You're such a star
You suck a big cigar
You burn hundred dollar bills

Your old lady's cool
You know she's no fool
She's got everything that
You don't want and more

And that's for sure

Alone in a bar
You got this far
You're stuck on Route Sixty-Six

The girls are the same
They still play the game
You got everything that
They don't want and more

So your troubles spilled onto your tie
You went and gave yourself a black eye

Good bye

The end of the day
You can't get away
You think you can, but never will

You'll feel alright
But just for the night
You'll wake again tomorrow
In the same old way

That's where you'll stay
Stuck on Route Sixty-Six

"Stuck on Route 66" is a song written by Tacoma native Garry Logan (me). Originally titled "Rags to Rags," the song was written in a piano room at the local junior college (1981), and was first recorded with members of what would later become The Fuze (an independent, obscure Tacoma rock band), who nicknamed the song "Route 66". The name stuck, hence the title of this newer 2012 version. The lyrics were inspired by an old buddy.

This is the first number produced using my newly purchased (at the time) Tascam DP 24 digital portastudio. Crude vocals, bass, and guitar work are mine. Drums are a Boss DR 770. Using only onboard effects, each is plugged directly into the console. Vocals were recorded through an Audio-Technica AT 2020 mic. Guitars are a Schecter Hellraiser V-1 FR. Bass is a plain-jane 2004 Rickenbacker 4003 MapleGlow with rounds (in stereo).
