The Lions window was cut short by the rookie contract scale enacted the year after drafting Suh. Matt Stafford was paid 71 million from his rookie contract and 2 years later Cam Newton was paid 22 million on his own rookie contract. That includes Suh, Calvin, and Gosder Cherilus who was a mid 1st round pick and made 17 million I believe.

Megatron is an absolute monster. Also, there's something to be said about the character of a man who sticks by his team through thin and THIN. Sure, he was paid very well but he could've gone to any team he wished, doubt it was money that kept him in Detroit. For years, Stafford would be just running for his life, heaving up a prayer, getting buried..... Then he looks up and there's Megatron, going up over 2 and 3 defenders to make crazy heroic catches and dragging studs into the endzone. For years, he was a/THE(?!🤷‍♂️) defensive focal point every week, yet they STILL couldn't stop him. I'm a Pats fan but CJ always looked like a man among boys out there to me, sometimes comically so. He's a legend who's loyal (don't know him personally but he was, at LEAST to his city/team) and he did his talking on the field. Happy for Matt that he got a ring but man, I wish Megatron had gotten one! He sure deserved it.... Hope retirement treats you well. The game misses you, Megatron! God bless...
