13News Now Chief Meteorologist Jeff Lawson announces his retirement after 33 years in Hampton Roads

For more than 30 years, we've welcomed Jeff Lawson into our living rooms as WVEC's chief meteorologist. He's been with us since 1990 and has a career spanning even longer: 43 years, more than any meteorologist in the history of the region.

Over the years, Jeff has been voted not just Hampton Roads' favorite meteorologist, but to the all-time Dream Team of Hampton Roads anchors.

And now after a long and storied career, Jeff will be retiring in November!

"Thanks for letting me into your homes for all these years," Jeff said. "Thanks for being so supportive through the tough times, as well as celebrating the good times with me. From my broken neck, and the brace I had to wear on the air for six weeks, to two surgeries to remove parts of my tongue that were cancerous, you’ve been there for me and my family."

Jeff will be leaving some pretty big shoes to fill, and a familiar face will be putting them on: Tim Pandajis, who was WVEC's Daybreak meteorologist for five years beginning in 2016, will be returning to Hampton Roads to be our new chief meteorologist!
