Very good and valid info on learning how/what to code, something I have been interested in for a while! I was already quite familiar with job search/application processes but it was a nice touch!
ОтветитьI really appreciate this video. Going for a career change and this really is motivating. Doing an online bootcamp, lost my momentum a bit, but back on it.
Ответитьthanks for the tips! I searched and found a couple free pdf books on react native and node js. I learn from reading and im going to get on this project! Very inspiring journey
ОтветитьThank you for your explict, clear, candid and concrete explanation ! It's tonnes of valuable YT.
ОтветитьI am yuvraj and just wanted to say Thanks man, you keep things real and genuine, a huge thanks for that, i came here back after 3 months because wanted to write some good review because you helped me a lot and this was the first video I got to know about you, thanks. Alot I am front end developer right now and will give some more time in js to better understand the language, a huge thanks and I'll definitely connect with you after I make my linked in, lots of love
ОтветитьWhat was your starting salary? Should I get an internship?
ОтветитьSuper sick and informative video, with things like this there feels like endless paths to take but this has narrowed it down for me.
ОтветитьI'm working on becoming a full stack software engineer. I'm over 35. Age is nothing but a number.
ОтветитьSo no bootcamp and no college degree your all self taught? And you landed a job coding, i will stick to this video and start learning thank you
ОтветитьHey boss, I really enjoyed listening to how you got started with everything. I will definitely be referring back to this in my studies!
ОтветитьFantastic video mate. Thank you very much for sharing. This video is an absolute goldmine of a roadmap. Congratulations on your success as a self-taught dev. I hope to be in your position soon :)
ОтветитьWere you a civil engineer? I noticed that on your LinkedIn profile. I am a civil engineer and Ive been debating switching to the software development industry. I am curious about your transition from civil engineering to developing, and do you recommend that? Do you have any videos about that specifically?
ОтветитьHi Bro, Even I am in IT from 11 years, same like you not from IT background, I am from commerce background. I am a ReactJS Developer. But still not easy for me to get a new job. Maybe I am low in confidence. You are the best Bro. Thanks
ОтветитьI’m super excited about my journey in becoming either a front end or full stack developer 😊. I’m on week three and will be beginning JavaScript this morning!🎉 thank you for all the amazing advice!
ОтветитьI recently discovered your channel and i absolutely love it and what a great time to have that video cz that's exactly what i was looking for a guide or roadmap cause all resources make me lost i use all of them contemporary then i quit the whole thing
ОтветитьDude this is awesome. Quick question, did the e-commerce project you made for your portfolio have to generate revenue. I made an awesome e-commerce site but it completely flopped because I can’t market and I lost money on it. My e-commerce site looks sick tho!
ОтветитьBro, I have a question. If I start a similar journey as you in my 4th year of Bsc (ik, I'm so stupid for that), then is it possible for me too to be capable enough to become a software engineer?? Ps. I am extremely willing to work hard towards a successful result and am willing to put time and efforts to improve upon myself.
ОтветитьThank you for your tips and advice!!
ОтветитьThis is a really good video
ОтветитьI started off using node/express and firebase as my back end and DB but now I find that node/express and MySQL with Workbench is so much easier to configure and is more performant and powerful as long as you know a bit of SQL for basic CRUD functionality
ОтветитьI never finish tutorials I end up experimenting with my own things. It doesn’t really help at the end, nothing gets complete but I lean cool stuff
ОтветитьThis is such a great video with so much good advice! thank you :)
ОтветитьJust started my coding journey, this is really motivational. Thanks.
ОтветитьHello James i have a question do you think, that is to late to start now with zero knowledge, is it worth it
Ответитьman, this is definitely spreading some false hope. The market is absolutely f'ed right now. 95% of resumes that don't have the right degrees just get auto-rejected and aren't ever even looked at. I've read dozens of people in the USA that have 5 yoe and a degree in CS and it's still a slog to get a decent job.
ОтветитьBob IS my uncle. Uncle Bob
ОтветитьThese clickbait videos are the worst. I’ve been a SWE for over 3 years and everyone in the industry knows this isn’t true. Selling false hope to people is messed up. I know dozens of people who tried to transition to engineer and none of them got jobs after years of searching. Cost them tons of time and money
ОтветитьBut in your linkedin you a have a DEGREE... So how is self taught ? i like the video tho.. I even sub.
ОтветитьHi James I set a 6month goal to learn programming languages this year and it started on the 1st of July. I skipped HTML & CSS as I already know that so jumping into JS and going on.
I however only have evenings to study and code so lets see how it all turns out come Jan 2025.
Thank you for the video and all of the information.
Сразу видно, что вы профессионалы
Ответитьdoubt. highly highly doubt.
ОтветитьThank you so much
ОтветитьIs freecodecamp still free? Doesn't it have a pallywall block?
ОтветитьSick learning all these coding in 6 months. I have the some combined stack working with the backend and work with python and everything you learned aswel. Respect!
Ответить❤
ОтветитьThanks for sharing this. I’m an English language major who’s currently interested in coding(since 2 months ago) This video is very inspiring!🤩
ОтветитьI'm going to tell you all right now, for those beginners out there, if you have a very hard time with the basics, and grasping fundamental concepts and how to actually use/incorporate them. You're going to have very hard time choosing this as a career in the long run. If you less analytical and logical and more creative, artistic and free minded, you're likely going to struggle greatly with coding and it's not for you.
ОтветитьThis is great to see. I feel a lot better about the steps I've been taking to become a software developer because of this. I learn through projects, and I have done what you said about taking a second to comment every section of code with what it means in an effort to learn it. I can't replicate all of it myself yet, but I do feel like when I look at code now, most of the time I understand what's happening. I've made my own tutorial on how to integrate Google Authentication into a Unity Mobile Application and I feel like that project, of not only learning how to do something, but trying to make a good resource for other people to learn to do the same was really helpful for me to learn. Working on a firebase tutorial next, thinking that soon I need to branch off of Unity after I make at least one solid app on it.
ОтветитьThank you for helping me get started! 💪
ОтветитьBro is sayin how he got a job in 2021, the time when companies were hiring anyone who had at least four fingers.
ОтветитьThough I respect the time and effort you put into your content, I think it goes w/o saying to mention on every video to folks who are not versed in the web & software world, that unless a company specifically says that a degree of some sort isn't required, most jobs DO require that an applicant has a degree. I think some people see videos like this, learn to code, then apply for jobs that require STEM degrees, and now they feel like they've studied all this wonderful content for nothing. All-in-all, thank you for content.
Ответитьfrom last 4 months learning dsa😂
ОтветитьSo many great trips here James! I'm definitely coming back to this video as a guide.
ОтветитьGrwat vid mate, I actually finished those same courses and certificates but thought it is nowhere near enough. I will do a couple of portfolio projects and try my luck :)
ОтветитьHAS ANYBODY IN THESE COMMENTS GOT A JOB AFTER 6 MONTHS?
ОтветитьWhere do I go to get into IT HELP ME BROTHER
ОтветитьThanks for the detailed journey inspo! Going to try the freecodebootcamp and follow the steps! Hope I like it it sounds so cool. Also, the fact that there seems to be only 5% of females in this field, whattt :-)
ОтветитьIt's awesome and I am all for self taught. But also keep things realistic, in the thumbnail you say software engineer. And then in the description Full Stack Developer. Without a degree there is definitely a hard ceiling for position and income. If you truly want a Software Engineer position or Senior Software Engineer position, you will in most cases need a Computer Science degree. In the position of self taught I would start with a position and find a company that is willing to pay for the education. I also think we are at a point now where the market is a bit saturated and finding positions with no degree and/or no experience is very difficult. Keep going at it but also keep things a bit more realistic.
