I found my dry eyes was a direct cause from Coffee. This then led to chalazions forming on my eye lids.

Idk about intermittent fasting, but I started doing 2, 60 hour fasts per week. I'm on week 2 and my eyes have definitely been much drier

I've been doing dedicated IF for 2 weeks. I can definitely tell there is a change. I can't throw away my glasses but vision is more clear and i could always tell when i was eating lots of carbs because of the worsening of my eyesight. It's enough to make you want to get it straight. Blindness doesn't seem fun.

It would be helpful to know what kind of intermittent fasting you are referring to ie OMAD, 2MAD, EXtended fasting. Thanks! Great info.

IF has not worked for me at all. Doing it for years and a half. Cut out most carbs and sugars. Walk an hour a day. A1c gone from 5.7 to 5.8. Recent blood test show it is now 6. I am very upset and frustrated.

I have experienced wonderful effects on my eyes when I fast specially with longer water only fasts that last at least 24 hours. Not only I feel my vision is sharper, my floaters seem to get really thin and almost disappearing. Unfortunately, the effects are temporary and thing come back to where it was before when 8 break fast, but I hope at least some partial benefits lasts long term specially after many fasts over several years.

I think, the before and after pictures are wrong. The right type of body-cleans would remove the brown and yellow color from the iris, leaving the light blues and greens.

Been doing keto and intermittent fasting for 7 years. I have retinitis pigmentosa. I take collagen, glycine and NAC every day and my last 3 eye exams my eyes have gotten better. Funny thing is John’s Hopkins is doing a study on NAC and RP and I did this unknowingly. Can you do a video on the latest news on RP?

After intermittent fasting for 4 to 5 months, the dry eye went away completely, and I no longer need to use gel in my eyes at bedtime. I had a couple episodes of bluriness during that time, but because I knew that my blood sugar was coming down I figured that was an adjustment that was being made in my vision and my body was correcting things, almost like going backwards a but on and off to alleviate the dry symptoms totally. Thank you for reporting on this. It takes a lot of courage to do this. I worked for a very large ophthalmological group for years, and they were prone to avoid topics that were opposite of their training, so I applaud you! 👏

Vision improves WHILE on a fast or altogether after a fast?
After my first cataract surgery I asked the surgeon why I still have floaters in my eye. I was told a new lens has nothing to do with floaters etc. etc.
Later, because of gastrointestinal issues, I started a (sort of) low carb diet and mostly 2 meals a day. In addition to losing weivht, after over a year post eye surgery I recently realized that I currently have almost no floaters in my eyes!

Intermittent fasting for two years now, enjoying many benefits (lost weight, more energy, skin improvement, good digestion, general rejuvenation); no improvement regarding the dry eye, though. No change to the worse but it's bad enough. Using Starozolin eye drops once a day, and some other eye drops in between.

I found that anything within 24 hours is just another day of eating. Rythm is 24 hours so if eat 2500 calories at 23.9 same as, no weight loss diabetes may even get worse. 36 hours however totally different. As well if the eating period is primarily fatty meat based such as brisket. I lost a lot of weight & felt better. Fasting though has caused me chronic urticaria with severe edema & dr had no clue as to why. I fixed it with inulin & simple carbs after 1 year of bad suffering so beware! Fasting especially with coffee can ruin gut biome!! Dr Longo fast mimicking type diet of my own also helped me get started back fasting but so far my cataract has not improved & after a period of deprivation torture I lost resolve & yoyo back to my usual over weight. People who are northern types seem to be carnivores & I am returning to brisket as too much protien raises my sugars as well. I don't believe in insulin when I know I am over producing it or why am I fat? Dr said fire me for asking so I fired that one as well as a few others. Metformin gives me bathroom life as does fasting. So carbohydrates in any form harm me including so called healthy whole natural foods like fruits, potatoes, bananas but If urticaria develops I go back to them but in small amounts. Fasting did seem to imorove my glaucoma. I am by the way 67 years old & had normal life until 55. So careful fasting, avoid coffee during, expect when refeeding explosive uncontrolable 💩. I think possibly Dr Longo type diet following rules to save money a good alternative & also just fatty meat maybe a salad if greens don't bother you. I find a few cooked carrots & parsnip with fatty beef perfect & never get all of above problems.

I have fasted all my life. Used to do periodic fasting. Max for three days. Cycle up for bulk while lifting weights, fasting to cycle down. Rinse and repeat for about 30 years. For about 5 years I did OMAD. For the last 2 years, however, I fast 48 hours on weekends. On my present diet, for the first time, I have seen measurable results. I've lost visceral fat. 2 inches off my waist. Weight unchanged. I am wary of claims that it does anything more than manage weight. But who knows? All I can say is that it is easy for me to control my weight this way. If it does anything for my eyes, I am unaware of it.

Had a head injury when aged 10 which only affected my eye sight. Decades later no deterioration.

Fortunately, I've always preferred fresh food so rarely if ever have processed foods; and l have mainly organic everything.

I leave a minimum of 14 hours between starting and stopping eating - because of of social life.
Once a week I do a 36 hour fast.

Intermittent fasting with fluids only - no dehydration here. It works - because it works. For anyone who will hear it, this is what the obese epidemic needs. See Dr Jason Fung's work. Great videos there as well. And he did a great interview at The Diary Of A CEO called "Exercise Doesn't Make You Lose Weight!" if you want to watch an overall great interview. And I have noticed the difference in my vision when my blood glucose is better controlled. I am Type 2 diabetic, but expecting that to change because of the intermittent fasting, once I reach my target.
