I still cannot understand how to move gems into the local inventory using the cargo elevator. It won't let me drag stacks from the box to the inventory like you do in the video.

During my first free fly event in this game, before I even bought my starter package, the two game loops I found most enjoyable were hand mining and delivery contracts. With delivery contracts essentially disappearing from the game entirely for the time being, I've been focusing on hand mining when I'm in the mood to simply do something enjoyable without caring if it's actually profitable or not. The Geo has been the perfect way to bump up the profitability, while still feeling very much like I'm still doing hand mining. I loved the idea of ROC mining before, but the reality of driving the ROC just wasn't something I wanted to spend any amount of time doing. The exosuit fits my preferred gameplay much better, I'm so glad I was convinced to get it.

Great video and thanks for making it! Have done some ROC mining awhile back but recently grabbed the ATLS GEO and went out again. This was a good refresher and I super enjoyed mining with the new Geo last night. Don’t think I’ll ever get tired of the jump packs lol.
Seems most gem mining in Stanton was bugged and I had to go to pyro but otherwise everything is working well. Thanks again.

ROC can still mine the 0.2 Mass FPS minables like Hadanite, but it is best to back up near the Max range of the mining laser so you can throttle it between 20-30%. The minimum power is 20% so you don't want to be too close that you have to turn it on and off. I found one such cluster on Arial and mined 105 hadanite gems with the ROC.

Freelancer Max is rentable now, and has more room to walk around the ROC than the Cutlass Black. I would recommend this if you have to rent.

I still bring a 2 SCU box with me for ROC mining because it is cheaper than another ROC bag and holds more. I wear a backpack that can hold 180 gems to move them from the ROC to the container.

After cracking the rocks with the ROC, you can use the radar ping (tab key) to easily see where the gems are at on the ground. You'll have to repeat this about every 15 seconds however.

I have at the moment given up on mining, Planetary Mining is fixed, yes, but the Geo has a too small capacity, the ROC is buggy for me since Years now, cant move the Mining arm aroud to aim, ROC DS Works, but the Cargo Lift keeps eating the Cargo Pods . . .

Ответить
@BerraLJ
@BerraLJ - 19.04.2025 08:45

I prefer the ROC-DS feels more stable to drive.
Bad thing with the DS is i tend to use the Andromeda to move it around, and getting the lift down on a moon/planet can have some odd effects causing some issues.
I remember using a Prospect to mine the hand mining rocks, now that was a bit of a challenge :)

I just can’t see after watching guides how salvaging or mining of any type can compare to the speed, ease and safety of cargo running.

If I am willing to load my cargo myself I can make upwards of 450k jumping from a Stanton planet to a nearby station doing contracts. If I only want auto load runs I can make around 385k using the TDD and filling up my C2. While commodities running adds the risk of loosing your prepaid cargo that contracts don’t have it’s also super simple as you don’t have to load any cargo and just fly from point A to point B.

With no refining, no searching, no sitting out exposed, and not being limited by tiny cargo bags or hulls I can’t see when it comes to making money how salvage, mining or bounties can even come close. Once the Hull C gets a bit less buggy you will be able to make millions per run with no cargo loading or unloading at all.

For a returning player (stopped at 3.19) this is a great refresher and also shows the changes since.
Might hop to Aberdeen and bring a Roc and ATLS geo with me.
Just did the hauling grind and bought myself a taurus so time to do another gameloop for a bit.
I do hear the moons in stanton are a bit broken when it comes to roc mining and pyro is a bit better?

Some feedback, respectfully: The intense vocal fry + dropping your voice at the end of sentences (instead of carrying through) = a difficult time understanding everything you say and having to rewind.

When it comes to fighting pirates, you give the best advice on rerouting in quantum. This is will also be useful for when Pirates start actually using the interdiction webs more often too.

Great guide. So is it worth to use the Geo at this point to mine, if you plan to do it "randomly"? Like if you are on your way to a mission and find some ores, would be better to carry on your ship a smaller thing like the Geo, at the cost of having to unload it more often, or get a ROC which would take more space onboard? This is from a solo perspective, not to maximize profit but to get the most fun out of it.
Also is a safer mining spot where to go, which would have less chances of pirates? For the time you have to invest, to go back and forth and the risk of being disconnected too, I am really thinking that mining is not worth your time in the end... But if it is easy enough to go in and out, even not making much proifit is fine if you just want to make some mining for fun

Anyone else having a bug where mineable rocks aren't being highlighted when looked at with the multi-tool (with mining attachment...I made sure haha)? The power display doesn't show up either so I have to go by sight/sound and guess how much power is enough to hit the sweet spot 🤷‍♂️

@skullleaderv1160 - 24.05.2025 19:17

It is possible to mine gems with your misc prospector (tricky though!) then eva and collect them on foot with the multi-tool or even by hand.

Also - (right)Alt+K unlocks ship nodes, now you can remove MISC ore bags and install Argo ore bags and haul 48 scu in the prospector as opposed to 32.

Does anyone ever load up a few scu is crates on their ship and go for a big haul. Seems like people only fill up a roc hopper and a backpack in these guides. Wouldn't you want to get more paid out in one trip to sell them? Especially if you're making sure to get really remote where people aren't likely to find you?

Great tutorial, something I've found, if you're looking in a group of 3 or 4, take a ROC and 2 or 3 Geos, when you find a patch the Geos can jump out and start cracking then the pilot can land and the ROC pick everything up

@rinimand - 01.06.2025 00:29

I couldn't figure out how to remove the hopper in the ROC and you showed me that I have to unlock ports. Why didn't I think of that? Well, actually, since it's a fairly normal function it should really have a button on the ROC to do that. But at least now I know.
