Amen. I totally agree with you hearing aids are not cures and cochlear implants or not cures. I know that also because I have two sets of Bluetooth hearing aids that go behind the ear lift and right ear. And there are the kind for people who are deaf, they can link up to their iPhone. Because my hearing loss is over 100% or over 150%.❤❤️🤟🤟

Hi Rikki you are 100% right,I still think a lot of hearing people think once they are in our ears we can hear a pin drop! But the clue is in the name "AID" they help us to hear something rather than being in a silent/muffled world! People say they are blind without their glasses but they are not a cure,I hope your hearing aids are working ok again as I know you been having problems with them,you had 30 yrs without hearing aids so I suspect you now think why did I bother getting them if they keep going wrong! You have the best make of hearing aid so should be more reliable! Plus when you wear them it's a miracle you can hear 100% again 🤣🤣🤣

I totally agree. I wear hearing aids for a moderate hearing loss. They help but will never be able to replace the hearing that was lost and mine has gotten slightly worse over time.

I know hearing people don’t understand that. They need to step in our shoes for one day and see what it’s like!

Right?!? I had someone assume I was just vain and not wearing my hearing aids because of how much I struggled... Nope I was wearing them but my loss had progressed to the point they were useless. It was so frustrating to be assumed to just not be doing the thing that would "fix" the "problem" when the reality was it was never a "fix" or cure to begin with. Just a tool that can be helpful in some situations for some people.

It really sucks how dependent I am of my cochlear implants I don’t even know how to sign, I was approached by a deaf man today signing and I could tell he was disappointed to see that I suck at asl and I’m feeling on the verge of losing my hearing as I just got cut off by my insurance and my implants are very VERY worn…I’m afraid of what’s to come

That’s understandable. Totally understandable. My area in trying to get connected with hearing aids with iPhone because audiologist(s) suggested that it will work, yet after numerous attempts, it will undo and not recognize my ‘devices’ so it basically just ‘undeaf’ with no assessabilities. The problems started when too many people tried to ‘morphed’ both Deaf equipments with hearing telephone with no recognition of the difference between the two because of digital electronic and internet. Everyone wants both digital electronic and internet, yet lousy about services. I cannot even find my hearing aids. Others preferred to believe the lies that damaged so much deprived from other resources that become too much for some people. There are some companies that sells ‘bogus’ hearing aids that are outside of the regular offices of the audiologist(s) which is very misleading and damaging to the Deaf communities, even to deprived people from jobs.

I agree. Hearing aids won't be an easy fix for everyone. Different people will have different experiences with hearing aids depending on their particular hearing issue.

This is why I make other adjustments in addition to hearing aids and don't use special programs on my hearing aids.

My Mum has to deal with this all the time!! They only amplify the sound she can hear!!!

Yes! This!!!! Even Cochlear implants are NOT a cure. I have CI on one side, and it’s not a cute- just a tool like glasses.
