The word on the street is Diamond aircraft are hard on the Maintenance bank account.
Is this correct.?

If I had the resources, I'd have one of these great little planes in a hangar (if I could find a hangar for rent at an nearby aircraft). I am curious, however, to see how Diamond addresses the prohibition in windmill restarts that applies to THREE AD's for the DA42. The issue on the twin is that the timing chain will jettison if a pilot attempts a restart while the propeller is windmilling. As long as a pilot doesn't shut off an engine in flight there should be no issue (I hope).

Why are they so expensive? The technology is almost same as on a car.

What laptop still comes with serial ports? I do love that aircraft but it might be time to upgrade the connection to the laptop

Unfortunately, the DA 40 NG is not yet available with the more powerful AE330 engine of the DA 62. The DA 40 NG in particular could use a bit more power.
