That's bull you get nothing I know
ОтветитьI started collecting SS at age 70 when I retired. I'm married at age 72 to my 35 year old wife who doesn't work -- she has two school aged daughters to care for that I adopted and she manages the home. If I die at age 78, we would be marred 6 years she will be age 41. Could she file 19 years later at age 60 if she does not remarry and get my Full Ret. Age benefit? She has never worked in the U.S. and will not be getting Social Security, we now live in the Philippines where I retired.
Ответитьstill confused... spouse was 54 at death - I am 59... when can I get survivor benefits?
ОтветитьSocial Security is important for many seniors, but it’s also crucial to plan for retirement with smart investments. Diversifying your investments helps grow wealth over time. It’s never too early to start saving and investing for a secure future. I'm 63 and my husband is 65. We’re both retired with over $3 million in net worth and no debt. We live frugally and earn monthly passive income, which makes our early retirement possible.
ОтветитьMom worked for state for 20 years and receives a pension. She is receiving a reduced social security because of the pension. Dad dies, he was receiving soc security. Can mom still receive partial widow benefits to supplement the income she is missing from Dad's soc security? Mom 74, Dad 84.

ОтветитьI’ve been working and paying into Social Security for over 40 years, and there’s no way I’m waiting any longer to take it. I’m grabbing it early—might as well take the sure thing. At this point, I’m all about investing in myself and putting money into the market. Over the years, I’ve learned that building real wealth comes from making smart investments.
ОтветитьI want to take my husband's benefits , the 50 % , after i take widows benefits when i switch to mine . What is that called and can i get half of his when i get my fra ? I may get 3k and half of his may be $900...I can get both right?
ОтветитьSocial security is the one thief that gives some money back.
Ответить@themedicarefamily My mom was recently widowed. She is 83, her husband of 33 years, was 90. His daughter said my mom would be eligible to receive approximately $650 of his $1900 benefit. Why would she only be getting a partial amount? My suspicion is that she is having her mom, his ex-wife, also apply for his benefits as an ex-spouse. He and his ex-wife were married for 20 years and have probably been divorced for close to 50 years. I have no idea what her situation is, if she worked, remarried, etc. Could she actually take part of what my mom should be getting?
ОтветитьCORRECTION TO VIDEO NEEDED: Delaying taking your own social security past FRA (full retirement age) & up until age 70 WILL INCREASE your spouse's survivor benefit. The official social security handbook specifically states those extra retirement credits earned past FRA are passed on to increase the survivor benefit amount. It is just your surviving spouse will not receive a higher survivor payment for them waiting past their own FRA to collect. I believe that is why this gets confused by many. That inaccurate information can cause couples to make wrong decisions that will have a lasting negative financial impact on the surviving spouse. You must verify any information or advice given by anyone by checking on the official SSA website yourself before taking any action with or making decisions for your social security. SSA REFERENCE: 407.1 - How is the widow(er)'s benefit rate computed? The widow(er)'s insurance benefit rate equals 100 percent of the deceased worker's primary insurance amount PLUS any additional amount the deceased worker was entitled to because of DELAYED retirement credits. SSA REFERENCE: 720 D - If you are a widow(er) of a worker who had received or was eligible for DELAYED retirement credits, then YOU ARE ENTITLED TO THE SAME INCREASE that had been applied to the benefit of your deceased spouse or for which the deceased was eligible as of the time of death. A surviving (including divorced) spouse receiving widow(er)'s benefits is also entitled to this increase.
ОтветитьIt’s sad you have to be married 9 months SAD

ОтветитьI am thinking about applying for ss at 62. My husband is 17 years older than I am. What if he passed could I still recieve full spousal benefits?
ОтветитьI just watched the video and downloaded the cheat sheet, I guess I'm still not getting it. So if a spouse started drawing at 62 and then died at 77, does the widowed spouse (60yrs old), draw 71.50% of the spouses amount he was getting by drawing at that age or does the widowed spouse draw ??? percentage of his age at FRA????
ОтветитьSome of these questions are so silly
ОтветитьI am 67 My husband just passed in February 2024 He was receiving $800 and some dollars I don't know how he could be receiving that such a small amount especially after the 8.7 increase last any well maybe cuz I came back and gave me money because they owed it to him and hurt you in March or April but they can I receive both SSI and my husband's benefit although my husband really didn't work much I called and they said no I cannot I called social security they told me no

Ответитьso to be clear : a divorced spouse currently getting 50% of living ex-spouses benefit will be able to get 100% when the spouse dies?
ОтветитьAm 58 retiring next year but the thought of retirement gives me weakness. My apologies to everyone who have retired and filing social security during this time after putting in all those years of work just to lose everything to a problem you never imagined to happen. It’s so difficult for people who are retired and have no savings or loved ones to fall back on.
ОтветитьI was recieving widow pay and my son also received a check. When he turned 16 they cut me off widow pay. Can they do that since he did not 18.
ОтветитьMy mom’s husband died in March. They were married for over ten years. Would she qualify for widow/survivor benefits?

ОтветитьQuestion? Married from 78 to 86. She divorced me. Remarried in 94 to 96. I divorced her. 2000 I remarried wife won. She just died of cancer.24 yrs. SSA says I'm not eligible for survivors. I started at 62. 651/2 now. WHY
ОтветитьAny idea about this situation: Married 37 years. and Im 63
My wife, 9 years older than I, passed away recently, and she was receiving about $300/ month. I should be receiving approximately $3500/month in about 4 years when I retire at 67.
Am I supposed to be receiving my wife's 300/month now until I retire at 67? or something like that? until I retire?
Your standing in front of the monitor and I can't see all the numbers. This video is worthless to me.
ОтветитьI talked to someone at SS Admin today. My former husband passed away before he was able to collect SS benefits. I believed that the longer I waited, the more I would collect. That's not what I was told today. I'll be 62 this summer. If I had collected when I turned 60, the amount would have been the same. I AM NOT collecting at the point of his full retirement age. That is false. I am collecting 71% of what he would be collecting if he retired when he passed. I'm not disappointed in the amount. However, it is not based on what his full retirement age benefit would have been. The amt wouldn't have changed if I waited until I was 65 yrs. Get it as soon as you can. I will still be under the 21k rule and that's ok
ОтветитьWhat if the ex spouse was on disability and under early retirement age when they passed? What would survivor benefits be based on?
ОтветитьI was told I should take my social security at 62 . then at 67 change over to my deceased husbands social security. He worked longer than me and earned more money. Is this true?
ОтветитьOh dear lord. I retired at 62... but if I am understanding you correctly, I will only get 79% survivor benefit?? I am divorced (married 22 years). It's not based on my ex's benefit? Does it combine with what I am getting on my own record or can I put mine on hold and just take the survivor benefit?
ОтветитьHi ,
ОтветитьI retired at 62 because of health reasons. I drawed my social security my husband died at 55. He was a farmer and only hada small acreage with no house. I had to sell the land to make it. He was born in 1962.i am starting to rum out of moneycan i get any more social security or widows pention. I am 71 now.
Ответить? If ur a man 78 ur wife died U both r drawing sec. Can he draw survivors benefits off his deceased wife
ОтветитьIf I am getting a spousal benefit at age 62 and my spouse dies.I know the survivor benefit automatically begins.I am wondering if I have to take it ,or can I wait till FRA and take it then for the full benefit my husband was getting? Thanks.
ОтветитьWhat bugs me is SS is always a month behind so why when a spouse dies do they have the right to take the month back!!!!!
Ответитьwhat if you spouse die at 42 and you got his pension , once I turn 60 can I still collect social security along with his pension?
ОтветитьMy husband died shortly after our 14th wedding anniversary, and I am now currently receiving SSDI for myself. I heard that once I turn 50 (because I'm 100% disabled), I would be eligible to draw from his social security at the reduced rate. My question is, would I be losing my disability benefits if the amount from his social security is higher than my disability benefit? Thank you, in advance.
Ответитьss is nothing but a shell game of follow the money - so I am fully retired as is my husband of course his is much higher than mine - he is 71 and I am 67 ... so you're telling me if congestive heart failure gets him this year - that I can draw 100% of his which is $1000 a month higher but in 3 years when I am 70 and much older and unable to do much - they will take that $1000 away and I will be back to mine with just the SINGLE income - well welcome to the good ole' USA we both worked all our life - all of it
Ответить😅
ОтветитьSo at 71 my husband 75 we get absolutely nothing when one of us dies?
ОтветитьWhat if I switch to my benefits at 70
