Awdry claimed the rounded look of Percy's saddle tank -- uncommon for most saddle tanks and replicated for him in the TV series -- made him look like a green caterpillar with red stripes. This insult was later used in Wilbert's last book
ОтветитьDalby's illustration of Montague aka Duck was said to be the final straw between Dalby and Awdry due to the major inaccuracies in Duck's appearance. In the background of the first image of Duck and the Diesel Engine (by new artist John Kenney) there appears to be a clergyman not dissimilar to Awdry showing a shorter, fatter man not dissimilar to Dalby how Duck should look. Kenney's realism and attention to detail lead to a much better working relationship with Awdry
ОтветитьI've especially wanted to mention that I personally love this video since I personally know that the book titled Percy the Small Engine happens to be the RWS' 11th book that basically got published in 1956 before full dieselization took place! as well as quite some time before Thomas the Tank Engine's own TV series' 2nd season! In fact, most of the book had been adapted for TV during the show's 2nd season while 1 story got adapted for TV during the show's 3rd season since I personally saw those exact same adapted stories as official episodes straight on my fire stick where all of 'em were narrated by George Carlin in the U S narration! Also, apparently for another fact, some of those stores keep their exact same titles while 1 story got a slight title change!
