Ответить"died for god and country" is without question the most offensive lyric of all time. One, there is no god that anyone can prove and the god people foolishly worship preaches peace - not war, armies, killing or country. Playing war as a child and then going off to be killed and called hero by the people that had you killed is a disgrace.
ОтветитьI traced my vietnam buddies off the wall, RIP Antonio Garza and Tommy Pesek from Jourdanton, Texas USA. I beg these younger generation to learn what a true sacrifice is.
ОтветитьThis is beautiful, It brings tears to my eyes and my heart breaks for all the parents that had a son/daughter that gave his/her life for our Country.💔
ОтветитьAs an Ex Service Man myself this song is so lovely and touching 😢
ОтветитьGreat tribute to those who gave it their all. Thank you.
ОтветитьWe lost our young man and woman in Vietnam from all branches of our military. They're all more than names on the Wall.
ОтветитьThanks to all veterans if not for all of you I wouldn't be writing this today thank each and everyone from the bottom of my heart thank you
ОтветитьI still love this song and most of all The Statlers are still one of my favorite groups
ОтветитьI love this song, except for the part where he sings "they died for God and country" Bull shit. They died for their fellow brother in arms in a war that had no purpose except for the political elite.
ОтветитьI, too came home. Left a lot of heroes behind. Trying to go on, but will never forget them.
Ответить😊
ОтветитьBeautiful song!
ОтветитьI heard this song for the first time recently at the end of a short movie streamed on TUBI. The name of the movie is "Names on the Wall". The movie is 25 minutes long.
ОтветитьI love this song also the Statlers
ОтветитьWow!
ОтветитьAt the Memorial Day service this year in church the pastor's wife sang this song. The entire church broke down, the entire congregation was in tears and fell apart. The pastor dismissed the service early that day. God bless the unknown names of all the men and women and families that sacrificed so much for us.
ОтветитьI love the song it touch my heart
ОтветитьThanks to my dad who served in korea and my uncles and father inlaw that served. And to all the other heros that did. Thank you.
ОтветитьI remember a boy in our neighborhood who died over there. When his parents went to Salt Lake City for his body someone wrote baby killer on their house my dad wrote us up at 5.30 in the morning to paint the house. It was red paint on a white house. Boys returning from there were treated like crap. My dad and other veterans would be out with their rifles so the families could bury their dead.
ОтветитьMY brother LITTLE JERRY. god I LOVED HIM SO MUCH. He has a beautiful Daughter - he only got to see her for a few hours than had to go back to VIET NOAM. GOD BLESS THE FAMILY love you forever.

ОтветитьOne of the best songs ever written.
ОтветитьLove that song love the statler brothers
ОтветитьI hope that when everyone hears this song, that why The Veterans served you dued for and the sacrifices that our families made for in our great country.
And when you vote, remember that our Military Veterans died for God and Country.
Vote blue
1989
ОтветитьAmen 😢
ОтветитьMy brother, John Fosmo, didn’t have his name on the wall… but it should have been. He died of pancreatic cancer… from agent orange. He was able, however, before his final roll call, to serve more than thirty years as a law enforcement officer. My step father, James Callaway, another Viet Nam vet, also died of pancreatic cancer.
ОтветитьA beautiful song, sung by amazing artists, for some of the bravest Americans that died for our Country. GOD Bless America and the Statler Bros.
ОтветитьCountry boys both
ОтветитьFabulous song. My heart goes out to all the families that lost family in wars serving their country. God Bless them. The military deserve our full support. 😊❤
ОтветитьThe Hero's didn't come home! Our loss +GOD's gain!❤
ОтветитьNo veteran viet nam Cold War ww2 or Korea or Middle East if you don’t at the very least feel tears when you hear this masterpiece you really need to listen close. When I went to the wall I cried then and when I hear this cry now. Cold War yes it was my era. But all those before me and after me we will live on together. And remember doesn’t matter which branch you served or which era you served and it does t matter what your job was we are all brothers from a brotherhood that is truly more than names on a wall or pictures in a newspaper or unknown faces in history. We are all brothers. Being an old Cav trooper I’ll say hooah, and the rest I will say semper if, anchors aweigh, fly high and keep the caissons rolling. Til we all meet on fiddlers green
ОтветитьThis song makes me cry for those men and women who died for the freedom that we enjoy today..
ОтветитьAt the going down of the sun,and in the morning,we will remember them,
ОтветитьI have always liked the Statler Brothers, but this song is my absolute favorite!
ОтветитьLYRICS:
I saw her from a distance
As she walked up to the wall
In her hand she held some flowers
As her tears began to fall
She took out pen and paper
As to trace her memories
She looked up to Heaven
And the words she said were these
She said "Lord my boy was special
And he meant so much to me"
And oh I'd love to see him
Just one more time You see
All I have are the memories
And the moments to recall
So Lord could You tell him
He's more than a name on a wall
She said "He really missed the family
And being home on Christmas day"
And he died for God and country
In a place so far away
I remember just a little boy
Playing war since he was three
But Lord this time I know
He's not coming home to me
She said "Lord my boy was special
And he meant so much to me"
And oh I'd love to see him
But I know it just can't be
So I thank You for my memories
And the moments to recall
But Lord could You tell him
He's more than a name on a wall
Lord could You tell him
He's more than a name on a wall
Lord could you tell him
He`s more than a name on a wall
More than a name on a wall
