Overrated figures? Underrated grails? Anime figure haul!

i got my Asuka Whisper of Flower in Japan for 26.000 Yen (160€) and i love her so much, she is so pretty - i just wish i had Rei too, but she was too expensive to add sadly, but i love my Asuka so much

The plastic and acrylic keychains often look so good these days that often I end up hanging them instead of using them.

As mentioned elsewhere, Wakamo lovers are eating good. Blue Archive Wakamo scale from NEONMAX is terrific. The new swimsuit 1/7 scale by Good Smile Company looks breathtaking as well. Both are well-priced for the quality they offer. I am glad I don't play this game. Otherwise, I would undoubtedly be another CA$600 short.

In terms of underwhelming figures, no series has disappointed me as consistently as Fire Emblem. Some of them look... fine, but Intelligent Systems charges us an arm and a leg and their production units often suffer from QC issues. When compared to other figures at the same price range, I find them simply underwhelming.

Persona 5 Makoto Niijima by Amakuni shall remain the one figure of Makoto I will admire greatly from afar but never own, as I have decided long ago to go with the Lucrea line from Megahouse for Persona 5 figures. Also, as amazing as she looks, I find her pose a tad bit distracting. It feels a bit out of character and I have a hard time overriding that image in my head after seeing her. xD

I have so much regret over cancelling Wakamo 😭 I was planning to get her in the aftermarket but… that’s not happening now

The Evangelion one is definitely overpriced but still, they look so elegant. If only the shipping don't cost too much, I'm willing to get baited. They're so lovely

If you have a formal dress shelf the asuka and rei could go very well on that shelf rather than on the eva shelf?

Sometimes I think that your colors for video is a lil bit "foggy" I guess? Sometimes it looks pale and thats weird for a figure review, where colors is really important

As a longtime Myethos fan - I don't know why, but Japanese retailers mark them up way higher (nearly 5-7k yen more) than Chinese retailers. They're (imo) worth the preorder price if you paid in CNY, but def not in yen. I've been very impressed by their Viola figure, it's an absolute steal for its current amiami sale price (14,740 JPY)

The hello series is starting to grow on me for sure. I remember so many people hyping up the Eva figures but tbh idk many that actually bought it, definitely overpriced when you compare them to some of the Cardcaptor Sakura pieces out there that are way more extravagant!

I got the Myethos set as well and they were definitely ridiculously overpriced but I still love them, ahaha. I've got them displayed on what I dub my 'flowers and fancy dresses' shelf with the Ask Sleeping Beauty figure and the Sakura Pinky Promise figure, so away from my other Eva figures, and they all look beautiful together.

Back in the early days of my figure collecting journey I remember that figures like Alter’s Suzuha Amane on a Mountain Bike and Phat Company Rin Suzonoki on a REAL WORLD replica of an existing motorcycle were nuts for the amount of detail at the time. I miss those days where manufacturers went above and beyond to figure ideas… :/

I get where you are coming from. With limited space and hundreds of lovely figures coming out you have to be way more selective, and it can be so difficult to separate the favorite want-to-own figures from the eye candy thats nice but maybe just doesn't fit into your personal collection. I also find myself being extra critical with new figures I receive, and the slightest paint/sculpt mistake has me wondering if I should have ordered it or not. I really need to slow down but I feel like I'm on a steamroller train going downhill lately with all of the amazing announcements. >o>;

You're being sensible, not negative. I think that a lot of figure collectors, or collectors in general have big regrets down the road at the thousands spent for thing they didn't love. People and their interests change and its easy to be influenced by others on what things you should get right now. FOMO. At some point they, like you, reevaluate what is the most important for the collection and don't worry about the rest. As an old person I buy very little these days and its just fine! the ironic thing abt the cheap dunmeshi acrylic stands is that ppl r now selling them for minimum $50 and maximum $100+ lol. even jp second hand is kinda pricey.... glad u got them at a reasonable price

I know ppl like Myethos but they kinda suck imo. Ive gotten 2 figures from them and both were disappointing (no looked completely diff from photos anf the other was damaged). Then there was the Aki figure which was mid and a downgraded from photos. Over priced mid figures imo.

Honestly I don't think you were overly negative at all! imho I think we need to see more of this mindset, get people to really think about their purchases and start to come to terms with the overconsumption for consumptions sake that we so often indulge in. Thanks for the vid! 😄

Yep. Don't play Blue Archive, but fox girl so I had to buy it. I also now have the swimsuit one on preorder. I'm also planning to preorder at least one of the Azur Lane Musashis because massive fox lady with multiple tails (probably the Alter one because it looks more general with just the single katana).

I agree about Castoria, she is a well made figure and I can't point out anything objectively wrong with it but overall it does look slightly underwhelming. I expected the colors to be more vibrant and the hair and fabric look very "solid" rather than flowy which make her pose look little bit akward (it might be just the artstyle, this is just my impression). The only part I feel it's not just me nitpicking is the base, which just looks bad to me.

Anyone else find it kind of odd that this channel never responds to any comments?? Maybe they are socially awkrawd who knows lol. But I have been following this channel a while now and just something I noticed 😊

The title Blue Archive is a play on words. While 青 (aoi), can mean 'blue' in Japanese, it can also represent youth, or 青年(seinan), Archive is in records or memories so the name means record of youth or youthful memories.
