ОтветитьI never appreciated my Italian background until I honeymooned in Northern Italy and found myself feeling very much at home in Venice and Padova. What a magnificent country!! I think anyone with soul, can come away from Italy feeling a little Italian!!!

ОтветитьROMEO AND JULIET (RECOMPOSED)
by Jason Rudge
THE PROLOGUE
The CHORUS enters.
Our scene is set in an enticing city
Where two rival households swap stinging scars,
Uglifying the air two teens make pretty
When true love blows their hearts across the stars,…
Which rouse a prickly sun imparting heat
To twisting blades that twist the plot on stage
For the benefit of worms seeking meat
From fools who rashly court despair and rage.
Youth can make fools of all the greatest lovers,
But sometimes outside forces play a part
And in this tale a foolish youth discovers
His love can’t keep old hatreds from his heart—
Nor halt hearts taking trips to heaven’s gate,
Which fast becomes the lovers’ tragic fate.
The CHORUS exits.
I lived in Padova for a year as an exchange student! It was the fall2019/spring2020 semesters, and both semester were equally amazing. We decided to stay there, instead of go back home to Norway, despite our government begging us to come back when the corona hit. We stayed inside for 2 months, only going out 200m from our house to shop groceries, feeling like we were in a police controlled warzone. The payoff however was when Veneto finally opened for travel within the county. We traveled to Verona and got to see the balcony of Romeo and Juliet completely alone! We also got to take pictures of only ourselves at Piazza San Marco in Venice! Moral of the story is when something feels important, like this pandemic lockdown did, you should say "yes please" and go aong with the flow without fear. Just thought I'd sare :)

ОтветитьAre we just going to ignore the fact that Guliano is Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber?

Keep up the great work! 👍🏻
I love watching newbies watch classic movies especially the Terminator they don't get it that he is a robot no emotion
Ответитьalways so enjoyable and enlightening, like all Rick Steves videos
ОтветитьI do not recommend this city, nothing with seeing, it is dying. I cancelled my trip there immediately after bad experiences with their gangster polices.
The polices are desperately framing and targeting foreign tourists like gangsters. They demand cash only and take more than on paper (which was framed by spending 30 minutes in the rule book).
What a shameful city and police system!
I was lucky enough to live in Torino for a year during High School and am enjoying revisiting many of the places I visited with Steves. Still looking for Torino/Turin and Piedmont. Talk about a wonderful gem in Italy that is not high on Tourism.
ОтветитьQuei 'mbriagoni dei Veronesi 🤣🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьIn the little map which shows Italy, why is not marked Kosova with it's borders?

ОтветитьIn the u.s. we turn our backs on norms and traditions and culture every four decades or so.
But over there they have the same thing
For hundreds of yeas.
This episode showcases a great point he made in his talk on Italy travel skills. 80% of Italy has little to no tourism, but all of it has ancient history, captivating scenery, and superlative art. Plus, just as everything sounds nicer when spoken in Italian, sights which look gritty and/or uninviting in a young and new country like America somehow look nicer in Italy. A good case in point is my father's hometown of Gaeta. You will see a heavier industrial port and its attendant facilities, but they will still be sun drenched and have an excellent view of the coast. But there, and in neighboring Formia, you'll also find nice beaches, old churches, a fort overlooking the sea, and other sights which are relatively uncrowded thanks to massive tourist crush absorbed by the principal cities. These are the places that Italian citizens go when they want a weekend at the beach without the huge crowds, and are well worth a look, as are much of the surrounding countryside up in the hills.
Ответить👍 exquisite! Thks for history & food.
ОтветитьNot a big fan of the eternal alcoholic things. Like life and food is only worth it with wine. C'mon bruh.
ОтветитьHis unwillingness to use Padua's English name is annoying me.
ОтветитьAhhhhhh show some love rick, things do need to be true for them to be real ;)
ОтветитьThe scene from letters to Juliet....Verona...❤❤
ОтветитьRick that was magnificent! Thanks
ОтветитьI wonder if the Scaligeri who literally invented the modern historic timeline came from this family?
ОтветитьHello, I'm a producer in Korea. I'm in charge of a travel program for terrestrial broadcasting and I'm inquiring because I want to use the relevant data.

ОтветитьI was told that if a guy just slaps his hand on Juliette's titty, his love life will get worse. No technique.
ОтветитьI am seriously in love with Italy, to the extent that my heart beats faster and I watch footage of the country 😆❤.

ОтветитьHi Rick Steves, what a beautiful episode!!!! Love love love Padova and Verona! I am from Vicenza, pretty small but equally amazing with lots of Palladio's architecture. I know the White House has been inspired by Andrea Palladio. Best wishes, :)
ОтветитьGee! We're in italy for five minutes, tomorrow Spain. This is Europe. Amazing. People here are called Italians.
