, very very occasionally. I get a craving for liver. Then I can eat and even enjoy a small portion. But normally I find it absolutely disgusting.

This is 100% my experience on Carnivore diet. I started out taking organ meat supplements every day but I kept having cramping issues no matter how many electrolytes I took. Finally decided to give this approach a try and basically stopped all organ meats and haven't had any problems since and I feel great.

I found that organ meats cause me to get gout which was very painful. I no longer eat them and my gout symptoms stopped completely! Thank you Dr. Chaffee for these valuable videos.

Weird how every study that's ever been done shows that people who eat more plants live longer.

You acknowledge we need glucose, but you said it can be accomplished by accessing it from “something else.“ What is that something?. The So where does it come from in your diet?

Are strawberries also dangerous? Why couldn’t a person have a few pieces a week with meat?

We have been omnivores for millions of years, not just carnivores. Humans who lived in harsh winter conditions who couldn’t find animals to kill & certainly it’s very difficult to trap and kill an animal, our ancestors would’ve died out if there weren’t other sources of food coming from fruit plants, tubers, nuts, and so forth.

Not everyone has no willpower. Many have the brains & will to think through how much fruit to eat and how often. It also helps with iron absorption from the meat.
